  1. A Rabbit shot in the head with any pellet is dead-no pellet is going to make it more dead. The variable enters the argument when accuracy rears its head-competition winners use certain pellets because they offer superb accuracy-there are most likely only 5 manufacturers pellets commonly used in top level competitions-if these don't do it for you then nothing will. And yes, I have seen something different that I would be willing to try but I am also wise enough to be able to avoid the million and one things that are essential for shooting in the eyes of the shop owners. By all means buy some-I honestly hope that you find them the best ever-but I'm willing to bet you are back on normal pellets pretty soon.
  2. I'm with you ,sitsinhedges, everyday, quality, domeheads cannot be beaten in real life situations.Just about every day a new pellet comes out that will do everything apart from solve world poverty-how many of these "super" pellets are successful in competitions?
  3. Centralise your reticule by counting the number of clicks from max right to max left adjustment and counting the clicks-half the total puts your reticule in the centre. Pop the scope back on the gun and fire off a couple of shots at a target about 15 yards away-you should be within a couple of inches at the most-if not then either your mounts are damaged or your barrel has been knocked off centre-check that the support (looks like a figure of 8) has not been twisted slightly.
  4. You should find it in a ZUES book-if not just google it-most smaller metric are drilled about .8 under the thread size from memory.
  5. MP for Hull eh?-hasn't Hull been described as one of the top 4 failing cities in the UK? Maybe she should fix things closer to home before wasting time trying to grab votes.
  6. I have the 525 Sporter cos I like the wider rib-the later version has grade 3 engraving. Only shot about 50 shells thru it in 2 years cos I prefer my Hatsan semi 20g!
  7. My son had complaints made against him at primary school for biting other kids-so I bit him one evening and Hey Presto-problem stopped.
  8. Try the guy at R&K Stockraft-he's a trained Daystate engineer and seems to be able to strip/fix them with his eyes closed-mine will be going there for sure. Not far from you ( Stoney Stratford) so it could save you time/money-I think its johnny-01908561298.
  9. Odd -ICT suites are normally kept cold-ours is by far the coldest room in the school. The most likely reason for closing the school would be the "duty of care"-if a child was bitten and suffered a reaction then the school,. knowing that the spiders were present, would be liable.
  10. Easiest route would be to get someone to load a box using Triple Seven or Pyrodex-you don't need a licence to buy the stuff. As for cleaning the guns afterwards, if you do use BP then cheap windscreen wash (you can buy it premixed in Wilko's etc for a couple or quid) is as good as you will ever need.
  11. Don't like the guy or his lifestyle but "Captain fantastic" must be in the top 10.
  12. The Welsh lady has the answer-sit out all night with a clothes line prop in the hope of knocking one unconscious-I'm amazed that nobody has thought of this before-I'm selling my guns asap.
  13. If you get to the field and its grey with birds then you should put out every decoy that you possibly can-birds that have been feeding on the site will expect to find large groups-if , however, the birds are feeding in small, scattered , groups of 10-20 birds then I would reduce the decoys accordingly. As is usual, however, pigeons can be unpredictable and after setting up on a site carpeted with birds you may not see one all day-or worse still (never happened to me ) the birds pour in like gulls to a pasty and you find you couldn't hit a cows backside with a Banjo-I have "heard" of one chap who went thru 4 boxes of shells and only got 6 birds-and one of them was a Feral that was walking along the path.
  14. Hatsan do a junior semi 20g-might be worth a look.
  15. kdubya-you have clearly not tried ESB then-the Ale has won CAMRA's best strong ale award 7 times-no other beer, or brewery, has matched that.

If you have enough land and rabbits are a real problem then I would still urge you to go for a .22lr. Cutting your teeth, so to speak, on an Airgun will not really help much if you eventually get a .22lr-In my experience it works against you as you become accustomed to the trajectory of an Airgun if you use one long enough-instinct can then take over when you move on to a .22lr and you find yourself applying entirely the wrong holdover/under -I still do sometimes and that's after 15 years of using the lr . As for putting a moderator on a springer-try standing near a can, but protected from being shot, and have a mate shoot the can with and without a mod fitted-very little difference IMHO . No such worries with a moderated .22lr-less noise that a trout f a r t.
  17. Fullers ESB-must be one of the all time greats-Tesco have 4 bottles for £5 at the moment-talk about a bargain.

How much land?-a moderated .22lr would be cheaper and far more effective than any Airgun.
  19. I use copper grease on choke tubes and light grease on high stress areas such as the hinge pin-other moving parts get a light dab of engine oil from a cotton bud-the outside, barrels e.t.c get WD40 or Browning Legia (superb quality and worth the extra).
  20. Diesel in the sump would be a head gasket gone surely?
  21. I saved £300 by switching suppliers last year-I try to switch around March time as the best deals seem to be then-look for bonuses like clubcard points as well cos they do add up-paperless bills and direct debit along with a longer term fixed price deal can all help lower the price-take your time because companies will quite often call you back a few weeks after you spoke to them with a better offer.
  22. Your safest bet is to not tell ANYBODY-keep your head down and hope that nobody ever finds out.
  23. Wymberley-just to clarify-I have a record for 4 separate charges of armed trespass whilst using a gun and ammo that I did not have a licence for + a few other things that I am not proud of. These offences were previous to me being granted a SGC and later, an FAC. These offences were a long time ago but still have to be declared.
  24. Surely this Ammo can be traced and recalled? If not then why all the form filling when you buy the stuff? -EB need to get their fingers out before someone gets hurt and they find themselves on the wrong side of a lawsuit.
  25. I have a criminal record, Armed trespass(x4),Holding a shotgun without a licence to name but a few. In my 35 years of SGC ownership and 15+ years of FAC I have never shot at anything that I was not legally allowed to-nor have I ever felt the urge to. I wonder, RossEM ,as you are local if you would like to meet up and explain why I should not have a gun (or,in fact,an explosives) licence? I love a good pint and a debate.
