  1. well done fella excellent bag of birds at this time of year
  2. hello pete, without getting to scientific with enzymes an ph i was told by butchers and gamedealers, that if the the fresh birds are not cooled to 40 degrees F or less the meat is said to get spoiled, which can effect meat flavour and texture when thawed. quite important when supplying resturants etc... sorry if this is a bit vaigue, but i often get asked when supplying pigeons if they were cooled before freezing perhaps someone more knowlegable than me can provide more info. take care bud, Aga man.
  3. that's cool mate, very nice
  4. i sell rabbits and pigeons to my butcher, but just as they come apart from the rabbits being gutted. i was always told this is fine, but if you take them plucked or skinned you are supplying a processed meat product for which you will need a licence. speak to your butcher, he/she will put you right
  5. i do believe your right there pal. we have a few scattered round east yorkshire. briiliant stores sell everything from a ball of wool to a box of slug pellets
  6. my old discovery had a 300tdi engine and it had a rubber timing belt the newer td5 engines are chain. took mine to a garage to get changed, i do my own repairs but noway on the cambelt cost about £160 from memory
  7. agreed 9mm garden gun [shotgun}
  8. i agree with the above post, your rfd will sort it for you. the hexagonal barrel does sound like an old rook rifle though which maybe section 1. google rook rifle and have a look.
  9. hi mick, thats brought back some memories, used a lot of these as you say about ten years ago. excellent shell, even in no 8 were very good for decoying. sadly according to my rfd they don't make em any more but an email to gamebore might conrirm that. atb aga man.

    What Action

i would agree. i would imagine if it was humberside police his ticket would have already been taken away. i don't see how he can be deemed to hold a shotgun without danger to the public safety or to the peace.
  13. thanks for the reply's chaps. glad you enjoyed your pheasant bluderbuss, such luxury eating roast pheasant in late may i do let my pigeons cool off before freezing them tj but it is a very good point and something i didn't realise before someone told me. can't say i have ever noticed any freezer burn
  14. hello guys, just about to empty the chest freezer this week for a trip to the gamedealers. got me thinking about how long people deep freeze there pigeons for before taking them in. im taking a couple of hundred that have been there since early march. the dealer nevers seems to ask how long they have frozen for so i was just wondering
  15. good shooting fella' s
  16. well done Hedd, nice bag there mate. especially well done on getting the maggies with the shottie, not an east thing to do! didn't know you was a left hooker
  17. i would of thought pigeons would have been on there already. i would imagine ther will be corvids all over it when it is cut, but never grown that up my way. the pigeons have been on clover for a while here
  18. yes mate, usually july but more likely august this year with the rubbish weather if the field has electric cables or trees nearby watch for pigeons on these,[thats a sign there on it}. if the wind flatterns any area thats even better corvids will be on it aswell. having said that if he is dairy he might silage it before it ripens. either way its worth keepin an eye on for sure
  19. saw this report on countryfile on sunday night. i felt deeply saddened by it aswell. i hope that the poor chap gets well compensated for his loss, its the least the government can do. i hope the trial culls will go ahead later in the year.
  20. very smart tony. bet theres a few quids worth sat there  wouldn't like to be a fox on your patch mate
  21. there is a stock for a webley fx 2000 on ebay at the moment. i would be very suprised if that don't fit! failing that try www.gunspares.co.uk and speak to them. they might be able to point you in the right direction.
  22. i agree, its all we have and even then its got charlie jacoby as the presenter
  23. well done fella. i agree with motty that the rape probably didnt take that well, but the pigeons won't help so keep at em and keep the farmer happy. if you are going saturday use the dead birds you shot today as deeks and take plenty of shells nothing wrong with shell decoys but you can't beat the real thing! let us know how you get on.
