From tomorrow details of every email you send, website you visit or internet telephone call you make must be stored for use by the state. This doesn't only apply to the big internet providers - it will also be applied to the smallest firm.

 

Yet another European directive, and another this nanny state government of ours has been instrumental in devising, not content with the damage they've already done

 

It wouldn't worry me so much if the information were restricted to the Police and security services, but alas, as you'd come to expect with this lot in charge, this won't be the case. Public bodies and quangos, including your local council will be able to snoop on your private life.

 

Won't be long until they have lawful privilege to live in my home the way things are going.......and why not, we pay for everything they do and use anyway

A couple of observations:

 

1. more people die from choking on Bic pen lids in the UK each year than from terrorism so why are our liberties curtailed out of proportion to the threat? ID cards, CCTV, 24/7 monitoring, detention without charge under anti terror legislation.....

 

2. there is an obvious and direct link between foreign policy and the amount of foreigners who will want to blow up UK and US citizens

It's no coincidence that Germany and Japan have built up such strong economies over the last 60 years. Whilst the U.S and U.K have constantly been getting involved in other peoples business, all over the world, the old axis powers, stripped of real miltary power, have been able to concentrate on building up their industry and wealth. War is a very expensive business in terms of both equipment and manpower. Although i support 100% British military personel fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is a war we should never have got involved in. We simply cannot win. All we have done is awaken, and put fire in the belly of every muslim fundamentalist. Unfortunately for us we have allowed thousands of these people to settle here over the years and they have truly become the 'enemy within'. These people are not soldiers, they don't wear uniforms, they have no rules of engagement and everyone is a legitimate target to them. The government now have the perfect excuse to 'monitor' these people, and in doing so everyone else too. I doubt the general public have much to worry about from the security services, but what does worry me is the snooping busybodies at town halls across the country, the petty little bureaucrats who's sole purpose in life seems to be that of keeping the common man 'in his place'. They're as corrupt as any other politician and must be wringing their hands in glee at the amount of information about to come their way.

As Mungler said, drip, drip, drip............................and we've allowed them to get away with it!!

Another freedom taken away! We think it is bad now, I can only imagine what this country will become in the next ten or twenty years. All the things we enjoy are being eroded on a daily basis. A minority has more say then a majority and you can no longer do or say anything anymore without getting into trouble.

We are being shaped and molded by the powers that be and have no say in it what so ever. It really is quite a worrying time. I believe things are implemented under a guise but really there is some bigger plan.

 

Now I'm not a conspiracy nut but when you see some of the things going on it really is ****** up.

it didn't stop us doing stuff, you'd be shopping in woolies and there'd be a warning on the intercom thing every one would shuffle out side stand around or go shop next door, if you were in a shop or somewhere and there was a bag left on it's own you told some one sorted !!, we need to stop this mass hysteria

Why should the Police have totally unfettered powers when the powers that they have are more than adequate? We have very limited civil rights now, don't give up the few we do have, so cheaply.

Every phone call is already screened, say the wrong series of words in the wrong order and you will suddenly become very interesting to a group of communication experts somewhere in southern England.

 

Now with this as well its only a matter of time before we all have ID cards and biometrics stored by the state.

As you know, its perceived threat. Simple as that. Why do you think they scan your shoes at Stansted airport? It's a token gesture. Had the shoe bomber been a pocket bomber they'd be indivdiually checking everyones pockets. Or at Glasgow airport where the nut cases ram raided the place with a burning Jeep, it's the only airport to have bollards outside the terminal. It's sad they think we fall for it. Pure genius.

well i hope they will be monitoring everyones stuff no exceptions (includes gov aswell )cant have one rule for one and another for someone else

in my eyes its wrong as i wouldnt want someone that works at one of these places getting hold of my bank details etc supposed to be secure online banking well not anymore

how long will it be before anyones data, credit card details, banking details and other stuff which is supposed to be secure when you use certain sites for paying bills starts to get used for fraudulent purposes i wonder
