  1. My boss wanted the painters he hired to work over xmas but me and my work mate didn't want to come unlock and turn alarms off as we had to book holiday for this break so the boss let the painters unlock themselves even though they have never done it and what a surprise the first day the phone rang at 7.30am from the alarms going off so as im not paid to be on call the phone was turned off and will be put on when I return to work, I love any time I get off as normally I am working lots of overtime so leave it where it is.
  2. I think a lot depends on the older generation you are brought up around, my dad is a fitter welder and taught me how to fix a lot but when I went to work most of the blokes my dads age and older wouldn't show any of us how to do anything they did as they thought stupidly that it made them irreplaceable, came back to bite them when I started maintenance engineering as when their machine broke and they asked how to fix it I wouldn't show them but the guys that helped me learn I showed what I knew.
  3. Normally me and my wife go to our friends house as they have young kids so can't go out as everyones busy, we always have a nice time but this year we are having a evening in just the two of us at home, a few drinks and a good laugh with my wife is going to be great, we always have a great time in together so a takeaway and a few films it is for us.
  4. I got lots of nice presents, way more than I deserve but I am very grateful, got a beautiful trevor ablett pocket knife with purple heart scales from the wife and I love it along with a tweed/leather baseball cap, fishing log book, fishing zippo lighter and loads of other nice things, money and socks and pants from my parents and lots of nice bits from my sister such as new alarm clock and a belt, pistol crossbow from brother inlaw and finally some clothes and a really nice jacket from my inlaws, and aunt and nan. I love all of it and I am so grateful but just seeing everyone else happy and having a nice day makes me so happy and content. Hope all of you are enjoying the Christmas break

    Quiz 4

Kefalonia, thanks and merry Christmas to all.
  6. The guy I used to work with was always banging on about creme eggs and wagon wheels etc being bigger when he was a lad, I always used to say I think it was just he had small hands as a lad now he's man his hands are bigger so it all looks smaller The main thing shrinking in the supermarket for me is the amount of food I seem to get for the same money I always spend, I think I need to start going somewhere else.
  7. I remember when I was quite young I had asked Santa for a teenage mutant turtle play tent and I was woken to my dad who had built it downstairs tripping and swearing bringing it up the stairs to leave in my room for morning, I realised Santa wasn't real that night but I was so happy with my tent I pretended to be asleep and then got in my tent and slept in it all night.
  8. I nearly always bring knives back from holiday, obviously ones that are legal in our country, as long as its in checked luggage not hand luggage and well packaged so handlers wont get harmed its fine, last holiday i bought a very large nazi replica bayonet for my dad who collects them and a number of folding knives for edc and it was fine, you are not breaking any laws as long as they are legal here and where you are traveling to then there's no problem. I have never declared them as you are not breaking any laws if they are legal so i dont see why you should need to.
  9. That's great I love that one.
  10. What about joining up with pxfarms and shooting on their land? Never used them myself as i was lucky to find a couple of perms after a lot of calling in at random farms and being turned down, so i cant say if its any good or not but maybe its worth a look if you are desperate to get out shooting although if i remember right its not cheap.
  11. Mine was very friendly, just asked me what I wanted it for, what my wife thinks about me having guns and then explained how to fill out the ticket when buying or selling and notifying them of transfers, there was a few other questions i can't really remember but nothing taxing, think it took about 45 mins to a hour, as others have said i think its just to get a measure of what type of person you are really more than anything else, she then had a look at my cabinet and wrote down how many it holds, mine was a 3 gun but she said it could hold 5 depending how careful i wanted to be with putting them in. Then i was told she would recommend i get the cert and it would probably take up to 2 weeks, then she said see you in 5 years and left, I sent in a email to the dept thanking her for her help and how i was very impressed with the service and how it couldn't have gone better.

    Taxidermy

That's really fantastic work, I really love the fox drinking water especially.
  13. Very sorry to hear that mate, your mum sounds like she was a amazing woman.
  14. I did look on Paul's angling supplies website but couldn't find the exact rod I wanted, will use fishing hut again though, I have two local shops, one is very good for service and buying smaller things but the shop is so cluttered the rods are hidden by everything else, The other shop is ran by a know all when he really doesn't so I won't give him my money. Used to be a good fishing shop in st Ives cambs I used regularly with my dad when I was younger and when I worked in st ives but it closed down a few years ago now.
  15. Not shooting related but i know some of you are fishermen as well so i just wanted to let others know about the very good service I received at fishinghut.net, I ordered a new Shakespeare rod and reel yesterday lunchtime online and as the reel came in three sizes I wasn't sure I'd ordered the correct one so called them up and explained what I wanted it for, the man couldn't have been more helpful opening the reels up and giving me sizes weight etc, he was very happy to help me and he also advised either the one I ordered or possibly the next one up, I went with the next one up which although only a pound difference was changed at no charge and I received the package just before lunch today extremely well packaged. I can thoroughly recommend using them for any fishing gear and I will be again from now on.
  16. I ended up getting a landing net for a bargain £7 and a unhooking mat with weighing sling and scales for £10, the rod bags looked like good quality as well.
  17. Thank you for the heads up, now I know that I will be taking my dad next week so we can have a look and maybe pick up a few bits I thought with the season already started I had missed aldi's fishing gear this year.

    BT Scam

My wife had one to and said to me its impossible as she had already seen payment has gone through, I googled it and see others saying it was a fake.
  21. I may be interested in the buck knife if you decide to split and post depending on price, cheers.
  22. Everyone likes something different mate, I personally have had a escort for quite a while now bought used and mines never had a problem although I can't comment on others, I do check my chokes regularly to make sure they are tight just in case but they aren't usually loose, im on mobile so can't see where you're from if you're close enough to Kettering try messaging wabbitbosher as he does cheap guns with a great service so he may have a few different ones in your budget to choose from.
  23. Be careful as some insurance companies don't include this on fully comp policies any more, I've moved about 3 or 4 companies over the years always had fully comp and never been covered for other cars with owners permission, a lot of people think its automatically included with fully comp but I think those days are gone.
  24. Nice collection there, I also fancy getting a mod knife soon even though reviews aren't very good I still fancy one, I also will buy a glock knife at some point to again just because I want one no practical reason.
  25. I've had a Dyson dc27 upright for a few years now and its been great to us.
