So after months of anguish, decisions, late night review read ups and hours of contemplation, I had, as you may already know, decided on a lighter Air Rifle for my Squirrel bashing forays. My final decision was, truth be told, dictated by my heart rather than my head although the resulting Wildcat is renowned for it's lightweight and (bonus?) compactness. So with the arrival today of a rather smart looking "Tactical" BSA Gun Bag ("Tactical" - Latin for small, black and twice the price of absolutely anything without the word "Tactical" printed on it) I put my new combo together and popped her in her "Tactical" clothes and hoisted her on the scales, mmmmmmmmm, just over 11.5 lbs, Whoops. Anyone got a Bullworker gathering dust?

We have always watched is as a bit of light entertainment, we have picked up the odd tip/recipe idea but as my wife was trained by the Roux brothers we don't need much help.

Anyone endure the first of the new series? Where on earth did they dig up the "celebrities"? I think they have gone way below the bottom of the bucket, at this rate anyone ever caught by a speeding camera will be eligible, what utter garbage this program has now become.

Met a chap down club the other day got a dreamline - producing superb groups but all over the target! 5 shot one hole group then stop for a chat/fiddle/reload and the next 5 shot one hole group would be several inches from the last - several hours of investigation revealed that the barrel/collar that fit into the receiver were moving quite freely when in place and the barrel could visibly move from side to side! Not what you would expect from such a premium product and, from what I have since heard, the dealer is liaising with the supplier but not willing to replace the rifle as they are hard to source. BTW totally agree with Walker570 re the S200 - has to be one of the most under estimated / over looked Guns of all time.......bit like the A10 of the Aircraft world.....ugly.....but well hung!!

local Lass - 23 living in a council house with her single mother within shouting distance of us - just had her third child by 3 different fathers - 2 month's premature due to her drug habits - saw her this morning outside the Maternity Unit with a Spliff.

Going to try the Wildcat on the squizzers, Mice, cannot warrant all that money just cos she is pleasing on the eye! She dropped her first Magpie a few days ago - forgotten how little hold over for 50 yards with a .177 and I could actually see the first 2! shots sail over it's head - No3 found the target and his mate joined me watching him fall to the ground.Good shop!! The best m8 - North Bucks Range, formerly Gun & Country - Steve and Ken are genuine good guys, never feel obliged to buy anything and always willing to put the kettle on and chat for hours.

Some drugs can have nasty side effects but they can clear up after a short while, I assume that your body reacts to cure the problem in some way. One of my Immuno suppressants covered my back in boils for a couple of months but is fine now with no side effects. Prednisolone is good for Arthritis.

Mice - the Wildcat and I are firmly in love after she shot 5/5 in the 10 ring yesterday morning - don't think I've ever done that before. The Galahad though? now that's gotta be a case of beauty being in the eye of the beholder - I must have my eyes closed when I look at pictures of it - looks like the Bella Emberg of the Airgun world to me. The S410 is a superb rifle - if AA doubled the price than absolutely everybody would want one but because they are relatively cheap and thus plentiful, they are often overlooked for more expensive inferior alternatives. Buy the S410 and fit a Reg - doesn't really need one but you will always wonder if it would be better with one fitted (it wont) - my carbine, according to the shop that serviced it, is shooting 50 ish rounds with a max deviation of 7fps - I had sent it to have a service and a Reg fitting but they advised me to save my money.

We went via the current account route with 10k - open 4 accounts i.e. you, your wife, a joint and one in ,say, your daughters name. Send a payment from one to the other, then on to the next and so on each month and then pay a regular outgoing bill with each one making sure that you pay each relevant account out of your current account. Premium Bonds are safe but payout is obviously not guaranteed - we get around £150/year on 40k. Solar Panels are worth thinking about but you will have to wait for any profit although your energy bills will plummet in the meantime - after paying our energy bill our panels are making around £40/month but our energy bill is only £36/month.

Simmons 3-9 x 50 Deerfield scope - good nick, cannot promise any lens caps but I will have a quick look....£5 to cover postage + £5 in the very next charity box you see. Has 2 piece mounts but cap heads are a weird size???

I shoot a small copse (30 ish trees) and despite shooting 40+ each year there is a constant supply of newcomers - the nearest woodland is at least 3/4 mile away and over a busy road. I have no doubt that in a large woodland and in the right weather they will travel 1/2 mile with ease to reach a food source. I would try and keep feed stations to a minimum - if they are switched on to your bait (peanuts, peanuts or, if you cant get peanuts, then peanuts) then it's better to concentrate their numbers into a few areas - if they are not happy and there is another station nearby they will just move on.

True (OF) - but it's never been run on Scrumpy before either.

Shouting at the dog can be the worse thing to do - they assume that you are joining in the cacophony and simply bark louder
-
I still find it hard to believe that nobody has congratulated Mice on attempting shots at 8m - way beyond his normal comfort zone!!!

A lot depends on your taste and how the burgers are cooked - you can make the cheapest Morrisons burgers taste like nectar on a BBQ if you know what you are doing or a local artisan £10/burger taste like poo if you cook it in the oven. A common misconception, for example, is that McDonals use cheap cuts in their burgers but that's not the case - with their buying power and risk to their reputation they only buy the best.

12 BORE PERCUSSION LOADS NEEDED FOR 777 POWDER
bruno22rf replied to bishop's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
80 grains seems to stir a memory in my tiny mind so I guess that's what I used to use BP wise - 1 1/4 sounds about right too. I would still suggest that you start with a 1oz load and work your way up cos if you make a mistake it's going to be safer if you are not firing a heavy load. As a ROUGH guide - the plastic phials were about 3/4 full with the correct load in - till you have gained experience I would highly recommend that you use them thus keeping the main powder away from the gun when loading - they are anti static as well. -
12 BORE PERCUSSION LOADS NEEDED FOR 777 POWDER
bruno22rf replied to bishop's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
OK - as far as I know (but I am more than happy to be corrected) your 777 is used in the same VOLUME as BP but not the same weight. This means that, if you find a good starting load for BP and use a powder measure that measures by volume, you can mirror image the BP load with your 777. Go for a square load and work your way up - pour 1oz of shot into a spent cartridge that has been cut down so it just holds the 1oz load - bit of trial and error with a stanley knife but will not take too long (beside BP guns are very forgiving) - you can then use said cut down cartridge to measure your 777. Once you have got used to having a dirty face and everybody looking at you thinking that you are suffering from wind you can start increasing your load/powder to where you want it, but different wad combinations can alter pattern density just as much as too much/little powder. If you load your powder into plastic phials (recommended) then sit somewhere quiet and concentrate. -
Sorry - both found a very good home now.
-
Never used the stuff but I think 15% reduction, in weight, is about right so 1 1/4 load needs around 100 grains FFG BP so around 85 grains of 777 would be my guess.

You are quite within your rights to do what you are already doing, in fact you sound like you know the ropes. If you are concerned then why not pop round the neighbours and explain - not everyone is an anti.
-
OMG - the ONLY mower you will ever need - simply superb, any rough running normally due to dirt in the float bowl - undo the drain screw and let a cap full out and away you go for another year.
-
You can pick up something like an Air Arms S200 multi for not too much money and with a Mod fitted they are very quiet - you could also sound proof your target area with carpet? Why is noise such a problem?Shooting in your garden is not illegal so why the cloak and dagger? You say that your current gun sounds loud - have you actually had complaints?
-
Often use a .22lr with a mod for pigeons in my area where they are heavily shot at - decoys at 60-70 yards with the sun behind you if possible can be quite successful.

I would buy the Annie over a BSA all day long - superb rifles.
