What force you under ?

Maybe keep a record post so we can see how long it takes.

A member used a simple idea that works.

Below is a editable bit of text that can be amended and copy/pasted into posts.

I am sure he will not mind it been used.

Thanks Steve

19 WEEKS AND COUNTING, ESSEX AT IT'S BEST!!

I found Essex to be good a while back, but apparently they are very under staffed. Keep on at them, my friend got his wife to phone and talk to the FEO and say "It's his Birthday soon and I want to take him out and let him buy a gun, is it possible to send back the cert asap" and they did! (the following week!) I phoned and asked nicely and offered to drive to Chelmsford to pick it up and the FEO ended up posting it personally that day!

Just be polite, they hold the key at the end of the day.

Evening all. First post for me! I'm currently applying for a SGC with Nottinghamshire, and got a phone call last week (about 5 weeks into the process) confirming an interview date at just under 7 weeks in. Here's where it's at so far.

Police Force: Nottinghamshire
Posted Application: 6th Feb (special delivery)
Confirmed of receipt: 7th Feb
Interview Date: 2nd April
Certificate Arrival Date:
Rejection Letter Arrival Date: N/A
Total time for application:

The chap suggested there were no problems with the application, so I guess it's just a straightforward interview... When I phone to chase at about 3 weeks in, just to see where it was at, the very helpful lady in the firearms dept said Nottinghamshire were taking between 12-16 weeks for the whole process.

UPDATES in Blue:

OK to add and will update as my application progresses:

Police Force: Gwent Police (Wales)

Posted: 13th Jan 2014

Confirmation: Received 15th Jan, confirm via phone call at end of Jan 14, as Gwent Police don't do confirmation letters, which is fair enough.

Interview: Interview scheduled for 31st March 2014, Scheduled on 21st March 2014

Received Grant: Awaiting

Total Weeks: Currently 11 weeks and Counting.

Also I spoke to BASC and they phone Gwent Police about my application a few weeks ago, and informed me that under staffing and budget cuts for the Firearms Department are crippling (same for many forces i expect). Which is a shame for what is a very important service the police provide. Anyway we will see how much longer it takes...

Now that's ultra quick ! Has to be a record especially with 2 none working days included.

:good:

And I bought a new gun on Saturday which complicated things. I can remember my application taking about 3 months so things have definitely improved.
