ME
Shot Purleigh Wood this morning. Quality shoot with some good testing targets (80 over 8 stands). Managed to get in and out without getting the car stuck too! Diggy gained a cult following as we went round, dusting clays with his 100 year old SBS No mention of scores there Bagsy... Markio
Found out late yesterday that the small shoot on the Manningtree to Ipswich road was on today. So popped in there for a couple of rounds. 3 stands, 10 each. Got an 8, 9, good score just don't **** it up on the last stand... ******...4! 21ex30. Tried again and got a 9, 6 (dammit!) & 7. 22ex30. Unfortunately i think i got sunstroke in the process, 6 hours later i've just spent the last hour with blurred vision and kept falling asleep/passing out. Mungler
******, I forgot it was Purleigh Wood today. That being said, I spent the whole weekend in the garden. Three trips to the garden centre and two hundred quid later that me done for the whole year. Top tip for anyone in Essex (near Stock / Billericay). The Piggeries nursery (wholesalers) down Small Gains Lane have a cash counter outlet - cheap as chips bargain hunters. Trailing petunia surfinia's (good size and individual pots) £1 a pop, fully made up hanging baskets £6 a go. I normally do my own baskets but at six flippin quid why bother? Similarly, I used to grown my own marrigolds from seed - trays of 36 well established marrigolds for about £3. Pot of sweet peas £1, pot of mint £1, maderia plants (established) £2 a pop. Six good size tomato plants £2. Oh yeah, I went mad. Also found specialist chilli grow bags - clever design as well. Photos to follow because I am sad. Bagsy
No mention of scores there Bagsy... 51 for me, 53 for Diggy. Went round with open chokes today but they were no good on a couple of stands. Pleased overall though. ******, I forgot it was Purleigh Wood today. Thought you were quiet this weekend. The queues were a bit much come the end, I needed to be back by 1pm, rolled through the door at almost 2.30 Never mind, another night sleeping outside with the dog
Markio
Little Oakley shoot today with usual crowd + MartinCavie & Bob300W, scored a marvellous 38ex50, had a great time, the sun was out, the birds were singing, chearfull company, one of the best days of my life. No wait... i shot like a ****.
MC
Markio, You wouldn't have scored 38 kills if we had stayed until dark. It was a good afternoon with some good laughs. Markio managed to stand still long enough to have a snail crawl accross his foot. I shot 31/50 and Bob the Bandit (I haven't shot clays for 17 years) shot an excellent 35/50. It was a particularly hard shoot with High gun being 42. So well done everybody.
Mungler
Bob is actually a bit of a dark horse on the clays. I get the feeling that if he tried and meant it he would wipe the floor. Glad you boys had a good day, I was steralising and repairing feeders and fencing pens. Some good photos to follow care of LV's phone.... watch this space. poontang
Shot my first sporting shoot today at Lt Oakley. Have only been shooting skeet for the past year or so, so today was a bit of an eye opener!! Really enjoyed it and started pretty well on the first three stands, i guess it helps if you don't really know what you're doing, but the wheels started to wobble on the penultimate stand, and totally came off on the last!! Finished on 28/50, which i was quite pleased with for a first attempt. Also got to meet Bob300W, MartinCavie and Markio, nice guys who all thought i looked 18!! At least i THINK that's what they said
MC
Isn't it starnge how this forum conjures up a picture of someone in your mind, Bob, Mark and Myself were all discussing poontang before we met him thinking he is a spotty 18 year old who had just bought his first baikal. Then we meet the guy and the illusion was well and truly shattered. For someone who has never shot sporting to get 28 yesterday was doing well. Mind you was that "Never shot sporting" a bit like Bob's haven't shot clays for 17 years? It's funny how everyone knew him at the club, just like a regular. Markio
Markio, You wouldn't have scored 38 kills if we had stayed until dark. Damn right! i actually got 18ex50 which i have to say is my worst score in about a year. Being in a crappy mood that day and all week and on the tail end of man flu will be my excuse. Anyway, stiff ****. P.S. **** off Cavie. Edited May 11, 2008 by Markio
MC
Well that is nice, at least I am thick skinned and not be offended by that. Unlike the poor girl taking the money yesterday who you launched in to an attack at. I think your words were " I am *****G happy OK" Still never mind, at least you bought the teas after coming last. Oh no that's right they were free
Catamong
I did the English Open at West Midlands SG yesterday, it was (as always) a very good shoot, nothing too far away, but some birds needed a heck of a lot more than they appeared, so many potential hotshots came a cropper. I missed one on the first stand, then a couple on a very tricky long Teal / Crow combination, but I only actually mis-read one bird on the layout, which was a fast orange bird coming down the cliff face towards you, I never touched one of them. I also missed 3 on a tricky white L/R incoming dropper, followed by a fast L/R looping orange, I watched several good shots blank that stand. I finished on a pretty poor 83, I know quite a few Forum members shot it, Emmsy was on my squad, he didn't shoot to his potential, Paulos was on the squad behind me, he started like a train, but had a few doomers later on, bumped into Ron, (berettaman1), he was shooting OK and really enjoying it, also beretta came out of retirement to shoot earlier in the week, (hopefully minus those yellow check trousers??) and did a very good 85. Jonsey also shot earlier in the week with her new Perazzi, I think she's doing well in the Ladies class. I felt a bit sorry for Rob Wise, who was on my squad, he missed 4 on the long Teal / Crow stand, but still finished on a 92. Young Richard Faulds is shooting today, he has to beat a 95, which was shot yesterday by Paul Lovick, if anybody can do it, he can. Cat. MC
Well shot Cat, We all miss them at some point, missing is the easy bit. There was a comment made yesterday at the shoot that we were doing about one of the birds. It was "There was nothing at the English open as hard as that bird" I only managed one of those particular ones. I went to my gun clubs annual dinner last night and picked up a bit more silverware. Most important one was the sponsored shield from Eastern Sporting along with a nice voucher for me to spend in the shop. So apparently I am being classed as Professional as I have now been paid :good:

