I think that when J.M. Browning was designing weapons there was not the choice of well built, proofed, easily available guns.

It would appear he has managed to construct a weapon that is slower to reload than a Semi-Auto, Pump or Break Barrel!
As said above fit the 1/2 choke and pattern it with your chosen cartridge at the range you expect to shoot at.
Then try with the other more open chokes, the results will give you some evidence to be able to make a decision.
