  1. yes its trial and error and experimenting thats how you learn i meself have moved it 5 or 6 times to find best position including behind me but you need to be able to shoot behind as well though because it will enevatabley draw birds from behind and not to you sometimes but you are going right way about it
  2. have done but still havin teething problems suppose its just gettin used to doin it
  3. plenty of bare rape where i shoot so should see em on it throughout april after all drillings have gone in.as you know yerself it tends to concentrate em on the shorter stuff when rest field has grown away.
  4. a lot of carrions to if not mistaken.that wont be able to eat any eggs or chicks this spring
  5. i wish i could mate but workin all week.had a few good days on rape recent so not to bad.
  6. HI all still tryin to work out how to send photos with story and quality not good either taken on me mobile.. 2nd pic from today.so this could go wrong.had 2 good days on rape recently one bag of 55 another of 34 today from same area but different fields. blowing a gale today made the birds move had a steady flightline following a line of trees to rape field so set up under ash tree that some birds were pulling into.put out 16 decoys and a floater to start then once i had 2 down set the whirly up to the left of my position as wind was blowing left to right. coys straight in front so the birds pulled across my front to give some brilliant shooting not many with 2nd barrel as wind blew em out of range in a flash after 1st. but still managed 3 right and lefts
  7. good stuff tom cant wait to get over there in april looks like plenty to go at but save some for me
  8. you mentioned you set a horshoe pattern with a whirly.was the whirly placed in the decoy pattern or to one side or in front .
  9. good to see some decent bags coming in on drillings this year not much to report meself compared to last could not go wrong but farmer not put any beans in on me local permission as normal but all aside well done lads always nice to see someone havin a a decent go at em.
  10. i dont know if you have heard of rick bestwick gamedealers they take fresh and frozen birds.and will also collect over 200 pigeons.which would be best for you because they are based in chesterfield.i.m sure they have a website.try them out
  11. well done good bag. I was out meself today shooting near barley drilling.i had to shoot at a little copse 200 yards from the drilling because it had houses down one side a public footpath down another and a main road in shot distance but wind was strong and whipped the birds round and came in range of me whirlly .so ended up with 23. but would have trebled that if i could have shot the field they wanted.enjoyed the day out with some brilliant sport
  12. any shell decoys about a dozen to start then build up as you go along. stealth cammo nets are good for any season. and personally i use 30g 6s either clear pigeon.or express pigeon load. but if available i wont look past rio 30g 6s.and all 3 cost around £43 for 250.
  13. i have used em since last september and find them very good i have used em with no other decoy aids and can say they work very well.but having said that if you are in the right place and the pigeons want the part of field you are set up any type of pigeon decoy will work.
  14. swipe 007 is missing the point if you place your decoys any old way incoming pigeons do not have a place to land if no spaces for em to head for. and usually land right at the back of the decoys then giving you less chance of killing 2 birds if more than 1 come in
  15. hi mate i always find if placed directley in front of you between 15 and 25 yards.with decoys behind whirly in a horseshoe or dog leg depending on wind direction. they seem to responed best to that layout well for me anyway also position a floater to 1 side pointing to decoy pattern.try that out
  16. hi mate i,m new joined last week but forgot to introduce meself just getting used to sending messages on site :(
