A difficult decision time Iโve dreaded
bruno22rf replied to Shambam1962's topic in General Shooting Matters
Ask your GP to let you have a heart monitor fitted before you go out, as long as someone is with you then hopefully you will be OK if an attack should happen - if it does then the heart monitor will reveal all. -
A difficult decision time Iโve dreaded
bruno22rf replied to Shambam1962's topic in General Shooting Matters
Maybe you could think about using your experience to teach others while you wait for the knee Op? Is there a range nearby where you could maybe offer your services? Or with there being a world full of carp Dog owners out there I would imagine you may find plenty of owners more than happy to boast that their little PooChitz has been "Gundog" trained.Maybe a quad would be useful for you? In the current climate I would worry about giving up my ticket but things may be different where you are so lot's of thought needed (I'm guessing you've already done that) before making a final decision. I wish you all the very best whatever decision you make, fingers crossed that the knee gets sorted and then you can get back to what you love doing. -
OMG - you MUST find and alternative to Richmond, think Waitrose do dogs with just salt and black pepper and HECK I think are herb free. If you cannot find another alternative to Richmond then may I suggest bicycle inner tubes.

If you fire enough pellets at targets on the extreme edge of Air Rifle ranges then eventually you are going to hit something - but the ones that you gut shoot or maim don't make it into your clips, it's fairly easy to be Annie Oakley on video.

Thank you for that but that actually brings little consolation I'm afraid, we have been invited out for dinner tomorrow and the lady that cooks is,er,a little "challenged" skill wise so what has been lined up as "Meat Pie" is already filling me with dread. Promise not to post pics of Kebabs again and our "friendship" may be salvageable ๐.
-
Adore kebabs done this way, couple of pineapple chunks thrown on as well and I'm in heaven, I hate both of you that put pictures on this thread cos I've got scrambled Eggs for tea tonight and I hope you are both bloody proud of yourselves ๐คจ.

Update, gun arrived today and the pics don't really do it justice - it's actually in very good condition. Great bloke to deal with and 100% genuine nice guy so here's a public thanks Adam - very much appreciate your time and effort in this matter. Another PW real Gentleman . -
Our heating broke (started leaking) about a month ago so hasn't been on even if we wanted but we don't usually put it on till temps get down below 10. We have a south facing house with a conservatory so as soon as the sun comes up the conservatory temp shoots up - opening the doors between the house and conservatory warms the downstairs rooms nicely.

Agree, in fact if I visit a pub where people are allowed to smoke just outside the door then I would not return.
-
Dont mind it on it's own or with a dip but it puts a flavour in food that I find people tend to comment afterwards so I dont use it much anymore. Similar experience with Lardon's tbh?

With the amount of sugar in a S&S meal I doubt that celery is going to make it diet anytime soon!! I dont really like the taste and ,to my mind, it leaves a horrible background taste in Spag Bol.
-
Now there's a man that knows his sauce - Kikkoman is the king of Soy .Never tried celery in a S&S, I'm a boring bean sprout and water chestnut man, oddly enough this is pretty much what I'm cooking tonight - S&S Chicken (in tempura batter) with stir fried peppers, onions, carrots, water chestnuts and bean sprouts all thrown to a pan of noodles. So far I've let the other half mix the slurry for the sauce and, as she did it by eye, it's virtually bleedin jam ๐คฌ. So much for her being a qualified chef.

Top man, may I suggest NATCO for online spices, postage is very reasonable and their spices are top notch.
-
If you ever fancy having a go but dont want to buy the spices just give me a shout and I'm happy to post you what you need foc.

Doubt that the scope makes much difference OPP, scope mounts are manufactured to hold the scope tube central then the actual scope obviously has adjustment, I would centralise the scope, check the mounts by eye along the barrel, refit and see how far out the windage is, I would say anything over 3 inches left/right deviation @25 yards indicates a problem. Bent/misaligned barrel, damaged scope, etc.
-
Think it's a HW100 variant.
-
Totally understand. lot easier when you're retired.
-
There must be something wrong if you need to shim a scope to get windage adjustment.

Have a go at doing it from scratch - Jalfrezi is fairly easy as you can do it with only 4 spices. Slow cook the base sauce/gravy for 6-7 hours (try the BBC recipe) and marinade the meat (pataks do a jalfrezi paste) after cutting it into chunks and putting it in a zip close bag with a little oil and lemon juice and a good dose of paste. Give the bag a good massage to coat the meat then pop it all in the fridge then give it another massage every time you go to the fridge. About 2 hours before you intend to serve up roast the meat on metal spikes over a tray for 15 minutes at 210 conventional then remove and char with a blow torch. Put the meat in a bowl and cover with foil and allow to sit then around 3/4 hour before you serve add the meat to the sauce and make sure your slow cooker is on high. Serve with whatever you like, if you have naan bread avoid buying it from Supermarkets, look around your area for Indian food stores and buy from them. Give it a go, you should find it beats anything you can buy in a jar.
-
Onion salad looks perfect, jalfrezi could do with a little more colour? What spices did you use?
-
Well done on the all clear, huge relief I would imagine. Welcome to the madhouse, there's quite a few good blokes on here and some real rascals that I wont name (Ditchie) so pull up your chair and get blethering about how many crows you have shot 15 miles away with a Gat pistol or that Woodcock you dropped shooting backwards looking in a mirror.

Is it free? If so I'll have as many as you've got ๐.

๐ข Sorry, missed your post, after walking the dogs this morning I had to sleep (operation last Monday) but well done to whoever got it, maybe a small review would be possible? -
Chicken Madras with Plain Rice and Kadhi Pakora.

There's 2 Scotch Bonnets in the sauce so butter/rice together act as an extinguisher!!