I thought I was doing a regular a favour, but it is cash from now on.
bob300w
Yep, great day out yesterday lads, I really enjoyed it, and fantastic weather, despite that black cloud hanging around......talking of Markio, I can't believe that he went on to another shoot after, he looked at death's door when he left. I'm not sure if that trail of snot was from Markio or the snail that raced past him. Hope you feel better this morning mate. Poontang, for an 18 year old, you ain't wearing very well, unlike the 81 year old lad who shot a 31, very impressive. The "harder than the Essex open" comment was only beaten by the comment (from the same numpty) that "the bottom barrels of all Blasers shoot 11 inches low at 45 yards, I know this for a fact, cos my mate stuck a torch in the barrel and pointed it at a ****-house door". Interesting that this "star" who allegedly shot in the Essex Open, was not in the top 5 at a competition between two wild-fowling clubs, most of whom do not pick up a gun between February and September. Martin; Most people knew me because 20 years ago, I was the clay captain, and it was a real pleasure to see all of those old faces again, some of whom I had not seen for 17 years. Shame that some had let themselves go, lost hair and put on weight, unlike myself, still with a full head of flowing locks and sylph-like figure. Anyway, great day out, and lots of laughs, yesterday was exactly how the sport should be, hassle free (unless you were the girl collecting the entry fees, who Markio reduced to tears) and really enjoyable. Edit; oops, just noticed that Markio's post was from the 5th, not yesterday, touch of old-timers disease. I was going to say, i don't remember going to another shoot, as it was Hannah passed comment of "You've been gone all this time and you only managed 18!?". It's true, I thought I was going to be having a good day when I straighted the first stand, but alas, it was not to be! Enjoyed it though, a cracking shoot with great targets Good to meet Cat today, top bloke! And Ron too, although he may not say the same of me, after he seemingly went to pieces once I showed up!! I fancy another registered soon now though. Anyone fancy shooting at Kegworth on the 26th? Edited May 11, 2008 by paulos

Thanks for the warning Bob, i have noticed you Essex boys have a penchant for pink!! Was nice to meet up, albeit briefly, and hopefully we can meet up again soon? Was invited as a guest by the 'other side' yesterday so couldn't chat for long, i hope you don't think i was being rude. It's true to say you do form a preconcieved idea of what people are like on the forum. However, i had seen pics of Martin and Markio on here so knew what to expect. I always expected you to be like everyone's embarrassing uncle Bob, you know, the old, flatulent one who sits in the corner at family 'do's' dribbling and leering at any passing female. I'm pleased to say..................you didn't disappoint

Next time we meet, p'raps this dribbling, leering old **** can give you some lessons, let's see, how many did you score? So Colchester is not in Essex then? Next shoot at Oakley ground is on the 24th May, I'll send you a fixture list if you don't have one, and if you could do something about those spots before then..... Scores out of 80 - 50 - LV 46 - Mung 41 - Dan I picked up a trophy for 2nd place on the same shoot two weeks ago. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who shot like a complete W******** this morning, It wasn't really about the wheels coming off, I just don't think they were on in the first place. First stand 8/8, 2nd stand 8/8 3 rd stand 4/10 and it went downhill rapidly. scraping by to 32/50. Poontang, If you want some more experience of sporting you are more than welcome to shoot with me on tuesday evenings at Radcliffes shooting ground at abberton.
