I would be quite happy to explain this phenomenon to you. But I can't, because I'm as much at a loss to understand it as you are! However, you have given me fresh ammunition in my ongoing **** take of my best mates new puppy. Its a cross yorkie/chihuahua, better known as a Chorkie apparently!

New guy at the local HFT club got a new scope and couldn't get it anywhere near a zero, the turret on the left hand side was not picked up as 2 other people tried to zero it.

£37/month (I think, thereabouts anyway). Use it 3 times a week, about 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of stretching. TBH it's all about the stretching for me. I suffer with my back due to work and it tends to be as a result of certain muscle groups being abused and locking up a bit. This affects posture which affects your back musculature, which affects posture and repeat until paralysis! Lots of proper stretching after warming everything up (hence the 30 minutes cardio) works wonders at keeping me off the osteopaths couch...as well as making it easier to drag my knee sliders across the tarmac at Brands Hatch!

Silly question, has he got the turret orientation right, I've seen it before where it was twisted through 90 degrees in the mounts making the windage turret appear to be the elevation or vice versa.

This smells like a ripe egg!

You could try masking some shooting glasses. A bit of scotch tape to obscure the rib of the gun from your left eye. Cheap ,reversible and you don't lose all of your peripheral vision, I use a 1cm square. Made a huge difference to me, it was only on certain targets that I struggled badly though. Springing teal, and low, quartering, incoming birds most noticeably.

Paul. What an utterly disappointing, ****, film!

I do take a knife hunting and fishing with me that is longer than 3" and fixed blade. It always stays in the sheath and bag or box when in public so isn't on my person, I would argue that I had 'good reason' to carry it as I was going to or coming back from fishing/hunting. I'm still not convinced having looked at it that it's legal to do so though.

No. I have my clays gun and my live gun, the former being an O/U that I wasn't going to wreck on the marsh and the latter an old Beretta semi auto.

I found some info that I've pasted below... The Criminal Justice Act (1988) says that you may carry a knife with a blade length of 3.0" or less so long as it is capable of folding. That means no fixed blade knives. But use your loaf - a knife has no place at a football match, in a pub, nightclub or school and becomes an offensive weapon in these circumstances in just the same way as a screwdriver, or any other innanimate tool. f you wish to carry a larger knife then you must have 'reasonable cause'. That means that you must be able to prove that you had a genuine reason for carrying the knife. You may carry a larger cutting tool if it is associated with your work (for instance a chef may carry a 9.0" butchers knife roll to and from work), or if it is associated with your sport, (for instance a fisherman may carry a 6.0" fillet knife, or a hunter may carry a 4.0" fixed blade hunting knife). However, if taken literally it seems less clear. The actual act wording makes no reference to knives as part of equipment associated with a pastime. I think that if it was me, I'd ring the local Police and ask for clarification. 139 Offence of having article with blade or point in public place.E+W (1)Subject to subsections (4) and (5) below, any person who has an article to which this section applies with him in a public place shall be guilty of an offence. (2)Subject to subsection (3) below, this section applies to any article which has a blade or is sharply pointed except a folding pocketknife. (3)This section applies to a folding pocketknife if the cutting edge of its blade exceeds 3 inches. (4)It shall be a defence for a person charged with an offence under this section to prove that he had good reason or lawful authority for having the article with him in a public place. (5)Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (4) above, it shall be a defence for a person charged with an offence under this section to prove that he had the article with him— (a)for use at work; (b)for religious reasons; or ©as part of any national costume. (6)A person guilty of an offence under subsection (1) above shall be liable- [F1(a)on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum, or both; (b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding [F2four] years, or a fine, or both.] (7)In this section “public place” includes any place to which at the material time the public have or are permitted access, whether on payment or otherwise. (8)This section shall not have effect in relation to anything done before it comes into force.

