grahamt
I've got a new semi-auto and it needs breaking in before it will cycle relyably. Many cartridges claim to be low recoil but I want a few hundred high recoil ones! Presumabley cheaper ones use more primative technology and would therefore be better for me. It can chamber up to 3". Any particular brands?

magnamaniac
Hi D&J you can't get more primative without using powder and shot. Woody

Boromir
Stick a grenade launcher to it, you can go fishing as well then.

Harnser
Obviously not a berretta as they will cycle anything from the start . I have heard this mentioned before ( breaking in a self loader ) nonesence . If it dosent work straight away then there is something wrong with it . Take it back . Harnser . dazza
That's the first time I've heard of a semi auto needing broke in.
CZ550Kevlar
I think generally a semi auto that needs breaking in is called being sold a Turkey.
njc110381
Beretta Xtremas are said to need breaking in sometimes. Even the owners manual says that. If you've bought a Hatsan though I'd break it in with a hammer, then buy a decent gun B) EDIT.... and some Express Magnum Max game 50g should break it in nicely. Nothing big is cheap so you'll justhave to enjoy them for what they are....Big expensive loads! Edited April 25, 2009 by njc110381
deeksofdoom
I had a Lanber semi automatic that wouldn't cycle 28 gram loads, I got rid of it!
bigred
I had some eley firsts that gave a good kick more than any other 28g i have had and they are cheap.
mudpatten
I can only speak for Benelli and Beretta semi auto`s, but the owners manual for both recommend that, from new, a couple of boxes of heavy load cartridges should be fired through them. BlaserF3
Kent Velocity - They're proper thumpers in 28G Re: Kent Velocity, I bought two thousand of these, shot 100 and took them all back to the shop and swapped them for Express 24 gram. in fibre. There is no need at all to sell cartridges that batter you to bits. Wonder if I should sue? My shoulder hurt and there is no warning on the box about recoil damaging you. fieldwanderer
my franchi semi auto wouldn't cycle light loads to start with but I found a different model has a seal on the erm cylinder (it's gas operated) but the raptor (which is nearly the same) doesn't! An "o" ring later and it cycles everything spot on! If yours works the same it might be worth a go.

grahamt
Thanks for all your replys. There wasn't much choice at my local shop. I've got some 34gram Rio. I'll see what they're like tomorrow. The gun is Saiga 12 (Russian). Apparently they need a fair bit of wearing in, but after that they'll take any round.
