Cranfield - perish the thought. We will make a cynic out of you yet.
-
There is talk of them appearing on the Oprah Winfrey show. Why  They are appalling parents who still find it extremely hard to accept any blame. It's the Press, the Police, the Public, but never them. I will throw up if I read about Kate McCann clutching Cuddle Cat again. At the end of the day, a kid is missing - that is the tragedy.

Cranfield - a reasoned letter to the Mail. I have just written to them asking how the dead lamb came to be put down by a vet. I await a response. You are correct in spotting the different tenor of her response to the original article. The article makes flippant mention of the lamb. With time to consider her position, she is now trying to come accross as caring and responsible. All a bit late.
-
Just posted this on the web site in response - "I am truly appalled about the way she casually dismisses the killing of a lamb. This comment is plainly stupid -" the lamb is probably due to be slaughtered in the not-too-distant future anyway". It demonstrates an arrogance and ignorance that beggars belief. I trust she reported the matter to the Police before rushing to the dog show".

Pegleg 31 - over a number of years I have seen some really stupid statements and generalisations, but I think you have just won first prize. First you slag off a courageous breed of dog - they used them in the wars. Then you proceed to slag off their owners. Perhaps a brain might help your thought process.

Whatever dog you might chose, you are asking a lot. If you put a dog in an enclosed space which it comes to regard as its own, it will defend that area. It will not discriminate bewteen good or bad unless it knows the people. I have had four German Shepherds - we are now on our second and third Akitas. A whole lot bigger than GSDs and Rottweillers. All 7 dogs defended my property unconditionally. Depends what you really want - a dog to defend an enclosed space or a dog patrol to walk around the area.

I'm with Al4X - if you can feel the judder through the pedal, it will be the discs. Put your finger on the idsc and see how much of a lip has been created. If your fingernail hits the lip and stops - your discs are on the way out. Suspension parts usually knock rather than judder. Check wheel bearings by grabbing wheel hard and see if there is any play or knock when you apply pressure on and then off. In effect - rocking the wheel.

Get the flush fitting - cheapest. Ported chokes are a gimmick. Extended - longer choke (in theory a longer taper), but dearer than flush.

Price?

Used to have a CR500, but no longer riding. My lads rode AMCA until 2 years ago. Eldest was in Open Experts and broke his back. Youngest was Open Senior - broke his leg - 13 weeks in plaster and shoulder - plated, but plate popped out of the bone and started poking through his skin. Plate now removed and both lads retired. Love the sport, but most of their accidents over the years were due to people who couldn't set up a circuit. Silly angles on the face of jumps and extra jumps which contravened AMCA rules.

Go to a steep hill. Ascend in too high a gear. If clutch is on its way out - engine speed will rise, but car will slow down, not stall. You will literally hear the clutch slipping.

Any chance of the shop's name in Lincoln?
-
Which shop in Lincoln is selling them so cheap? I might have a run down and buy a few thousand.

I had one until recently. They are a few years old now, but top flight guns. Check for cracks in the forend and the red lines -they tend to get damaged and spoil the look. Easy enough to redo them. Better handling than the Browning XT that replaced it in my cabinet. Depends how much money we are talking. If it is £600 plus, you can get a newer Miroku MK 38 - very similar, but probably in better nick. £500 - I would buy one.

Peter - last night I felt quite angry about the protesters. Now I feel sorry for them. The Shooting School has been around for over 30 years that I know about. Neighbours from that time would have grown up with it. It is more likely to be newcomers. The ground was there before them. Part of country life disappearing down the drain to satisfy a few yuppies. I hope they hang their heads in shame, for piling more misery on the Hinchcliffe's so soon after John's untimely death. I am proud to have known the Hinchcliffes and thankful I do not know their objecting neighbours.
-
Peter - I had not heard about the closure of Holmfirth. When and why did this happen? I have known the Hinchcliffes for 30 years and a more decent family you wouldn't find. It was a real blow losing John so relatively recently, but closing the Shooting School - adding insult to injury.

I listened to John McEnroe give an honest assessment of Murray. Poor tactics and a useless serve. Not very quick and no placement. Murray is destined to be another Tiger Tim - not good enough.
-
Murray's shot choice, at times, was truly awful. He tried "drop shots" which were inappropriate and poorly executed. The press built him up and he did little to encourage us to be more realistic. He got hammered by a different class player, who looked as if he wanted to win. Murray - really want to win - jury is out on that one. He played like he expected to lose and lived down to his lack of ambition.

The benefits of the Internet.

Tiercel - whilst Ebay won't let you leave negative feedback for a buyer, I left this for an idiot who said he had sent a cheque, then said he would send another, but sent nothing. "Absolute idiot. Unable to leave negative feedback under new rules. Timewaster". In response, the idiot left this:- "top dog ebayer an real deal".

For that money - Beretta, Remington or Winchester X2. There is a nice three barrel Remington on this Forum.

I agree. I can't see the point in waiting.

is it possible to have my Miroku mk70 backbored
Gordon R replied to indie's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
If it was backbored, would this not remove the chrome lining? I would just swap the gun, if that is what you want. I have owned both and could not tell the difference. -

I think the grading system is a bit hit and miss on wood. My Browning had grade 3 woodwork. I have just changed the stock for a 525 grade 1, which has better woodwork. I have a standard Beretta 682 with better woodwork than grade 3 Miroku / Browning. Not seen much better woodwork on a Beretta. Obviously engraving is definitely better on higher grades.
