  1. Am I jealous that you're going to Langkawi? Hell yes!!! Loved it there, fabulous mate.
  2. Sad story for sure but the farmers well within his rights. I would have to question the sense in letting the son walk them when he obviously didn't have full control over them as well. I wouldn't let my youngest take either of mine out unsupervised to anywhere that they could be let off.
  3. So good if they are right as it will affect my work, but then it will mean less time to go shooting.
  4. Any gun will wear at some point, but, it does seem to be more a problem with Hatsan's quality control. If you get a good one then I'm sure it will last ok, but if you don't then it's problems sooner rather than later I gather. Anyway, it's immaterial to me, if there's a question mark over the reliability then it's a no goer as far as I'm concerned.
  5. Interesting, only person I know who took one off road said it was adequate...hardly a glowing recommendation, and the 2wd version can't be much cop off road surely? Anyway, I'm pleased all the toys and gadgets kept you happy. I should add that it was a 2 door that I drove, the other thing that struck me was how little room in the back there was.
  6. If he ain't dead yet it's just a matter of time. Bloke can ride a bit for sure, but as said - time and place. Bloke's a proper bellend IMO.
  7. Not getting a Hatsan mate, I know some people love them and have had no trouble with theirs, but I know of plenty other people who wouldn't touch them with a 15' barge pole. Sorry.
  8. Agreed on most points there having driven one. It doesn't feel like a Range Rover, it doesn't drive like a Range Rover, it drives like a Toyota CRV or similar, nice enough but not distinctive. As for the looks, not for me thanks. If I wanted a chavved up RR I'd get an ex footballers Sport!
  9. Apparently it's never too late to train, it just gets harder as they get older. I've just had my 4 year old Choccie Lab 'assessed' and it seems if it's in the blood then it's possible! My lab seems to want to retrieve anyway so we appear to be halfway there anyway.
  10. I've just got some Sonic Defenders Plus, they are very comfortable, unobtrusive, allow you to hear conversation etc and also seem to deaden the gunshots. For the money I'm well impressed so far! Ebay link
  11. ...or three I am looking at buying a semi-auto for wildfowling and after some fowlers advice and a bit of reading I'm down to the following, I appreciate that they'll need to fit but assuming good fit on the guns then what would be your choice and why please. Benelli Super Black Eagle Semi-Auto, second hand, £699 (Barrel: 28", Stock: 14 3/8", Choke: Multi, Chamber: 3"1/2) Winchester Super X3 Black Shadow (3.5in - Game - Multi Choke) Semi-Auto new Shotgun. £710 Beretta Urika 1, Semi-Auto second hand, £699 (Barrel: 28", Stock: 14 1/2", Choke: Multi, Chamber: 3")
  12. Jeezuz! Dunno about ducking but I certainly flinched!!!
  13. Dunno what may have given you that idea mate? Was it the name on the side window perchance or just an astonishing feat of memory?
  14. With all due respect, that's not correct. It WILL be an issue if the guns sweet spot is between 190 bar and 120 bar, and the gun is filled to 220 bar. Until enough shots have been fired to bring the pressure down, it will NOT be as accurate as it would be in it's sweet range.
  15. The power curve or what's probably better known as the sweet spot could make a difference. Most PCP's have a working pressure range when they shoot consistently, above or below this they do tend to be a little less accurate, more so when running low rather than high. The S410 seems to be like the S400 in that between about 190bar down to 120bar it should be consistent.
  16. You can come down as hard as you like on the Scrappies, all you'll do is move the problem elsewhere. Thieving scum are thieving scum, they're currently nicking metal because it's valuable enough to take the risk, close that door and they'll just nick the next easiest thing. Come down hard enough on the thieves and they'll be less likely to thieve.
  17. 3.16 am mate, you were tired weren't you!
  18. No they weren't. By his own admission they were outside a poult pen 'worrying' poults. They MAY have killed the sheep previously but they weren't when they were shot. If the dogs were mine we'd be heading for court, unless the facts have been slightly mis-stated. I'd have taken a hard copy of this thread by now if they were mine though!
  19. I too love The Rolling Stones although not perhaps to mask the screams! Bowie's ok but it needs to be the older stuff...I have really, really tried to get into The Beatles but can't get beyond a couple of tracks to be honest, I have to say that I think McCartney is an utter t-wat and Lennon wasn't any better, so that may cloud my judgement somewhat!
  20. Le me know how it goes with the sale, I may be interested in it although I'd need more info on it such as what chambers/chokes etc.
  21. If it's professionally repaired and been checked then why not? Should be somewhere between 15% and 25% below normal market value though.
  22. Or...it's a couple of days with the family and another 5 or so hunting or fishing! I quite often arrange a Boxing Day trip of some description and get it down to one day!
  23. I don't think you'll be laughing for too many years mi amigo. As a gas engineer, I'd have suggested you go into electrics. Gas is running out pretty quickly, similar with oil. If as suspected most household heating becomes a combination of renewable energies (solar panels, ground/air source heat pumps etc) and electricity (probably from nuclear stations)then the 'tricky' bit of it will making it all work together, and that's an electricians job. The fitting of pumps etc is a plumbers job rather than a gas engineers and as such less well paid. Once the gas runs out the gas engineer will soon become obsolete whereas the electrician will be needed even more so than now.
  24. and maybe a bit more  !!! I dunno if it was supposed to be 'Peasant!' or whether it's a local insult, but either way it made me spit coffee!
