Greetings,

Yes I know I have been a stranger for too long (or perhaps not long enough for some members :hmm: ), however I got in from work early for a change (oh how I love attending a training course), and came home to an email from scaffy. The email contained a link to this thread, and the sentence 'will you comment on this or not'. Clearly, he knows me all too well.

I have no issue with people who simply do not like to hear swearing from anyone, male or female. I would always try to take your views into consideration and make the effort to hopefully not offend you. I also do not advocate swearing in front of children, and make a conscious effort not to. On the other hand, for those men who DO swear and have stated they 'cringe' when they hear a female utter the dreaded 'C' word, or any other swear word for that matter, get off your sexist high horses and kiss my @$$ ! Who the hell do you think you are?

As for the small-minded, judgmental folk amongst us, who have issues with women being tattooed and pierced, I suggest you start accepting modern society.

:good:

glad its only a suggestion and not comp

Women - swearing: it's just common. No doubt it comes as part of a set with council estate branding (tattoos) and a bad, dyed blonde Croydon facelift.

See you on Jeremy Kyle.

Common? Council Estate branding = tattoos? Dyed blonde hair? Croydon?

0/4. All wrong. Very, very wrong.

Your ignorant, sexist and judgmental attitude probably suits your mentality. Crawl back to your cave Neanderthal.

All true, but it doesn't invalidate my earlier comments. Perhaps I should replace "council estate branding" with "tramp stamp," but otherwise I believe it's a fair correlation.

Why do you take it personally? Only the Jeremy Kyle bit included a personal pronoun.

Darebear, didn't your parents tell you it's wrong to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed component?

This forum is probably the closest he gets to interacting with women so cut him some slack!

(Tattooed, pierced and definitely, definitely not common or blonde or from Croydon!)

Fair enough, you should take it personally.

Have you appeared on Jeremy Kyle?

Erm, no - I actually had to google to find out who 'Jeremy Kyle' was, after a few minutes spent wondering what on earth I'd want to clamber over him for

To save anyone else who's sat there wondering who on earth Jeremy Kyle is the trouble, it's a daytime show where actors take on the roles of the lower classes in order to convince the viewer that they have an interesting story about some combination of sex, drugs, illegitimacy, alcoholism, relationships and more sex; all of which seem to combine to give some sort of morally superior smugness to the viewer. There's probably been several dissertations and theses written on the subject.

Thank you!

I'm still puzzled over how a woman swearing is any worse than a man swearing. I know that we're often accused of speaking different languages but it does seem rather silly to make a distinction between the words that are thought 'suitable' for the different sexes.

Perhaps a better and more useful thread would be around the occasions when swearing is, or isn't, acceptable. My vote would be that it is perfectly acceptable for either sex to swear when (a) a shot has been missed, particularly through the shooter not being as perfect as they would wish, and (b ) when one suffers a minor injury, such as a trapped finger, twisted ankle, object dropped on foot, etc. Excessive swearing whilst engaged in normal conversation is an unpleasant characteristic in either sex.

Funny really, but I wouldn't have been that bothered by it a few years ago. But now I am fast developing a dislike to hearing it. And when I do hear women swearing, its usually from a group that have huge hoopy earings, body piercings, tattoes and seem to be unable to pronounce words properly, none of which I like either. It doesn't take long to start formulating and labelling. Its not me being sexist, its fact.
