Gary Wilson from England organised the trip for Steve, and he prepared for many months for this trip. It was the goal for Steve to break the World Record on “doves†in Argentina. fineyoungbuck
For whats its worth, I think one man shooting thouands of doves in one day is greedy, unsporting, and reminiscent of victorian attitudes that led to the decline of so many species. Plus its bad PR for the antis. I have seen their siberian roebuck and black grouse video which is superb.
Cranfield
For whats its worth, I think one man shooting thouands of doves in one day is greedy, unsporting, and reminiscent of victorian attitudes that led to the decline of so many species. Plus its bad PR for the antis. I have seen their siberian roebuck and black grouse video which is superb. Doves in Argentina and parts of Mexico are more plentiful than any species of birds in the UK. They do a lot of crop damage and are considered serious vermin. It should also be mentioned that all the birds shot are processed and eaten. I also doubt there are any antis in South America.

fallowbuck
I have to agree with Young Buck I am an avid deerstalker and rough/pigeon shot but I just think it is obscene to shoot so many birds in a single day.Everything is finite, as we have found out with Partridge shooting and Cod fishing! Excesses like this do the sport or the quarry any favours!
Evil Elvis
Its very noble of you all to say that you wouldnt do it....but....if the chance of a trip like that came your way......HOW MANY WOULD TURN IT DOWN? .......not many!!! Teal
Met the chap, possibly one of the most boring people ever? Drones endlessly about chokes and ballistics and cartridges. I've heard from several sources he's a bit rubbish when it comes to british gamebirds. He has the number of doves he has shot stitched into his shotgun sleeve, a bit sad really. Ballymac
Watched this video and what surprised me was the fact that he stood behind a bush, with two guys loading, another guy counting, Gary (a member on here) cooling him with water, a camera man and whatever else. They were not decoying the birds just shooting them as they past overhead They where at the bottom of a valley, not in the crop fields were I thought they would have been and he took some very good shots, shooting at birds coming in 3/4 at a time, but there must have been a constant stream of them. He used 2 eight shot Benelli semi autos. Population of over 57 million doves, with tourists shooting 100,000 a week and not making an impact on them. It is easy to say "that's not for me" but it adds to the the local economy in numerous ways and is helping the farmers. Isn't that the reason why a lot of people shoot pigeons in the UK, to help the farmer protect his crop. BTW its' not for me either. Yeah he is an Ulsterman but Ulstermen can be Irish
