myzeneye
right guys... im about to buy some wellies as my good walking boots are taking a hammering with all the "off the trail" action they're getting lately...mud being the issue... ive looked at a few makes and it seems the hunters are worth their salt.... i fancy the "balmoral" wellies.... now, can anyone find them for a price less than 68 quid.... and, can anyone tell me if theyre a generous fit or tight fit...im a 9.5 and most brands dont do half sizes these days,so, if theyr tight ill need a ten if their generous ill take a 9.... whats your opinion.... cheers guys... John_R
I went for Balmoral Neoprene and I reckon they are well worth the money. I was tempted by Le Chameau but they did not have my size. I usually take a Europe size 42, and I asked for that and they had no problem. I found I did need the extra insole they supply. I bought in a shop so I had the advantage of being there to try different sizes.

Newsportshooter
Not hunters But I got a lovely pair of Lacrosse 'Alpha Burly Sport - 18" Realtree Hardwood' wellies. £55. Fantastic fit, don't move about on your feet when you walk (I got size 11 Medium which I think is the US size as I'm a 10) - lovely and warm, fleece lined and have calf adjusters. Obviously they are realtree camo in colour.. I would highly recommend them. If your interested I'll ask the missus where she got them from.... see link below for a pic. http://www.lacrossefootwear.com/product/hu...unting+boots.do
myzeneye
cheers guys, some good opinions and info there.... i liked them lacrosse one's, and although id say cammo pair would be better, id better get a pair i can wear for generla use too.... camm wellies with jeans may look a tad full on when out with the dog ! i noticed it said somwhere that hunter over size thier boot to allow for wellie socks....would you all agree that the boots are generous fitting.....? Newsportshooter
No idea about hunters. But re the camo wellies. My misus (who is a bit anti hunting etc) commented the other day, whilst I donned the boots for a short walk in aldbury, how good they looked with jeans - aparently I looked like a model..... Can't work for every one but you never know....
caeser
I've got a pair of Toggi Esprit wellies. I've had them several years now and they are really robust, and very comfortable. They are the neoprene ones with full length zip. Excellent quality, they've outlasted some of my friends better known "quality" wellies. I think they cost me about £70 originally. Well worth it. John_R
i noticed it said somwhere that hunter over size thier boot to allow for wellie socks....would you all agree that the boots are generous fitting.....? When I bought mine I asked if I should get a size bigger to allow for thick socks, and was told not to do that as they are comfy enough to wear whatever socks I liked. So, I bought my normal shoe size and so far no complaints. Bear in mind I am referring to the neoprene lined ones, and those are nice and warm. mikee
ive had apair of le chameau "chasseurnord" i think they're called, they're the zip up neoprene ones for about 6 years and they are still in good nick despite thousands of hours in the field and at work, they were quite dear £125 from memory but well worth the cost on a frosty day mikee
Ferret Master
I've had Hunter Neo-Classics for the past 2 years. They have not leaked and have put up with lots of abuse however despite their 3mm neoprene lining they did not keep my feet warm even with 2 pairs of socks! I now have some Le Chameau Vierzonord Extremes which have a 5mm neoprene lining throughout, a double neoprene footbed and a reflective inner sole to keep heat in. I haven't had cold feet wearing them yet. FM

There like slippers, lovely. Just wear them with normal socks cause there so warm. Our dad has had his about 7-8 years and the souls are only just going inside. Borught him a new pair for christmas but he's still wearing the old ones. I would recommend these very highly, worth the money. L

myzeneye
hunter my backside !!!!!!!!!!! 1st pair sent back, too big....ok not their fault but left me disapointed.... the joys of internet purchasing... 2nd pair arrived today. faulty !!!!!!! 80 quid hunters, out the box, faulty !!!!!!!!!! i got the balmoral neo's... the heel/sole has(for some reason ?) got fabric on it... which on one boot appears to be pealing away.... not a good start considering they've never seen water or mud !!!! i dread to think what they'll be like when they're caked in dried mud and bog juice !!! not impressed at all with hunter. got to ring the supplier (funinthecountry.co.uk) tomorrow to have a little moan. ****. codling99
i got a pair of muck boots, tay they called, warm as toast and really comfy, only gripe with them is their a big fitting, and when ive worn them with one pair of socks their a little loose, and when my little foot as been slipping around it s worn a hole in neoprene lining now,so they rub my heel now unless i wear two pairs of socks,if they fitted their pukka. Trussman
I use a cheap pair of Dunlops. I have the ability to wear out a pair of wellies in 2 seconds flat. I keep replacing mine every couple of months or so.
