  1. I must admit I am not sure, but a decent local gunsmith could advise you. At that particular gauge an alternative would be a 'decent' silenced air rifle. But I suppose £££ comes into the equation at some point. Never the less, interesting... (by the way how much are a box of 25 cart. for 9mm?)
  2. I notice that Byrnes are having another auction of Sporting Guns & Country Pursuits. A few interesting items in the catalogue inc Purdeys! Anyone going? I might drop as I am in the area http://www.byrnesauctioneers.co.uk/BidCat/...9S&status=C

Loads, but best has to be.. Can-Am Qualifier (250cc Bombardier engine) civilian version, quite rare? hell of a good enduro bike
  4. I have found that if you take your eye off aluminium with a blowtorch you can end up with a bigger problem as it has melted into a bigger hole that you started with. Can you pop rivet thicker aluminium plates over the area and glass fibre from within?
  5. My girlfriend found a phone a couple of years ago. We rang obvious numbers on the phone (eg Mum, Home etc) but no-one answered The phone rang so we answered it. The phone owner started 'ranting' on the phone. We tried to explain that we had found it They accused us of stealing it. I explained that we could meet up in Liverpool (where they lived) after the weekend They were screaming at us down the phone. I offered to take to a police station and hand it in They got very abusive, swearing etc. So i said, "The next sound you here is an axe going through your phone" Put it on the chopping block and chopped it End of!

The first time I got married, I went to Ireland on honeymoon. Loved it.
  7. If I remember correctly my FEO advised me of where to put my cabinet, before I fitted it, at my initial interview.
  8. Can anyone direct me to a diagram of an AYA Yeoman o/u, I need to identify a part of the mechanism. Cheers
  9. Just come in from the workshop Drifted out the pin holding the latching mechanism, which on inspection had bent slightly over the last 60 yrs, so.... Heated it up to red hot, opened out the catch, let it cool and reassembled it using lots of care, wet n dry, and wd40 Working perfectly!!! woo hoo (I've been meaning to sort it out for the last 15 yrs or so!)
  10. I have stripped this air rifle down to re-furb the stock. I am having trouble with getting the cocking lever to 'latch' back onto the barrel after cocking. Does anyone know if this is a common problem? Is there a solution? Cheers
  11. I've put up barbed wire. My mother visited and said she thought it was illegal. I told her it was to keep the giraffes in. She said 'you don't have giraffes' 'Yes, they escaped, so I put up the barbed wire!!'
  12. BBC News website:- "A man has been charged with the murder of British Army officer Robert Nairac more than 32 years ago. Kevin Crilly, 59, from Lower Foughill Road, Jonesborough, was charged with the murder and two counts of kidnapping and false imprisonment." There is no doubt that Nairac was a hero he refused to say anything even after horrific torture.
  13. Best buy - Cabknoll Gun Cabinet £20 Worst buy - Rip off DVD of Sharks Tale £3
  14. Do you know where you can buy them from??
  15. In one of D. Brian Plummer's books he quotes an aquaintance that uses: 'a piece of sping steel, folded, and bound with 'gut'. Pressed into a ball of 'putrid' mutton' Fox eats 'baited' ball of meat, stomach juices dissolve 'gut' , spring steel expands, horrilble death for Chas. James Not nice, but taken with usual 'pinch of NaCl'
  16. I got the stock out this evening, to show the girlfriend, and struggled to find where the repair was!
  17. Quick tip I had a small cut in the stock where i had fitted a new butt plate. So... Brown wax crayon, warmed slightly to make it slightly softer, filled carefully, smoothed and polished off! Invisible!!
  18. I bought a AYA Yeoman off here with a broken bottom firing pin as a project. My local gunshop has informed me that the bottom pin is obsolete and only the top one is available (they can make one for it). I am curious if the top pin will fit if rotated half turn. A long shot, I know, but I wondered if anyone has any experience of this? Cheers
  19. Grandfather ex-REME His brother ex-RA Thankful that you came through it (WWII) in one piece. Deep thoughts with those who have lost loved ones.
  20. Yeah, a mate of mine converted a cylinder into a log burner in his workshop!!
  21. i did mine with transport enamel and a roller, however lack of money and enthusiasm means it sits with 2.5 half fitted!!!!!!
  22. I bought a s/h Clarke from a friend in 1990, I have sprayed loads of cars, vans, lorries etc. Don't get a directly driven compressor, get one that has the motor seperate, that way if the motor goes pop, it can be repaired by simply obtaining another motor. If a direct drive motor burns out the whole thing becomes useless.
  23. Out of a kit... however an old friend in Cheshire has a micro-brewery, so I am going to ask him for a few 'genuine' ingredients to have a go at it 'properly! The Xmas beer is a traditional old english ale.
  24. Ahh home-brew! I bottled my Xmas Ale on Thursday night! I need to get the cider started next weekend. The girlfriend has been mainly making pickled onions for the Xmas cupboard. I traded 4 jars of pickles/chutneys with the folks next door for a bottle of whisky, woohoo!
