old age mate not that i can talk, everytime someone on here starts asking if they have an open licence i have to go and re-read mine just to be 100% sure i have one :wacko: anyway, as this thread seems to have become popular again, lets ask the important question who's going to be the first to shoot and eat a rat?? obviousley i would volunteer for this crucial job, however i dont think a rat shot with a 12ga would be very edible, and a .22lr or .17hmr even less so, so we need some of our airgun toting members to take up the challenge to kill it, cook it, eat it (ratus ratus). any willing volunteers?

most of this row is pointless, the op said so the landowner has asked him to cull the geese, and so he posted here trying to find the most suitable way to do it with a rifle. if youre the type to question your landowner and ignore his wishes then fair play to you, but many of us arent so fortunate to have endless amounts of land to shoot over, nor do we have landowners who would be happy with us saying "no, thats not right, i wont do it". this is pest control, not sport, and as long as its legal and complies with the terms of the general licence then theres nothing wrong with it.

personally i think thats the biggest problem, blaming everything on "society" instead of tackling the issue head on. i know plenty of people who fall into the 2nd category. the reason they dont grab the opportunities that are handed to them is all the namby pamby "oh poor you dont worry, its societys fault youre fat/illiterate/lazy/violent" attitudes, simple answer is stop the benefits. one of my friend recently was laughing at me for going out to work. he has been on the sick for 20 years and was telling me how he gets £90 every week spending money, his rent gets paid for him, free dental treatment, etc. he drinks 7 nights a week and nearly everytime i text him he's sitting in the pub. he's as smart (if not smarter) than me, and comes from a hard working family. society definitely hasnt let him down from what i can see, he's just a lazy work shy ******* who has realised that by being "sick" he can sit on his backside all day, watching tv, drinking whenever he wants and not having a care in the world. simple answer is stop the benefits, stop the freebies, then theyll have no option but to go out and find a job.

listening to the video i think its more to do with the fact that the coursers operate in areas where theres more hares about, and so the hares are looked after a bit more, well managed/farmed, etc might be a better word. interesting all the same, though not my cup of tea
