Si-Bore
Hey guys I am due a touch up on my shell decoys to enhance the white bars on my shell decoys. What (from experience) is the best paint to use for the job? Cheers, Si
PaulABF
White? Seriously any sort of matt white will do. Maybe a bit of matt varnish over the top to prevent flaking/weathering.

Si-Bore
I have painted the decoys with matt emulsion but also bought some enamel matt white which i have painted a flocked decoy with and looks great. I tested the decoys today and the pigeon seem to really focus on the shells. I could see the white neck bars from a long way off and they looked very good. Thanks for all your help guys, Si
Tis1979
Out of interest has anyone tried the UV paint Grey or white? what results did you find if any?
steve_b_wales
I tried the UV paint that I had with a flocking kit I bought. I can't say that it made the bird's come in any better, but I suppose it should help.
jethrofurness
I've used ordinary grey primer ( the type you spray with) and then got a tin of humbrol model enamel white which comes in matt, satin or gloss. its dead cheap an dry's really well. next time though im going to try mixing some flock coating stuff from the model shop into the paint to se how that works? Cranfield
I retouch the neck ring on my decoys at least once a year and it surprises me when I see some shooters decoys where the white has faded away completely. Watching about 20 pigeons walking around a meadow looking for clover this morning, you could see their neck rings almost before you saw their bodies. rigwallet
DONT REPAINT WING BARS JUST THICK NECK BARS CAUSE BEFORE THE PIGEONS REALIZE THEY ARE NOT REAL THEY ARE DEAD HAPPY SHOOTING

Greenhunter
I've put UV paint on all the birds I've made recently and not had any complaints only good comments. Can't do any harm can it?
PESCA
White undercoat for me. Cheap, and a matt finish too. Whiter than a white thing. 1/2 ltre tin will last longer than me, that's for sure. PESCA
