Change is never so easy. Happy New Year to you. I hope too that the opposition gets in. I doubt it will make any difference other than reduce the speed of decline that comes from two terms of either side.

WE could cut our own energy costs in half but our could'nt care less govt say 'no to onshore wind'. We want cheaper power then there is a price to pay.
  3. 🤣 We forgive you for your lack of knowledge of the role of the Civil Service.
  4. I have one but they are a rare thing now. Pm me an offer or you can buy these which are good too. https://www.a1decoy.co.uk/product/roetex-hunter-pro-rifle-sling-3/
  5. I am defo doomed, horses, cattle and a fair few dogs will be after me, everything except fish. 🤣
  6. Boat is currently out the water in Dartmouth and later will be berthed in Plymouth. Orca attacks are regular and almost daily off the coast of France and Spain. Several sailing boats sunk many more disabled and towed to port.
  7. Some firework displays are being replaced with drone shows it must be having a knock on effect to china firework production. I have some bangers left which I am saving to make depth charges to fend off Orca attacks on my boat. I will try and get some more before they all disappear.
  8. The negativity was the same when we moved from the horse and cart to the internal combustion engine. The Luddites could not see the opportunity. They are not suited to all (although that may change with new battery tech), but they are part of the solution. When I worked on EV strategy the manufacturers had hydrogen as a replacement for EV's phasing in from 2050. With the new battery tech that significantly increases energy density this change may never come.
  9. There are some cracking alcohol free or just 1% IPA bitters for sale now. For ma a drink to savour will be port.

^^^^^ This. In between times make the most of Octopus agile and a few batteries.
  11. I like it. Mine had nailed on eyes and nose made from conkers. 2 weeks in they were gone. I don't have grand kids mine was made to scare the postman 😁
  12. I am not following this. If the cheque was stolen and cashed the bank has been robbed nowt to do with the intended recipient of the cheque. They are still owed. So why is your friend out of pocket?
  13. Surprising as the fire risk is far less for ev's than petrol and diesel vehicles. Or the solar fields and wind turbines. I watched some long range ev journey review and the cost of charging up Tesla at Tesla points was the current wholesale electric price. A big difference from that for others. I would certainly have one as a second car, particularly if I livwed in a rural location without ready access to fossil fuel. Probably buy it second hand as there are some bargains to be had (or at least they look to be). There is certainly an issue with traditional manufacturers selling them (VW and Audi in particular) as some of the newer brands are maybe better value. I would not buy Chinese so Volvo is out for a start.
  14. Sorry but it's not looking so great. Is it sick? 🤣

Would it also require making it legal to assist someone? No help if its legal and you are immobile and bed ridden. There will also need to have access to means.

  17. I am shooting off quad sticks. With sub 12 max is around 45 yds as I dont want to do holdover etc, with hmr its good to 130 yds on rabbits its the same shooting with flat trajectory shooting to mpbr. 🤣 I dont lay on the ground as here muddy clay if you get down your plastered.
  18. I think its practice, conditions and skills. I don't have the skills or the practice. Same as centre fire. There are some on here shooting effectively out to 500 yds or more, each to their own.

So what have you seen in Switzerland that we can perhaps learn from here? I can't accept a solution that involves research on the internet. Its equivalent to back street abortion and none of us want that. I see no reason why a properly regulated service would not work in the UK when it's working in half a dozen other places already.
  20. SI pittaway has a video on tube shooting a rabbit at 85 yds with a sub 12 pretty impressive. I had a .22 with 36lb of energy and shot crows out to 85 yds and rabbits to 60 yds at night with ease. I could not do that with a sub 12. That said I think you have already missed the boat on those rabbits for a while. If they are to be culled you need to do them before they wise up. After which whatever firearm you are using they will be far more wary and difficult to deal with. If its for the pot then that's a different matter.

I for one think we should allow it. Other countries are now recognising that it's acceptable. It's a growing industry and those of sound mind should be able to have a choice. It should not be restricted to the fortunate few that can afford to go abroad for service. The UK can stick to rules like no other country, indeed some said the UK sticks to the rules when the rest of Europe just pays them lip service. The only objection I see is on religious grounds and in my view that has no place in politics unless elected for the purpose.

Why would it be generally unpopular? It's simply business rather than tourism (its far from a holiday but you could call it visiting a place of interest). There are a number of countries where it's legal now. Spain will soon be in (and a few states) and I am guessing that some of these countries will take visitors? I can understand that some may be uncomfortable with it but as to it being a generally held view I am sceptical? Seems to me that as we all start to live longer the service is likely to grow. It would be a shame for the UK to miss out on a business opportunity if that is to be the case.

That's a very broad statement. Any evidence? The service provision is wider than Dignitas. This could be simply a private business in the UK. For assisted dying the state should not be involved other than having to agree the rules and parameters of service. In all other aspects of health service provision the State already has that input through life outcome evaluation process which is economics based.
