  1. Seems he's been off sick, work telling him they're going to change his job role to accommodate his injury and class him as disabled, then likely lay him off on the grounds off ill-health and start paying him his pension. The OP seems to be adverse about this and is concerned that the works doctor doesn't even remember the injury he had and whether he had a stick or a crutch. In the meantime he's not been getting the correct sick pick and is out of pocket, having to use his annual leave allowance to supplement his income. After talking to a woman at the benefits officer he learned none of the correct paperwork had been sent to the benefits office or DWP and had to do all this himself despite the fact it should have already been done. Fortunately the helpful woman from benefits office appears to have receive the paperwork from the OP and sorted him the correct entitlement for the time being. The OP then complains that everyone in the system has no pride in their job and hasn't done a very good job.
  2. Domestic cats go feral, the bigger ones are more competitive when it comes to breeding and hunting... Surely over generations we just end up with bigger stronger feral cats? More easily mistaken for "big cats"?
  3. Your dog will be absolutely fine in the garden the risk is incredibly low, although obviously I can't guarantee this. I would say it's far more important to get the dog used to toileting outside, this is why I don't like those toilet pads, your basically teaching the dog to do it's business inside. Just remember a puppy is a bit like a baby, they can't hold it for long and they need to learn where to go to the toilet. I used to take mine outside every 30-60 mins, when they go outside they get loads of fuss and cuddles and a tasty small treat. I would never punish of hit a dog for having an accident inside, just as I would never expect someone to punish a small child for having an accident inside. The old "rub their nose in it" is barbaric and cruel. Positive enforcement is the way to go - you can google the term. Also do you crate the dog when your out / over-night? Dogs don't mess in their beds, the crate should be small enough to turn around in and move comfortably but I've never left them big enough to go to the toilet inside. For this though you have to let the dog out frequently. Don't be one of those people who gets a dog and then locks it in the crate for hours on end. Good luck mate Also I'm sure we all want some pics of you walking your new lap dog lol
  4. 25% now isn't it? Although I have heard it rumoured some are as low as 20%, although I'm not sure who with! What did it used to be?
  5. Dodgy people working in the benefits offices selling your details? Should be a crime to sell others info like this!
  6. Check your company policy. In our council you have to phone in and alert them on the first day of your sickness, and if over 5 days you need a doctors note. Good luck mate
  7. Here's the question - once you've not run it in I'm assuming you can't go back and do the process ?
  8. I wondered this, are they included in a wider area?

I think it's just the way the vast majority of people are - always out for what's in it for them, or what they can get for nothing.
  10. Reading the article - they said the local are given 17 seats on the local council , but there are 24 seats from outside the Island who regularly out vote the locals on issues effecting the island. I'd be a bit peeved off in that case too. Wonder if they'll get independence and be allowed handguns like some other Islands lol
  11. Since doing a lot of gym and fitness work over the last few years I've not had a vomiting episode. Other people in the family have had it and been sick, I did get unwell with stomach cramps and going to the toilet just no vomiting - knowing my luck I know I'll have a bad one next lol
  12. Can you post the source of your information please ...

The thing with a thread is the same with all charitable stuff - the same people will be on it relentlessly asking for stuff whilst those who need a bit of a hand are too humble to ask.
  14. Nothing wrong with admitting that Jim. I recall once having a fight with my brother when we were both young lads. As I recall he even started it, he kept going for me so I gave a bit back. Instead of coming back again he started to cry. Don't think I've ever felt as ashamed as I did in that moment!
  15. They're too young when they can't understand why they're being punished, and when they old enough to understand it's better explained to them. Can't see what's wrong with the old "naughty step". Sit the child on the step, explain what they did wrong and tell them they've got to sit there for 5 mins of missed playtime. They'll move but if your CONSISTENT and always out them back they eventually learn. That's the problem tho it takes consistence and time after time. It's quick and easy to physically hit your child. Lots of families don't want to spend the time putting in the work. Just like every post on here about dog owners complains about unruly dogs and owners who don't give a toss. They can't be bothered to put in the work to train a dog to behave, then go off and have kids.
  16. Useless modern cack indeed!! I'll do you a favour and give you £100 take get rid of it for you and count yourself lucky lol
  17. You know the scams because they often don't have your name "Dear *your email address* " Genuine ones often use your full name which isn't on your email address ... always be careful tho!
  18. There are children who come to the attention of social services because they're genuinely being starved and found eating out of bins. There are children who genuinely suffer psychologically abuse. These children go through the court process to be taken into care due to these reasons. It's not ok and it's not equated to a slap on the legs. It's not ok and it's not legal. Your just trying to make silly comments. A child having a time out is not the equivelent of being in prison. And not being allowed to eat nothing but sweets or what they choose is not the same as being starved.
  19. What reports are they please? Genuinely interested in taking a look at the effects of the policies they had. Hopefully from reputable sources though.
  20. Every child I've met and worked extensively with (over several months) that did all those terrible things you describe were all beaten at home (if not also abused). Whilst most people on a shooting forum are often fairly well off (most atleast, it's an expensive hobby) and also fully le abiding, there is a huge part of society who aren't as well informed, have the same chances etc. It's the old school logic, if a dog pees in the house you rub his nose in it. It's now known that's not the way to train a dog, instead good communication and positive reinforcement are being used with great success. Most people seem to be working out that perhaps it's the same for children... And whilst we all know that a tap round the back of the legs etc isn't a big issue, once again it's not intended for the people who do that. Unfortunately once again it's the state try long to come up with silly "one size fits all" legislation that's just not realistic.
  21. I personally don't think it is good. I just recall seeing something about Germany being in a very similar position regarding them having huge amounts of citizens in retirement and low numbers of young people in work and some claiming the huge influx of young migrant workers was to help ease this problem.
  22. To expect things in 50 years time to be what they were like 50 years ago is probably a bit unwise. One way to boost pension income is to bring in lots of working age immigrants, yet the country has voted that they don't want to have lots of immigration from the EU (or elsewhere). I'd love to have a pension like people I know who are now retired. Final salary, guaranteed to go up 5% yearly, large payouts on retirement date, retirement at 55 and pension starts. Unfortunately times have changed and it's not going to happen. That's why I've started to look into other options. I hope to god I don't spent the next 40 years working and end up penniless. I've got 40 years until I reach 68!
  23. Surely we must remember that NI isn't JUST used to pay pensions? Some people think how lucky they are to live in a country where if you become unemployed you would receive benefits to keep yourself going (despite all their pitfalls). Many counties they have no such securities in place.
  24. I have a 687 Sporting which says Silver Pigeon on it with a 2 3/4 and 3" chamber and a later model S687 which doesn't mention Silver Pigeon but has a small silver pigeon engraved on the lever to break the gun. When my brother in laws licence comes through he is having one of them. Problem is, I want to keep them both now 😂
  25. Now this could be onto something. Whilst it wouldn't come under employers liability insurance, as it was part of his role to travel outside of the country they MIGHT have to cover him. You probably need to check his employment contract. When I worked abroad we were very clearly told to bring our European health care cards. If unwell we had to pay for ourselves, although the cost of visiting the doctors for 50 was always covered by the hotel we worked for as we would sent hotel guests to them if they needed a doctor. You only ever had to pay for your medications then. A friend went to hospital one time and was on a drip and again didn't have to pay anything. He showed them his EU healthcare card and gave some details and never heard anything else. Are they trying to bill your dad?
