apbuild
I purchased a pair of Le Chameau Chasseur boots from an online only company last year. The zip on the left boot has just broken and makes the zip inpossible to do up, so I contacted the company concerned. It was just before Xmas that I first e-mailed them and then again after New Year. I got a reply e-mail to apologise that they had taken a while but sorting through the Xmas e-mails had taken some time, but they had received mine and were going to talk to le Chameau direct to sort out the problem I have just heard that Le Chameau would not help. The company concerned said that this was not acceptable and are sending me a new pair of boots from their own stock. Is that good PR or what? I have checked with the PW moderators and have been advised that I can name the company. The company in question? Optics Warehouse. I thank them for their excellent customer care and service. Dunkield
They were doing Bushnell binos for £199 which is less than my mate paid in the States! Unfortunately the offer was limited and has now run out :(
Hodmedod.one
I bought a pair of Aigle neoprene lined wellies two years ago. First time out, I snagged one on something and ripped it. I emailed the UK importer and voiced my opinion of the quality of thier product. I also pointed out that I had bought the Aigle's to replace a pair of Hunter Sovereigns that had lasted me for five years. The importer immediately offered to supply a replacement pair, which (touch wood) I have had no problems with. I also know a keeper who has sent his leather lined Aigle's back several times because the zips have failed. They send him a new pair everytime, no quibble. This is the sort of service I expect and I feel we deserve. Sounds like buying Le Chameau may not be a wise move. :<
plexer
Have to say I've had the same experience with Le Chameau and my chasseur's as well. Trouble is I got them as an incentive to do a BASC backed learn direct course and in the process of doing so the company went bust and it took me ages to actually get my boots. The zip pull on the left one broke and that zip has always been very stiff even after waxing it etc... Emailed Le Chameau and it took them about 3 months to actually get round to emailing me back and they told me to contact the uk distributor. I read a letter from someone in a shooting times saying they had a problem with theirs and Le Chameau sorted it out without any problems which is why I emailed them. I'd certainly never spend that much on a pair of boots myself. Ben
lurcherboy
I have had no problems with mine, yet, but am concerned that after spending a large amount of wedge on their wellingtons and boots that they have a **** customer service LB
Sargeant Bang
They seem to want to position themselves as the "Rolls Royce" of boots, so their after sales should match their rediculous prices. Don't wear mine every day but wear them enough and they've been no bother, must be 18 months old now. They were £30 from Glasgow Angling Centre, they're called "Eiger" (presumably to sound similar to the top brands?) they have 4mm Neoprene. Worn them through thorns when beating and all sorts but no probs, no leaks etc. They are still perfect. They're also nicely cut (shaped) and have a good walking sole on them. My mate Chameaus started leaking after a year or so! Eiger Piteraq they called... look here http://www.fishingmegastore.com/cgi-bin/sh...l%23a2175#a2175 Thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Cranfield
Thanks for the recommendation Sargeant Bang, my Eiger Piteraq boots arrived from Glasgow Angling Centre this morning. I have walked around in them and they are very comfortable, the price is impressive as well. Neoprene lined, superb shape, good sole and the purchase price includes, a boot bag and multi headed cleaning brush.
Sargeant Bang
Oh yeah I forgot that part... brilliant isn't it? ! You get a cloth boot bag/sack and a little stiff brush for cleaning! Honestly, you can't go wrong with them for £30, they look good too. I've given mine a good old kicking now for at least a year and a half and still my feet stay warm and dry. I reckon maybe this is what underpaid underkeepers wear, who have to work in them, whereas the Land Owner tends to go for the Chameau's.... just my little theory. 30-6
Sargent Bang In your posts you say "Eiger Piteraq", but on the link it says Eiger Sirius and Eiger Classic, can you clarify for me. I have been looking for a warm wellington at a good price for ages and am definetely interested, thanks for the tip. Enough of us buy and you could be on commission. 30-6
Regarding Eigar Piteraq wellies in this thread, they are now discontinued from Glasgow Angling Centre, the newer model Eigar Sirius are warmer and about the same price, and better suited for sitting still in a hide the shop has informed me.
