  1. Csj hi lost!very good nutritionally, animal proteins rather than proteins from grains etc. It's affordable and well balanced
  2. Very nice shell. Bit more refined than the Fiocchi at a similar price point which is another good shell, and a million times better kills than I was getting with hull high pheasant
  3. My old jack Russel would point on hen birds, never worked out why only on hens but she could nose out a bird the springers missed. Wasn't soft mouthed on picking birds and anything she did pick up she felt was hers and certainly not mine. In thick cover I think terriers are excellent for beating.
  4. Forget the dummy for now concentrate on the recall she's doing fine in bringing it back in doors so take that as a win at this stage. You can worry about the outside stuff in a few months! If you don't do it out side you don't give her chance to learn it wrong, she's very very young to try and correct at the moment.
  5. Well the 686E will be sporter where as the silver pig could be game or sporter. Not much in it to be fair. For me you might get better value on the older gun presumably it's cheaper. I do agree older berettas are better, 6 years isn't that old though.
  6. Where are you located?
  7. You should approach different aid companies with the design. The 'flat pack' design will really appeal compared to what they often send. The savings in shipping costs would probably be a good business driver
  8. Have you tried laying a trail or scent line for her to hunt? Drag a dead bunny in a pattern in the grass and into some cover use a rope to mask any foot scent. Then cast her hunting, if she's stimulated with something new she should take the line and find the retrieve. Agree with the other comments- sounds like she's bored, possibly with the dummies your using, possibly with the scent or the ground you're on.
  9. Skeet usually. I believe it's normally about 5 though constriction
  10. Take a look at the limits too. Some insurers will only cover an illness up to s certain value per year or for the life of the pet. Others cover an illness only once. John lewis believe it or not are pretty good, £20 a month for a high level of cover with mine.
  11. I lost my girl a year or so ago to something similar sounding. Could I be as rude to ask if she's been bred out of? Reason being mine was not spayed nor has she bred and wondered if that makes them more susceptible. Sad news. But she didn't suffer long
  12. Try a game gun if your sporter is too heavy. Generally sporters are similar in weight only getting heavier than what you have. Is it a balance problem? Perhaps adding weight at either end will improve the balance giving the feel it's lighter. I know it sounds ridiculous but I guarantee a 8.5lbs gun that's well balanced will feel lighter than a 8lbs muzzle heavy gun.
  13. Taken from a trainer's website: CHOICE BETWEEN DOGS OR BITCHES In some ways, choosing between male and female dogs is a matter of personal preference. However, there are some characteristics which are common in bitches and other characteristics which are common in male dogs. It is important to evaluate these characteristics and determine which sex would fit in best with your home situation. Additionally, choosing between male and female dogs is important if you already have another bitch or male dog and are choosing an additional dog. This article will list a few characteristics of bitches, a few characteristics of male dogs, and how to choose between male and female dogs when considering a second or third dog. The following characteristics often apply to bitches: Independent - Bitches tend to want to be in control of the entire situation. They may come to their owner when they are seeking affection but will often move away when they have had enough. Stubborn - In many packs, a bitch is typically the Alpha. Female dogs crave more control of situations and are quick to respond to perceived challenges with fierceness. Territorial - Female dogs mark in the same way male dogs do. A spayed female may continue to mark for her entire lifetime regardless of when she is spayed while most males will cease marking behaviors shortly after they are neutered and the testosterone levels subside. Reserved - Bitches are generally less affectionate and friendly than male dogs. This characteristic is noticeable in puppies and becomes more pronounced with age. Changes in Mood or Behavior - It is also important to note that if you do not spay your bitch, she will come into heat at approximately one year of age and approximately every six months thereafter. During this time, there will be some bleeding as well as a change in mood or behavior. The following characteristics often apply to male dogs: Affectionate - Male dogs are typically more affectionate than bitches. They tend to crave attention from their owners more than bitches and as a result, display more affectionate behaviors. Exuberant - A male dog is also more likely to be fun-loving and outgoing throughout his lifetime than a bitch. While a bitch tends to become more reserved as she ages, a male dog maintains a more puppy-like exuberance throughout his lifetime. Food-Motivated - Males are often very motivated by food. This food motivation can make training extremely easy as treats can be used to lure and reward a dog to display desired behaviors. Attentive - While bitches tend to be more independent, males tend to be more focused on their human companions. They want to always be close to the human and are very eager to please. Aggressive Behaviors - It is also important to note that intact males may display aggressive behaviors toward other males or exhibit marking behaviors. Additionally, intact males should be kept away from females in heat unless a breeding is planned.
  14. 600 for a litter of that breeding is at the lower end of prices. I dare say with the right contacts bitch pups could make upto 800 on this litter. You tend to get what you pay for in life.
  15. Missed the car bit. Absolutely agree. At least sat up on the lead the dog has the incentive to behave and is secondarily taught patience. In a car locked away the dog is learning nothing.
  16. I'd disagree and say in certain instances this works well. Particularly if your dog is less confident. Being in the company of a confident dog can encourage reassurance in the lesson/ what your asking of them
  17. Depends on age regarding chambers etc. The mk70 up until a few years ago was invector bored, the mk38 is invector plus. The difference in performance is probably marginal however the wider bores of the invector plus are said to give better balance. The mk70s I've had were muzzle heavy, there was a noticeable fluting where the multi chokes sat. That being said the latest mk70's in sporter flavour are also invector plus choked so there really is little difference between them. In short I'd get the mk38 as I suspect for no reason other than the model name it would hold slightly better value. Better choice of second hand models. Don't see too many 32" mk70's. If any actually?
  18. How old is the bitch? Any recent seasons? I've heard of some bitches during a phantom messing in doors because they were reluctant to leave their bed and when outside did nothing but try to come back in to the "nest".
  19. Ask dad to look into getting you a 28bore. I guarantee he'll want one too! Don't rush for a 12 bore, I shot exclusively with 20guages into my early 20's and even now wouldn't feel a great disadvantage. You'll hit more with the smaller gun as your muscles will have better control over its weight. Good luck and happy shooting
  20. Could try laying on your back once you've thrown it. Catches the dog off guard first few times and they come back to investigate what's happened to you! One other thing. 10 yards is plenty far enough at this age the closer you make the retrieves the less chance the dog has to only come half way back, at this age it's all about not letting the dog fail.
  21. I just asked her....apparently "it's cheaper than a guard dog" wasn't my best opening argument
  22. Know nothing about CF calibres, that helps my understanding at least. Top reply. Thanks