When I renewed the 'new posts' page there wer two headings that stood out. '62 Yard pigeon' and '312 yard pigeon' . I opened the page fully expecting dozens more keyboard warrior style comments regarding the distance of shot etc, strangely none, maybe nobody's noticed yet? Amazing shot taken by an obviously highly skilled artist, oh to be THAT good!

That's all well, good and commendable. However, one of my permissions is never going to get firearms approval due to allotments behind it and another private property to one side, the only useable weapon is the legal air rifle and even then the angles of fire are restricted. Sometimes you don't have the option but to do the job you may have to take on some longer shots.

I've checked the 50 yards box, I have shot and killed rabbits at more (62 metres, yes, measured. ) but that was more down to mis-ranging it a bit in the mist although I was aware it was a long shot. It hit lower than I would have liked unsurprisingly, but was still instantly fatal. That said, I very rarely shoot more than 40 metres on live quarry unless the conditions are spot on and that's rare. I do however regularly plink targets at up to 60 metres.

Couldn't agree more, especially the bit about the test. I scuba dived off ribs for years and as a result became a BSAC boat handler which is basically RYA Powerboat one plus a bit of diving specific stuff, I then bought my own fast fisher and did RYA powerboat 2. There is so much that NEEDS to be learned before people should even consider putting to sea, not to mention the basic safety requirements onboard, yet year on year you hear of boats being rescued because they ran out of fuel...and didn't have a radio..or flares...and didn't realise that they may not have phone signal 5 miles offshore...and they don't have an anchor so are just drifting further and further away...as for an auxiliary outboard, behave, they couldn't even be ***** to service the main power unit or check the fuel tanks for contamination ...and God forbid it starts to sink, because life jackets aren't necessary are they? ....or...or....or one of a thousand entirely preventable problems. Easy that boating lark, innit?

LOL, Eubank Snr is a nice enough guy too. They used to live in Brighton and would often be down on the beach watching the anglers and wind/kite surfers, as I said, friendly and approachable, didn't know that Jnr was boxing though, I think they've moved away, not seen Snr or his 'car' for a couple of years...it's hard to miss a custom Hummer.

Cocky he was but was still a class act. Met him a few times and he's always been friendly, approachable and generous with his time without any of the cockiness you saw in the ring, you do need to bear in mind it's supposed to be entertainment.

Fairly sensible price for English tube, what's your bundle rates Daz? Do they get any better for say 10 bundles? Feel free to PM me if you'd rather.

I used a 25 litre plastic drum last season with a couple of metres of blue rope tied to the handle to make carrying/securing it easier. Easy to sit on, didn't really sink too badly into the gloop, floats extremely well and is lightweight. All good. Next season I'm going to try a 25 litre barrel, purely so I can put a few bits and bobs in it rather than stuffing my pockets full or taking a bag, I'm planning on using some shoulder straps to keep my hands free.

Agreed. Long shots can be pulled off consistently with lots of paper punching practice and some common sense (ie regard for the conditions). However there are many people who aren't capable and therefore assume that because they aren't, nobody else is. You can generally identify them fairly easily by the comments like " That's irresponsible shooting" etc. As far as I'm concerned, great shot mate!

I belive you need a few posts before you can add an avatar, stand ready to be corrected though. Top of the page where it says 'Signed in as RN Gunner' you click on that and a menu drops down, your profile etc is there.

If it's water that comes out, the pressure vessel is knackered. There is a diapahragm in the vessel that separates the gas (air) charge from the system water. The Schraeder valve on the vessel is on the charge side of the diaphragm, if you get water out of the valve then the diaphragm must be compromised. Generally an internal leak will give at least some visible indication but you would need to remove some covers to properly inspect the heat exchanger etc so not a job for the unqualified really, isolating the boiler will tell you if the leak is on the boiler or system though. If you can't see the charge pressure on the vessel, a good rule of thumb is water fill pressure plus 50%, so a 1 bar fill (normal) would have you charging the vessel to 1.5 Bar.
