Sorry Cat, you lost me there for a mo, I was just thinking back to saturday and my 79/100 on the black course.

Now where were we. Oh yes, I will telephone Essex Gun tomorrow to make certain that there is no confusion. I would not wish for any query over something as insignificant as my historic ex CPSA classification over a total of 3 shoots well over a year ago to detract from my score.

My score is of course not connected to my classification or connected to matters relating to a 3 year novice non CPSA hay baler wooooping the mighty Cat.

You are only as good as your last 100 reg'd eh?

 Sandbagging eh? Lynch him!!! I wouldn't say that your CPSA class is insignificant though when it comes to competing for prizes? I can't imagine that your ability has gotten worse since you gained your historic classification?

How does a CPSA classification work for someone who isn't a member at a NON CPSA event?

Irrelevant at best surely? I will have to have a word on sunday at my local shoot, they have me in AA class there but clearly I should be in B like the CPSA website says.

If my membership had run out I would have shot as U/C as well. I still wouldn't have got anywhere but that is not the point.

interesting reading all this. is the £100 open to any shooters.

Hi beretta, don't be fooled by this one, I'm told it's a shoot where you're given a Claymate counter and then go off with your mates to score it yourself.

No wonder the Essex boys always score so highly, you can imagine the scenario, as El Bandito Mung says......."****...missed it".............MC replies......"No let's call that a no bird, have it again".

Not really a true test of shooting skill, far better shoot a good 200 bird layout with scorers on every stand...??

The UK Grand Masters beckons.

Once you are classified by the CPSA, you stay in that class for some time, even if your membership lapses.

CPSA classes did apply at this event, if they hadn't, then the entries would have been much reduced as there would have been no incentive for lower class shooters to enter, don't forget there was a gun up for grabs in every class.

It's a common sense rule to prevent sandbagging.

Genuinely unclassified shooters are allocated a class on the day via their scores over a number of stands randomly selected by the organiser and kept secret until all scores are returned.

You only need to look at the scores to show that it doesn't work.

B class was won with a score of 167, 15 more than the AA class score that you put in, you score was even beaten by a C class shooter. If they are good enough to put in a score like that on a shoot of that standard then they must have been sandbagging somewhere.

4th in B class is a guy I shoot with occasionally and they boy can shoot very well. He should not be there but all he needs to do is put in couple of bad scores in the latter part of last year and he is in for the prizes.

Someone has obviously been on the phone to Neville as Mung is no longer in the prizes

I don't know about you but every stand I shot on saturday had a scorer, and only one of them was texting and looking the other way.

You have got us measured though haven't you, I mean god forbid that anyone who has beaten you did it fairly. I have only shot Copfurn once and I don't remember Mung being there.

Relax, I have updated the organisers because it's the right thing to do.

When we all signed in for the event I was asked for my CPSA number, I said I didn't have one and that was it, automatically off to unclassified for me. If that's not how it works then so be it - I am not in it for a slab of carts. I think this also happened to others in our group, but because no one else hit the prizes it didn't become an issue.

I already have my prize  now where were we......

Ah, yes Cat, let me talk you through the Black course and give you some tips.........

Aha, but your memory loss obviously extended beyond realising it was a 200 BIRD EVENT to even forgetting you were recently classified when asked "What class are you..?", quite astonishing, don't you think....M'Lud?:lol:

A truly despicable act from one of the Essex Strawbalers, who's obviously not content just to duff up the local Boy Scouts at their 30 bird flick arm Charity fundraiser.

I've a good mind to write to the Shooting Times and Pull magazine to expose this blatant sandbagging.

Shhhhh the mods have declared that this thread is only open to hetrosexuals and people who scored more than 79 out of 100 on the black course. That's you done for on all counts

I have decided that I may quit clay shooting now on the basis that I must be at the top of my game and because you are only as good as your last 100 birds and..... ah well, you know the rest. I guess you will be retiring now

Seriously though, this thread has given me a decent chuckle and with all the giggling the game is well and truly up at work.
