I have seen your work it looks amazing it's hard to understand the situation re pricing. I don't know your rates but here it's almost impossible to get work done. In Plymouth I am paying £70 an hour for engineers, carpenters, or electricians or riggers and they are mostly booked six months ahead.

I am Chew Vally. I went out at 1030 it was cloudy, went to top of the mendips it was the same gave up at around 1200.

I was out late trying to find some clear sky to watch the meteorites. No luck despite looking for a couple of hours. Imagine my frustration when I woke to a hard frost showing the cloud cover had cleared at some point in the evening.

This seems to me a fair view of reality. I would not want to do their job for any amount of pay. Given the background it's incredible the civilised approach of police officers to members of the general public in ordinary dealings. It's a long way ahead of the police forces that I have had the misfortune to deal with around the world.

Now that is a great idea. Here for the recycling you have to book in. My Hilux needed a ticket which was limited to certain days and restricted visits. It's not the simplest for occasional use but easy enough once you know the system.

Incredible and an unusual subject. Do you paint anything or do you have a preference?

An INTERESTING Viewpoint from the Car Sales Industry
oowee replied to TIGHTCHOKE's topic in Motoring Section
Manufacturers certainly BMW, Nissan, Renault and Toyota have long had hydrogen In their plans for cars. When I worked on the first strategy for ev's in 2005 this transition was in the plan. Ev's like the first ice vehicles are getting cheaper. Range is increasing. Hydrogen is just another transition, the same role out challenges that currently face ev's will apply. Fossil fuels are finite. At some point we have to transition. -

Thankyou Gordon. So rather than walking away as suggested it's more of a scaling back / realignment of targets. -
An INTERESTING Viewpoint from the Car Sales Industry

I did and found nothing other than BMW predicting selling a record 1/2 a million ev's. If you have something tangible share it. -
Very nice.

Walks like a duck etc. Interesting position for the UK with Tariffs on the Horizon and the UK looking very isolated. Trade deal and take the Trump golden shower or throw our lot in with the EU. I would not want to tread that path. ''A global trade war will be hellish for the Starmer government, especially if it is forced to choose sides between the EU and the US. It has never looked more lonely to be Brexit Britain paddling about in the mid-Atlantic as Typhoon Orange masses on the horizon.''

Exactly the gist of the discussion.

What evidence? -
Yep that's a fascist in action. When is the bonfire of books?

I would take my guidance from accepted medical professional opinion in the UK.

The farmers that I know with any sort of holding have put the farm into a company structure. Nice pension earner to retain a building and rent it back to the business. Of course if you are buying land specifically for the purpose of avoiding IHT that would otherwise be due then this change is nicely targeted.

You can keep your own fetus, of course everyone is entitled to their own views on such a subject. Fortunately the UK is a modern democracy and is driven more by science than beliefs.
-
🤣 Wow you do have it bad. Might be worth reading the rest of the thread for context. 😘

This is the problem for Democracy. The further you get into respecting everyone and everything the harder it gets to make a decision to move forward on anything. Unfortunately the likes of Trump and Johnson that seem able to capture the imagination of the people are the least able to deliver.
-
🤣 Trump says Europe can do one so they will have no choice. Trump's victory is a victory of the information space with no clarity of policy. Europe need to exploit that for it's own ends. Europe of course a multi headed unit with 27 different opinions is not going to frame a viewpoint anytime soon.
-
Unfortunately our democratic model will not allow us to change. So we will continue to try and maintain what we have limping along in a continually declining, ever diminishing pool. The gap between those that have and the rest will continue to increase.

I think the bloke is a complete **** being manipulated to save him dying in prison. That said I accept that I may have a minority view on the subject. 🤣 Project 2025 At its heart, it says, is the need to "restore the family" to the centre of US life, recommending that once a conservative president is inaugurated "Federal power must... be wielded to reverse the crisis and rescue America's kids from familial breakdown." The policy agenda includes criminalising pornography, disbanding the departments for education and homeland security and overhauling the FBI. It rejects the concept of abortion as healthcare and proposes the rollback of LGBTQ+ rights, ending climate projections and using the military to tackle large-scale protests. On immigration, the blueprint calls for the largest deportation in history, a policy for which Donald Trump has also expressed his support. The database of personnel willing to help deliver Project 25 would create a pool of politically-appointed civil servants, who would be trained via an online presidential academy.

Lets start with the $300bn we have in Europe spent on European defence with weapons sent to Ukraine. That should kill two birds with one stone. German poverty could be likened to that of your local farmer. Germany no one funder for Ukraine, at 0.1 of gdp. The cost of Ukrain loosing put at 20 times higher. The US going into isolation mode cannot work but Europe stepping spending money on its own produced weapons is not only possible, but overdue. In simple terms it's white supremacy under a dictatorship.

An 800 mile buffer zone between Ukraine and Russian troops enforced by European troops no thanks.
