Pretty stiff gusts in Sussex, no sign of the wet stuff at the moment. Could be an interesting night for my first venture onto the marsh!

If it's fired then it can't be recocked without the forend attached, I suppose it's a little additional security measure. As to why he removes the snaps I'm not sure on that one myself

That is a SERIOUS cleaning regime you have there Mr OCD! Thing is, to view the barrels they are mirror finished and with no sign of anything but polished metal, but a paper patch pulled through still comes out with a graphite grey smudging to it, it's not dirty to the point where you can't see the colour of the paper, it looks basically as though it's had pencil lead smeared on to it. I was just wondering if you CAN get them so clean as to leave no residue whatsoever?

Similar story for me. I trained hard for over a year and got to a decent size and well proportioned. Met a new girlfriend and spent 3 months concentrating my energies on her...and lost most of the bulk I'd worked so hard to put on. If you stop training or even cut it back, the bulk just falls off and to be honest I couldn't be ***** to spend all that time putting it back on...didn't seem to worry the GF either, we're still together 10 years later!

Fascinating creatures...slightly scary but fascinating at the same time! Great pic as usual.

Just pulled the greenery off, put then in with half a cup of sugar. IIRC it was slightly cloudy, didn't affect the taste or cause any other problems though.

I'm assuming that you are talking about infusing fruit into spirits...in which case Sloe berries into Gin and Blackcurrants in Vodka for me, have done Strawberries in Vodka in the past and that works OK as well. Otherwise...a slice of lime in a Vodka/Tonic does the biz!

No need to sell the pup. The older dog will put the pup in its place in due course or the pup will learn to avoid it. Either way the pecking order will be established and all should be ok.

Fair comment...if you plan to reuse them.

Similar issues along the E Sussex coast at the moment, but I reckon I might have to put something in the surf on the next tide after this blows through!

Jemmy it open. Seriously. If they are normal cabinet type 'safes' then you'll need nothing more than that, they are designed to stop casual access or slow someone down, they won't withstand a determined attack with tools.

Cleaning the shottie this morning and decided that I'd give it a real thorough barrel scrub until my kitchen towel patches came out as white as they went in. I've been unable to achieve this. My usual procedure is to squirt Napier gun cleaner into both barrels, go an make a cuppa and then come back and 'wire' brush them through, followed up by two or three patches, then a mop with a few drops of gun oil run through. I must have repeated this, albeit without the wire brush everytime, about a dozen times this morning but still the patches come out a little grey. Is it possible to get the barrels so clean as to get a patch pulled through clean?

...as I'm confused as anything. I have a Bettinsoli that is proofed for steel, 3" carts and has multichokes. I am going 'fowling on Monday for the first time and will be using steel. What chokes do you use and what's your thinking behind your choice of choke and cartridge? I think I'm right in saying that I need a more open choke for steel to get similar shot patterns but how is it worked out? What would be a good start point to choke at without making life too difficult for myself as I'll have enough to think about without worrying about chokes. Does the same thing apply to Bismuth as it does for steel? Thanks.

It is flavoursome and adds to many dishes a wonderful twist and aroma. However, if you don't like I feel you may choose to disagree.

That'll be the ebay copy version, the Easyhit is about £27-28. From what I hear the ebay version is OK...I still bought the Easyhit though, was going through a crisis of confidence and even if nothing else it confirmed my eye was lined up along the rib. -
So what's the story if the LPG supplier has gone out of business? If the company doesn't exist surely they can't own the bottle?

I use the Kenwood ones for bike-to-bike comms, work well up to 1/2 a mile and then variably over more distance (terrain dependant).

The EasyHits work well for some, but as said, get a good coach to check things over first. -
It's a single trigger over and under mate, if you view the add on Gun Watch (click the link at the bottom of the post) there's a few more details.

If it's a dive bottle it's probably out of test mate. The appropriate British Standards for Inspection and Testing of diving cylinders are BS EN 1968.2002 (steel) and BS EN 1802.2002 (aluminium). These lay down the techniques to be used, the measurements to be made and the frequency of tests. 1) Cylinders should undergo a visual inspection every 2.5 years 2) Cylinders should have a hydraulic test every 5 years. You should be able to find a four digit stamp on the bottle, usually highlighted, it will be the week and year of test, so, 33/10 is the 33rd week of 2010.

Agreed, you can buy them at a dealer second hand at closer to 600 than 800. -

Have seen and inwardly digested, I'm not in a position to buy at the moment it's more than I could stretch to, but if you still have it when I am....

As the man says, if it's not producing more than 12ft/lb, it's irrelevant as to what it could make. If it's set legally, it's a legal air rifle.
