  1. Its marked for 177 hmr or 22WMR and looks to be ten shot. I would like to swap it for a 5 shot .22rf mag for a cz 455 but not sure what its from.
  2. Fantastic. Every pic looks better. I was wondering how you start such a project. I guess its a router to start but how do you get the elipse for the thumb hole. Are you taking orders?
  3. I agree with all that you say re experience and the benefit for both the game and the individual. I can see the benefits of making it a requirement as well as the down side of costs and that others may gain the experience in other ways. I dont shoot larger game but if I wanted to go down that route i would certainly do my DSC 1 as a starting point. The only issue i have is the police making those decisions its a clear breach of human rights (ie the right of law). We vote for our politicians, they make changes and the police enforce them. Any other approach leads to corruption.
  4. Africa? or the prospect of rubber gloves at the airport
  5. I am there in May for pigeons and will look out for some to try lol
  6. I think the rule of law as established should be followed by the police. I understand how these things get interpreted by individuals and then again by FEO's to male the situation far more complex than it needs to be. It then follows that we get a discriminatory approach to the application of the la which cannot be right. If its more experience to deal with deer is required (and i can understand why this might be the case) its not up to the police to make that decision etc etc. You have mentioned boar the same could be said for goats too? Animal cruelty could be pursued even with legal calibres if not used appropriately?
  7. I can see your point of view. I like the sporting element but I am also there to do a job. I go back to Kent's post which raises an interesting point of the difference with rifle and shotgun. I wont shoot sitting pheasant as that would not be sporting (for me) but maybe if I was out with the rifle?
  8. One of my farmers told me he was advised not to use the 'beware' sign as it suggested, in law, he knew there may be a problem with people accessing the field and would be liable for injury by recklessly leaving a dangerous animal where the public might pass. It was suggested he left a sign that said 'bull in field', letting people make up their own mind. If its true the world has gone mad.
  9. I'm sorry if I have totally misread this , I'm half way through a bottle of jack Daniel's ( well its xmas ) I have not doubt that in the morning I will read this and it will all make perfect sense so if I'm coming across as a bit of a dumb *** , its not me its the uncle jack I am on the grouse . I rate both the rotary and the flappers, For me its being able to look after the kit when i am lugging it about every day. Remembering to charge the battery Your right its Christmas and tomorrow its party time. Have a good one.

    Smart Meters

At some point with smart grid we will all have them and be billed at different rates at different times of the day. Interesting to seeing your own consumption. I heard that old meters wear in your favour?
  12. Courtesy stalking directory; 8 Oct 2003 : Column WA60 Vermin Lord Selsdon asked Her Majesty's Government: Which mammals and other animals are classified as "vermin".[HL4559] Lord Whitty: There is no definition of the term "vermin" in UK law. In such a situation the Oxford Dictionary definition should be applied. The Oxford Dictionary defines "vermin" as "Animals of a noxious or objectionable kind. Originally applied to reptiles, stealthy, or slinky animals, and various wild beasts; now, excluding in US and Australia, almost entirely restricted to those animals or birds which prey upon preserved game . . ." So they cant be vermin and are defo deer
  13. In my view kit starts off getting more and more and more. Then it starts to get paired back to just the things that you really need. Thoughts 1. Forget the magnet ( no doubt heresy) and get an electric flapper. Very light If you have to walk far. 2. Or invest in a quality carrier with decent shoulder straps and you wont notice the difference a few kilo one way or the other. 3. Or loose the fuds (heavy, carry mud, static, take time to deploy) and swap for some shells and flexi pegs.
  14. Looking good already. Keep us updated pls.
  15. So impressed you were out today. I had a tree down in the garden towed it back with the Landy the wind was amazing and then it started to rain Its still raining. Sounds like you had a good day out. I would shoot the sitters too
  16. I dont know about cf for the range you want but you can get different pill colours to keep them guessing which are great for .22.
  17. Great write up. The best feeling is just being out. I am struggling between things i must do and the weather being ****. I have to zero my new rifles when i get a chance and see some farmers to sign my 646 permission slips required by Avon and Somerset there seems to be very little time for shooting. Hopefully one day soon the wetaher will be good the birds will be out and i have a day to shoot. Some days I cant believe I am retired. Hope your shoulder recovers soon.
  18. What a collection and still in use. Makes my modern stuff look boring. Thx for great pics. What is the third gun down in the rack? Its stunning.
  19. I have something like this using the new cree led's which are excellent. I cannot understand how some of the high priced hunting torches are still being sold when these hugh voltage units are so impressive. Not a lot to pay for so much light i say.
  20. :hmm:I have the same with my best rabbit shooting ground. I can be sitting quietly tucked into the hedge looking down the hedge line and have dog walkers appear behind me. Its the end of sport for at least half an hour. We have some foreshore and the level of public use (without access) is dissuading people from shooting it.
  21. How do we get close to the partridge they are giving us the run around on the rough shoot. Out of season they sat outside my hide now they are never closer than 50 m and going like trains !!
