Often use a .22lr with a mod for pigeons in my area where they are heavily shot at - decoys at 60-70 yards with the sun behind you if possible can be quite successful.

I would buy the Annie over a BSA all day long - superb rifles.

Isn't parallax the difference seen when viewing the same object but along 2 different lines of sight - not sure what 2 lines of sight are involved in clay shooting as your, single, master eye surely negates such phenomena?

Geco .22lr Semi-auto Rounds

With the greatest respect - not brilliant groups for 50 yards. I would have thought that saving money by purchasing cheap ammo is not a wise decision - you owe it to your quarry to use the best performing round in your gun, not the cheapest. I would spend some time trying various rounds (if you are a member of a club, fellow members will often donate 10 rounds?) then stick to the ones best suited to your barrel - personally I swear by RWS HV HP although they can be hard to find. -
Beautifully written, the love you feel for your Mum is plain for all to see. Be there for you Dad and you may find comfort in helping others to come to terms with this very sad event. Bless her and may her God keep her well.

The cast on most "economical" Spanish guns is negligible so if you are close by I would suggest you go and see how it shoulders - I'm a leftie but none of my 6 SxS's are .

Ring around for a man with a van - maybe even 2.

I just cannot get on with Hawke Stu - this is my favourite cheap old Nikko Stirling Gameking - superb for the money.

I use the same jacket over winter -well impressed. -
Rather than spend a fortune on finding which pellet the beast likes best ,Ken (of North Bucks Range) spent some time with my new love and rang yesterday to reveal that H&N Field Target Trophy work best - I was dubious but guess what? This man knows his stuff - she pops them downrange like a Laser Beam, if you hold the crosshairs on the bull and ease the trigger back a full stop appears where the crosshairs meet time and time again - sublime.

Got 900 grams (just under 2lbs) of FFG BP and a 1.5 ltr bottle of lead shot (god alone knows what it weighs!) going begging to anyone wanting to collect from MK area - relevant paperwork needed for BP - think the shot is a mix of 6 &7 .

Stunning looking Dog - my heart goes out to you, unless you have experienced the highs and lows, the passion of hunting together and the undying love of a good dog then you have never felt the heavy pain of losing such a dear friend. Chin up - fill yourself up with Prednisolone and find a rescue Spaniel to bring new life into the house. If you dont have a Dog then you will be less likely to be active - not a wise choice.

IMHO you should have had it removed within days of discovering the lump - time is vitally important when trying to prevent this disease spreading. Hope all goes well with the op - life's a **** when your best mate is ill.

Would it be worth buying a cheap Fishing Rod / Roach Pole from a Car Boot and adapting that?

OMG Stu - were going to have to get matching Tank Tops knitted.

Actually found a few samples of .177 knocking around including half a tin of Hunter extremes - when I sold my classic I gave away loads of different tins to a local club so I was relieved to find a few oddments laid around. Going to take it up the Range on Weds and try various pellets to see which give the best accuracy and ft/lb. Still in the "gazing at her with cow eyes" stage at the moment - they certainly look and feel special. When the other half takes her eyes off the bank balance I'm going to buy a LH cheek piece - should make shooting her a little more comfortable.

With a Dicky Ticker I'm 100% a bottle man Chaz25 - just had my tank retested - looks like it's been involved in a major RTA but she passed so that's good news. Will get some pics up of her asap.

Well the beast has come home. It is immaculate and I've spent all afternoon playing with her - popped a scope on and tried a few different pellets....she does NOT like AA Fields (first gun I have ever tried that does not get on with them) but was reasonably accurate with JSB heavies although, try as I did, she is not as accurate as my S410 over my 25 yards range. So after a quick read on tinternet I decided to clean the barrel - not as easy as you may think as the baffles prevent my pull through from sliding down the bore. Eureka! shoving a drinking straw down the business end before inserting said pull through helps considerably and the first 4 or 5 patches came out black as Tar. Back into the garden and, after retrieving my target from my Dog ( a retriever!!") I let 8 shots downrange and nearly had a little sex wee when I managed a ragged one hole group - tadaaaaaa. Gripes? early days but picking it up is a shock as it's so weighted towards the rear although I'm already accustomed to that - only other problem so far is that my finger seems to sit right at the bottom of the blade and rubs against the trigger guard - and I don't have particularly big hands? Not bothered to put the Hugget on as firing the gun results in little more than a click but I may fit it just cos it looks cool. So happy days at the moment but ,with my luck who knows what potential disasters await me.

Cannot understand why BSA ever stopped making these little gems - with an updated breach to take an O ring, a synthetic piston washer and a scope rail I would seriously consider buying one - far better than 90% of the tat churned out by the majority of modern gun manufacturers.

No Stu - it's a pretty little Wildcat........177, cased and with a Mod (think it's a Hugget Belita) all for a paltry £550. Little used and in mint condition this is what I have been searching for for the last couple of weeks, had lost all hope so ordered the Hortitsia but then there she was - staring at me out of the For Sale ad - must be fate (that's what I've told her indoors) - only downside is the "bit of a trip" to collect her.

What a difference a day makes!! When I started this search for a new toy I really had my heart set on one particular gun but they never seemed to drop within the price range that I was willing to pay - been searching for a couple of weeks but none came to light. So 2 days after ordering the Hortitsia I found myself this very morning trawling through the Ads on freeads (great site btw) just burning daylight when there she is - THE gun at a price that I'm happy with - calibre I want, case and Mod - all apparently in unmarked perfect condition. Quick call to Pellpax and my money was returned in a flash (cannot fault these guys) then deal struck on my new love and I'm looking at a 5 hour round journey this Sunday. Cannot wait - never handled one of these beasts before but their reputation is almost legendary. Pics on Monday.

I've bought the shorter (330mm) barrelled version OPP - not a great deal of choice as the importers seem to be struggling to obtain these guns. Never considered a .25 Chaz25 - suppose I could always buy multi coloured pellets and shoot rainbows across the sky if no squizzers were playing ball 😃 .
-
I already have an S410 carbine in .22 so I fancy something lighter in .177 - been looking at bullpups but the Hortitsia seems to have won my heart! I don't really plink and the gun will spend most of it's life upsetting squirrels. Taking my current health issues into consideration I may give some thought to sharing my forays with another enthusiast but the land manager is having problems with selection issues at the moment - previous applicants needed to be a member of a local club for at least 6 months and then have a written note of approval from the club owner but the club, as it was, has gone so not sure on the current state of play.

Not interested in the brewery I'm afraid but great to see you're posting again - you've been missed.

Jesus wept Mice - can you imagine me stumbling around the woodland carrying that thing? You would have to paint my hair pink and call me Nancy before such jocularity could ensue. Besides BAR charge a fortune to post, already over priced, guns. What I've gone and done is buy a Hortitsia - nobody has any in stock as, apparently, they sell as soon as they become available (this from several dealers) so I paid up front and one single gun with a wood coloured stock is now tucked up among many black stocked versions and slowly sailing my way.Gonna be 4 weeks till I meet my new toy but there's no rush - would like to thank the guys at Pellpax for bending over backwards to get me just the one I wanted. Stu - would never buy another Walther after buying the abortion that was the RM8 and as for Daystate or it's illegitimate offspring Ballcock - words fail me.
