Was on the marsh last week and there were something in the region of 200 Brents out on the mud in front of me! All ******** off together, hell of a racket! Obviously that's just one flock.

I use Optimates on my motorbikes, one of them gets stored all winter and it's battery is maintained automatically. Never let me down yet, I'd thoroughly recommend them.

Wildfowling in Chichester Harbour, West Sussex.

Good news indeedy! Not been out since Sunday, will be over the next couple of days! -
Come down to the South coast mate, ******* thousands of the blighters here!!!

Evening Mr M-P. I would tell you...but then he might not want to take me out anymore!!! I'll have a chat and see what he's using etc. Can't comment on his shooting as yet! I'm happy enough with the thought of steel, but think I will get some Gamebore 36's though, I've got to admit to taking on a couple that I was convinced were going down only for them to fly on unscathed, I don't think range is the issue as I'm very conscious of not pushing it and at thirty yards I'd expect to be hitting them! I don't know anything about the age of the carts I'm using, I got them off another club member. I guess that if I switch to a known cart and still miss, I can only blame myself then!

He doesn't want to come and have a look around Brighton and the South East does he?

In an ideal Britain I'd love to agree with you, unfortunately, in our Britain I have a sinking feeling whenever someone talks of justice in a British Court of Law.

Thanks for that sensible and informative response, I'll certainly look at shot size and cartridge choice, I'm looking to buy in the next week anyway so have the opportunity to try something different.

Wind your neck back in buddy. IF you'd read the post fully you'll see that it's not my figures or quote, hence why I questioned it and indeed stated it seemed a bit high. I'll let you know in due course if and when my personal figures approach this mark and THEN you can start thinking about throwing your orders about.

Ok, well I'm defining pricked as down and retrieved but not stone dead when retrieved ie, in need of dispatch. I would LOVE to try a few loads on a pattern plate, but I don't have land to set my own plate up on, and my two local shoots (Northall and Southdown) don't have pattern plates! I have no idea what shoots well or badly through my gun! :o

What doe we think of the Cabelas waterfowling kit? Been having a look and it seems very good value for money?
-
Can only speak for mine, about 35yards I believe. I have to say that he regularly refuses the shot on a distance basis, too high or far, so I'd suspect that he's not going for too many long shots.

I'm in my probationary year with my wildfowling club which (sensibly) means that I must be accompanied on all visits to the marsh this year. Anyway, I shot my first duck last week (Yay!!) but it was pricked and needed dispatching, not a problem per se. However, my mentor said words to the effect of " You need to get used to that mate, probably 7 out of 10 birds aren't cleanly down, ducks are as tough as *******!". Is it just me or does that seem too high? Not that I know any better mind, but is it a case of maybe the ammo choice needs reviewing, or are ducks really as tough as? Mine had at least two shot pellets in the body, maybe more elsewhere? I'm using GYTTORP 32g, 4 shot HP steel carts, is that adequate?

But nothing. He was caught on camera, there is no doubt, he got some of what he deserves, hopefully the courts will dish out some more of what he deserves!

Ok, not completely ****, but for loos they're not so good IMO. Trouble is they're a bit too rigid to get a half decent seal in the bowl, in my experience (as a 20 year working plumber) there's too much sloshing and not enough pumping. Each to their own of course.
-
As said, check the drain, if that's clear then get yourself a large plunger. None of this 'modern' super plunger ****, a good old fashioned rubber cup plunger about 5" in diameter. Flush the loo, then vigorously plunge the toilet bowl with a repeated action (down into the bowl and pull back), I find that normally 7 or 8 plunges is plenty. If it's just wipes, paper and poo it will be gone. I haven't had to do more than this for a WC block in years. If it's your drains and you don't fancy/have access to rods etc, Dynorod do fixed charge clearances.

Why do i feel bad for crow shooting ?
-Mongrel- replied to Royboy's topic in General Shooting Matters
Definite +1. I can think of no good reason to leave a Mixy'd rabbit if you have the opportunity to cull it, as said it's 99% certain it's going to die and a nasty death at that. I'd be quite happy that you'd done it a favour. -
I thought you'd put forgotten to put a decimal point in the price until I Googled them!!! I'm sure they're worth it though.
-
My **** he could! I don't care how long BG was in the SAS, he was in, and that makes him a tough as **** trained killer! Mears would get marmalised!!! He may well be the more genuine of the two, but nice doesn't beat hard!

Pub/restaurant loo door handles is the one for me, I'm generally not overly fussy nor too worried about dirt, but several hundred other blokes **** and God knows what else smeared around a door handle, nah, you're ok! I always find something to place between my finger flesh and the handle rather than touching it!

What about Hartlepool Wildfowlers ? So secret that Google threw them up.

When I joined my 'fowling club I automatically got BASC club membership, however as I was already a full member I had the option of asking them to refund what was left on the full membership. I decided not to on the grounds that the money was already gone, I wasn't missing it and the likes of the BASC need all the help they can get. That's my 'donation' for this year, but otherwise I'd probably have donated something. Most organisations fund raise in this way, what's the problem, you have a choice.

Agreed, I'm looking at the moment for a dog/shooting vehicle, really fancied a swb Shogun/Pajero, then looked in the back of one! Not enough room for a Labrador, let alone a cage and assorted shooting gear, I need a four/five seater so I'm now back looking at lwb 2.8td's.

My first car was a Allaggro 1300, mustard yellow, square steering wheel, broken rear quarter light, but 100 quid with a years MOT! It had moved a skip with its near side wing and also hit a speed bump so hard that the sump cracked...before I didn't top the oil (that ran out almost as fast as it went in) in time and seized it, for all I know it's still parked in a Deptford side street! My favorite though was a Volvo V70-R, dark blue V-70 on magnesnium alloys with a subtle window tint, uprated suspension and brakes, awd...oh, and chipped along with an uprated turbo!!! Absolute stealth wagon! Never had the boy racer crew trying it on, and was never pulled by the law, but when you wanted to hustle it would smoke anything! Second gear and plant it and it just bit, chucked you back into the seat and then fu**ed off!!! It outdragged Sierra Cosworths, Porsches, and my favourite was the Maserati Spyder (although I think I caught him off guard ) God, I wish I still had that car!

Behave! If somebody gave you four grand that you had to spend, you couldn't 'waste' it on something? Nothing? Another gun or three, new kitchen? A better car? Easily spent IMO.
