  1. The rates that I got are for orders of 3 tonnes and above
  2. I've just paid £289 for grower pellets and £260 for poult pellets per tonne. I have to pay about £80 per tonne extra for Flubenvet to be added. All pellets are supplied in 25kg bags and the prices include delivery.
  3. I don't want to swap for anything, but could do RFD if needed. I'm also going to the PW charity shoot at Hodnet on Saturday if that helps?
  4. Mine is a Lintran and must be almost 20 years old now. They come up regularly on ebay
  5. I will take them if they are still available
  6. I use these http://collinsnets.co.uk/product/fox-grid-pop-hole
  7. There's a guide on the link below: http://www.heygatesfeeds.co.uk/pheasant-feeds/ Heygate's pack their feed in 20kg bags, others use 25kg bags, which will obviously make a difference to the number of bags needed. We release 1,600 pheasants and I order 6,000kg of pellets, as I think keeping them on pellets for a couple of extra weeks produces better birds.
  8. I would pressure wash the IBC's and then disinfect with Virkon S, especially if they haven't been used for a few years, I would also replace the water pipes. The poults will take care of the nettles themselves, as above just clear a path and spaces for your feeders and drinkers so the birds can find them easily.
  9. Tips are still taxable. Doesn't matter what you call it, or what the keeper says, or the fact that its only £20 its all income and taxable
  10. Shoots don't want to stop tax from beaters pay, but most shoots are forced to under the RTI rules. Keepers tips are exempt from PAYE, but are still taxable and should be declared by the keeper

  12. I'm planning on making some before next season. I was going to use last years pheasant pellet bags cut in to strips and attached to 6mm or 8mm poly rope. I will thread the strips of bag through the braid of the rope and cable tie them in place, to stop them sliding down the rope. Its normally used to stop birds running through to the end of a wood, so they flush further back when they get to the swelling. You just need a beater at the end of the rope to twitch the line, or let the line lay on the ground and pull it up as the birds approach to flush them. You will also need to be able to reel the swelling in after the drive, if its left out all the time the birds will get used to it, and take no notice of it
  13. Yes, I had the same thing. At one point they were shining a light in my mouth, and trying to see it in my nose.... I'm not a fan of the dentist at the best of times, so it was pretty grim. It's rock solid now, and feels the same as all my other teeth
  14. That sounds about right, it takes a while for the bone to grow around the implant, to make it stable enough to take the tooth. I didn't get black eyes though. When they fit the actual tooth, they screw a bolt into the implant, tighten it with a small torque wrench, and bond the tooth to it. Fitting the implant is the worst bit, the rest isn't too bad
  15. I had exactly the same thing a few years ago. Tried shooting a few days after it was fitted and it didn't feel right, so left it for a couple of weeks, and it was ok after that. It took a long time (over a year) to settle down and feel natural. I don't notice its there now
  16. This is the correct answer. The whole cost of the van, including the VAT as you are not VAT registered, can be offset against your business profits for the year. It's not claimed as an expense though, its a 100% capital allowance within in the Annual Investment Allowance. If you sell the van in the future, whatever you sell it for will be added to your income for that year as a balancing charge, increasing the amount of tax payable.
  17. Try to get some wheat. As above, they will eat barley at a push, but if any local shoots are feeding wheat you might struggle to hold your birds
  18. SABS, Great pictures and write up as usual. It was a pleasure to have you and TGL shooting with us, and I'm very pleased that you both had a good day. Thanks for spending a few quid on the PW raffle, raising money for a very good cause, and for making the effort to travel down to Northamptonshire. Cheers Colin You are correct!
  19. Chris at UK Gunworks isn't too far from you. He supplies and fits barrel's from most manufacturers, and will be able to advise you on which barrel best suits your needs http://www.ukgunworks.co.uk/
  20. You need to keep him away from the covers! He should only be pushing the birds back from areas where you don't want them, I wouldn't want them back in the pens during the day at this time of year. You should be encouraging the birds out to the covers to feed, as that's where you want them to be on shoot days, they will usually return to the pens in the evening to roost on their own. If you keep disturbance to a minimum, I'm sure they will find their way back to the covers in a few days
  21. Sounds like feather pecking to me too. How big is the pen?
  22. Kicks GT choke to fit Beretta Mobilchoke guns. Its in used condition and the finish is a little bit thin in places from normal use. I'm looking for £25 posted. http://www.kicks-ind.com/category/gobblinthunder.html http://www.kicks-ind.com/product/GTBerMC12g.html
  23. Countrywide is you best bet, I've seen mustard seed on the shelf in there before
