  1. Are you sure you want a multi-choke? Unless you shoot both trap and sporting, personally I wouldn't bother. Most people, once they get used to their gun, stick with 1/4 and 1/4 or 1/4 and 1/2,which willsuffice for 99% of all shooting. I can understand how a relative newcomer to shooting can grow to believe that swapping chokes around means you'll hit more, but that simply isn't so. Teague do a very good service I believe, but unless your gun is choked at either end of the scale(1/4 and full for example) then I wouldn't go to the expense, but instead get your gun fitted correctly and practise a consistent mount.Do this and you'll come to realise just how little difference chokes make.
  2. Yes....it may be classed as a firearm but it fires shot.Check withyour shooting organisation if you're still unsure.
  3. If you're unhappy with a biased or sensationalist report in a newspaper or any other media, then you have to let them know,or bring the article to the atention of one of the shooting organisatons. All it takes for bad, untrue or biased news to damage our way of life is for you and me to do nothing!

Somebody should club him.Hope he's prosecuted.

    ferriting

I tend to agree with foghorn on this one.Far too early for me also.
  6. It's not advisable to give ferrets more than one raw egg a week;as they can cause diarrhoea and hair loss, and too much milk will also cause the former.Boiled eggs should be fine, and they can get extra calcium from the shells, but I still wouldn't give more than two each a week, but that's my preference.

    bloody furious!!!!

