Nial
The guy who runs the local clay place said that they have a couple of regular customers who had the bit that's the equivalent of the forend blow off. I think these were early ones but he said he wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. Nial.

rsrjerry
My escort auto went wrong last week , the barrel bulged right where the choke ends in the barrel ,had full choke in at the time .It is about 2 yrs old and i really did like shooting it ,anyway i took it to shop where i purchased it ,told only way this could happen was by an obstruction ,could of been a bit of wad stuck .The guy phoned up the suppliers and they said send back the barrel which he did .result they will replace the barrel under warrenty but they dont have any at the moment but i will be getting a replacement when they do.Have not been told why but to me it points that they must have had a fault with them ?? only guessing ? Ferret Master
Could it have been sold with the wrong choke? I've heard about this happening with Escorts with the same result that you mentioned. FM
Windknot
It's supposed to have happened with Beretta chokes in Hatsan guns.
rsrjerry
mine is the old style butt , not the new one with the curve. the only chokes i used in it was the ones supplied with the gun and i have had it since new . barrie0
Aye, it happened to me. Although I did have a Beretta choke in at the time. Cost me £130 for a new barrel. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...&hl=warning
steve_b_wales
Sounds like to me that something obstructed the barrel causing a pressure build up. Perhaps some muck or mud got into the end of the barrel. many years ago, a mate of mine blew the barrels off his side by side because there was snow stuck in the end of the barrels. KennyB
thanks for your replys and concerns lads , yes its the new shape with the curved butt, and the chokes used was wot was inthe box he removed the skeet and put in the 1\2 3 notches anyway speaking tonight he told me he had returned it to the gun shop and they said they never seen this happen with an escort but has seen it on other guns cauased by a barrel obstruction, well we've been racking our brains as to wot the obstruction could be, mud idont think so not with a s/a, jammed wad possible but very very rare, food for thought hes was shooting under an oak tree wot odds would you lads give for an acorn falling down the barrel 1/000 5/000 to one????.anyway the dealer phoned edgar bros and they told him they are aware on a coulpe of occasions of this happening and have agreed to replace the whole gun, my mate has ask me when he gets it will i put the first couple of boxes thru it, my reply was that makes sence cos i use one myself lol,, think ill use the 686 instead, which brings me to the point are these guns SAFE??? ps he didnt take any pics sorry kenny
Fuji Shooter
This is a little worrying as I have just purchased an Escort 20g Youth for my 10 year old son and it will be his first time out with in in the morning. I know its a very rare accident and they must have sold thousands of Escorts due to the price but it is still concerns me that it has happened at all. Baldrick
Definitely sounds like a barrel obstruction. And nasty. And expensive.

MC
I had a similar thing years ago with a Baikal and a wad stuck in the barrel. It was a rottweil cartridge that didn't have any powder in it. It left the wad about 3/4's of the way down the barrel. I collected my empties and they were all sent to the london proof house for anylisis. They confirmed that one of the cases had been fired but had no powder residue in it. I claimed off the importer of rottweil which at the time was D J LITT in cornwall. They paid for a new barrel after some arguing. I would take the gun back to the shop where you bought it and ask them to sort it out.
Imperfection
I know its a very rare accident and they must have sold thousands of Escorts due to the price but it is still concerns me that it has happened at all. Worrying-possibly,but chances are it could occur with any brand of gun with right circumstances.I have a 12g Escort myself and knowing something serious has happened to others guns has me double check the choke tightness and barrel being clear. THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
One of the first things I learnt about shotguns was if the bang sounds a little quiet check the barrel for a wad. Just bought a Hatsan myself & picking it up next week. No worries, I'll just listen out for the duds.
