  1. I'm not in Derbyshire mate but experience with south yorks and listening to mates from other areas I wouldn't get too excited just yet I certainly don't think you'll be treating yourself for Christmas , mind you I've been wrong before .
  2. I don't find it suprising I'd actually be more surprised if someone said they had found birds in the said condition. Being the secretary of a fowling club I get to meet and speak with an awful lot of people who would likely find these birds going about their business, but to date and years of asking I'm yet to hear of anyone doing so. Maybe our collective eye sights aren't as good as the bods who supply the figures of the poisoned birds for the rspb and government bodies and any other bunch of do gooders that wish to jump on the wagon.
  3. Yeah she could smear my windscreen anytime, but I suppose that'd make me a sexist bigot and extend my stay on the naughty step .
  4. You're right the alleged problem won't disappear without some multi million £ clean up operation, but in 42 years of fowling inland and tidal I've never found or had a dog find one of these thousands of wildfowl that have died from lead poisoning. Just out of curiosity has any other member on here found any ?.
  5. The lead is supposedly absorbed injested by birds picking up the spent shot as grit, so I wouldn't think many fowl would be using weights of the size you're describing as grit. I presume you're talking beachcasting type weights.
  6. Personally I'd put the word out amongst friends and charge them nowt, but I'd expect them to return the compliment. That's how you get some good free shooting built up without overshooting your own land. Best advice on here + 1 from me you'll be surprised how quickly the invites are returned with most folks anyway.
  7. Are you a politician by any chance Just been brain washed with the carp and is now practicing talking cobblers .
  8. Tell him he needs to invest it in the bank of mum and dad as no doubt he'll be making plenty of withdrawals in the years to come .
  9. Or the local chippie gets burnt down .
  10. That's ok then with a salary like that he'd be able to pay his fellow countrymen to poach his carp for him .
  11. Cracking pictures as well gives you a nice feel for the place, that pup looks a little peed off mind .
  12. LJ's already you'll be suffering from the betty swollocks syndrome far too early yet .
  13. The missus is just in her final year at Hull uni so I suppose we can look forward to a visit ourselves .
  14. Hmmmmm is that the voice of experience I hear .
  15. They'll abouts shift the goalposts now so the big chaps in suits can go and collect it .
  16. I think carp is still quite important in England but to the specimen anglers not the hungry diners .

  18. They're barred from most of the fisheries round these parts and are now busy emptying the canals of pike and anything bigger than a stickleback. It's dead easy to see where they're fishing as the empty tinnies and all the rest of their ***** will be chucked about
  19. With the amount of fish and wildlife taken from this area in a short time I can't see their being anything edible left in eastern Europe.