I have an 11 year old lad also, and I'm dreading this happening as I don't think I could control myself.I was bullied as a child, severely, and then I eventually started fighting back....the bullying eventually stopped, but at the expense of gaining a bit of a reputation as a bad 'un.I have a teenage daughter also....it's not easy being a parent is it? My lad goes to Ju Jitsu and can make his 15 year old cousin scream at times! I studied martial arts for donkies years, and have found this and Aikido to be the most practical. Watched a prog'last night about David Newlove(?) who was beaten to death by 4 pieces of **** when he remonstrated with them about months,if not years of harassment and vandalism to his family and property.they were laughing and smirking in court and will no doubt be free in less than 20 years.Absolute scum! Hope your lads ok.Regards.
  8. According to another website which 'Guns on Pegs' were advertising on prices varied between £24 to £35 per bird for Pheasants.
  9. A friend of mine has tried them,he says he's not noticed any difference. I think the thinking behind the design is to minimise ricochets, which the .22 rf is notorious for.
  10. Yep,those are Winchokes alright.I bought Teagues for my 101,and so the only ones I use now and again are the skeet ones.Give me a shout if you need any more;I have about half a dozen.
  11. Ozzyfudd....get yourself down to your local WHSmiths and buy(or order a book entitled: 'The Easy Way To Stop Smoking',by Alan Carr.(Not the gay comedian..he's a different sort of fag!).If you really want to stop this book will put you in the right frame of mind, and that's what stopping is....a mind game.I know loads of people(only blokes for some reason)who have stopped after reading this book.I was a bit sceptical at first but it works....believe me.No withdrawel symptoms,no biting your fingernails....simple. He went from smoking 80 a day to zero, and then went on to earn his living by helping people to stop. What have you got to lose? Unfortunately the 80 a day had already done its damage, and he died last year(I think)from cancer, but his books are still selling well.
  12. Ditto to everything that clayman has posted. If you're a relative beginner then there is so much to learn, and so much to 'get right' between picking up the target and taking the shot.It takes time and lots of practise to get that moving gun mount the same each and every time you do it.A few lessons with a good coach will be well worth it. Pigeons and crows are moving faster than you think;don't be deceived by those crows that just seemto be 'hanging' there in the sky, they're definitely moving! We've all been through it,so find a coach and persevere.
  13. Those are excellent photo's considering they were taken on a phone. We were around our duck pond yesterday and there were dozens o dragonflies and Damselflies flitting about....and an ominous 'wake' under the surface!Good pic's.
  14. Shadowchaser, your SGC doesn't specify what type of shotgun ACTION you are eligible to own.You get your shotgun cert' and then go out and buy the one of your choice..you do not have to specify what action you are going to buy.You can buy s/s,o/u,or semi-auto without fear of breaking any laws. The type is entered on your ticket at the point of sale. If however, you bought a o/u and licensing have it recorded as a auto,or vice versa, they will want to know why you didn't inform them. They can make life incredibly difficuilt for you if they so choose..A mate of mine almost had his FAC revoked due to a mix up regarding moderators,if his gundealer hadn't kept meticulous sales records(which showed licensings to be wrong)then things could have got nasty.Hope this helps.
  15. MATALAN=CHEAP SHIRTS....Bo****ks to the washing, get out and go shooting!(Failing that I'd go for the bi-carbonate of soda)Military training is a wonderful thing....I dont think!
  16. Get it sorted pronto as it will create all sorts of problems in the future if you don't. Check it before you sign it.
  17. Have an 11-87 SP,rate them very highly.Only problems I've had have been down to me letting it get a bit too dirty....but I do use it a lot,and if I cleaned it after each outing it would be a full-time job!Cracking piece of kit.
  18. You seem to have taken offence at some posts which differ in opinion to that of yours Mungler! I never claimed there was anything scientific regarding my post;I ,unlike you apparently, have nothing to prove.I choose 7.5's because I find they work for me,but I 'll quite happily use 6's;these are superb for bolting bunnies incidentally. I 'don't think' the game shot was using 7.5's,I know he was.Whether you choose to believe me or not,is entirely up to you,I'm just telling it like it is.
  19. I shoot corvids and pigeons with Kent velocities in 28gm,7.5's, through quarter choke on a regular basis.Pricked birds are few and far between.I know of a bloke who had his best driven Pheasant day using Gamebore Blue Diamond 28gms in 7.5. I was picking up;he didn't miss much, nor did I have to knock them on the head.
  20. I'm a Tradis panel builder(fancy eco-friendly,heavily insulated,'breathable' timber frame builder!),but we've gone fairly quiet since the recession bit.Was off for 4 months over last winter,so got in plenty of shooting.I'm a paint effects specialist by trade,so go self-employed whenever the Tradis side goes too quiet.I also sell my paintings (mostly acrylics)through local galleries and exhibitions, but not as many as I would like. Most of them are sold eventually, but would like it on a more regular basis.
  21. While it is illegal to sell a gun out of proof(whether you're a dealer or a private seller)it is quite legal to 'give away'an out of proof gun.It is not illegal to use an out of proof gun either, but your mate stood next to you may not be too chuffed! I have been using a very old Winchester Model 12 for years which has never been 'proved'.I cannot sell it without having it proofed, but I could give it away, but I have no intention of doing either;it's very fast on pigeons.
  22. On a stud wall(whether it's dry-lined or not) the boards will be fixed at either 400mm or 600mm centres,as the boards are 1200mm wide.If you start in a corner and measure 400mm along the wall, knock in a nail at this point. If you can pull it out with your fingers(even after wiggling it!)then try the same at 600mm.if you can't pull out the nail with your fingers, then you're into a stud. All my cabinets are fixed in this manner, either with coach bolts and or chemical fixing.FEO has no worries at all.Good luck.
  23. BRNO and CZ are now two seperate companies.Ruger M77 are nice rifles;the Sako Finnfire is a lovely rifle and something of a collectors item nowadays. The cheaper end of the market are trhe CZ's and BRNO's,and to be honest you wont get more gun for your money than one of these.I own a synthetic CZ and I.ll keep it 'til it wears out,and then I'll get another!
  24. If the Winchester is a 101 and is as good as you reckon, then I would snap it up.Very collectable.
  25. Have used surgical spirits in the past, dabbed on with a cotton bud.Worked ok. Sounds like a cracking ferret!
