I am looking to buy my first .22rf mostly for rabbits and other vermin out to 100m. I am looking at the bolt action cz. I am thinking to get a synthetic stock as from my air rifle and shotgun experience everything tends to get scratched. Shortest possible barrel (16inch). I have seen a synthetic thumb hole stock on the cz site which comes with a modified trigger and firing pin spring. I know everyone will have preferences on make but I would be interested to know opinions on the suggestion. Thumb hole stock. Barrel length. Reliability and accuracy are key together with a quality action.

So many options to consider. Tax rates, life plans, chance of divorce, pension, other investments and so on. It's nice to drop the mortgage but what else could you do? Every time I paid off my mortgage I found something else that would have been a better option. Even my daughter prefers student debt where finance is cheap rather than using her savings to pay for her course.

Just get in there and shoot it. When you sit there for hours you will soon learn whats what. Good luck it sounds great. I love getting a new shoot.

Its up to you. If its a small perm and your out a lot its easy to overshoot it with a 12bore.

I put them in the hedge or farm disposal bins or if its lots i bag them and the farmer burns them.
-
If i did this my farmers would find another shooter pretty quick.

I'm with you on this (other than i put / hide the waste in the hedge). If i shot once a week maybe i could take a few home but there are too many to deal with at times. A few for dog food or eating sounds about right and if the game dealer wont take them they have to go back to the ground.

I think the crows get wise through the season. If i look at my kill rates they rise to july when the young are out and then drop off after that as the birds get wise. Some places i don't shoot often so the birds should not be so wary but they are the same as other places shot more often. Good video thanks for taking the time to make it. Shooting for most of us comes and goes like the birds me thinks . Currently i am struggling with the ones that fly away low to the ground.

Need to borrow a chronograph. ..

I saw a chrono app on youtube. It was being used to measure the speed of air rifle pellets. Probably only costs a couple of quid. Don't shoot your phone though!! -
Interesting thread. Now i have two new gun shops to visit that i did not know were there.

I bought Motorola T6 (Twin Pack) Two Way Radios £46 from http://www.twoway-radio.co.uk/ They are excellent value power and a good range of channels. They have a good range on a shoot plenty far enough. When i moved house for repairs they worked between the two houses which were about 2 miles apart.

Has anyone tried one of these? oops http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Elcan-digital-day-night-vision-rifle-scope-EDNV-Customised-how-you-want-it-/231542429786?var=&hash=item35e901185a

I only go there because they have good selection and prices, and always ready to do a deal. Not the greatest of customer care despite being a good customer. Knowledge of the staff on products is very limited. If you see it as a shop that sells guns its good, but if you are looking for help or guidance go somewhere else.

Si Pittaway on u tube shoots a rabbit at 80 yds with a sub 12 and its stone dead, and he says 2 1/2 is required. For me its not the power but the accuracy of my shots. 40 yds is about max out in the field for me and i need a decent rest. Whilst a shotgun pellet only has a small amount of energy it has high energy density. When i look at the pigeons or phesant i shoot i often wonder what they actually die off. With the feathers off they don't always look beat up.

SAS spray on my A300. Under the tap for the plastic stock. I use it on average at least 3 days a week but I don't clean it often, about once a month or every 1000 shells or so, never clean the barrel. Once in a while out with the choke clean the threads and a bit of grease.

How Many People Really Goes Pigeon Shooting ?
oowee replied to marsh man's topic in Talk From The Field
I shoot 3 or 4 times a week (not weekends) and rarely here people out. Often when i get a new farm the farmer will say that he had shooters but they just stopped coming. -
Thx for all the interest I now have enough people to help me.

Sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon in a nice part of the world. -
I got them spinning but after a trip they fell to bits in the truck.

Volunteers :-) I am waiting for the wheat to be cut. Was on it last night and it looks ready to me, just need the birds to be there at the same time.

I run a club (37 members) we were with CA but having checked the insurance cover found BASC to be very much better so we agreed to change over. Also BASC works hard in support of our sport ensuring our interests are properly represented. Without them we would know so little about what may be coming over the horizon. Advice on a number of topics has been excellent from knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Well worth the money for this work alone and the insurance and mag are then just a bonus.

Interesting so you think that's why it fills in the hole? Better make sure i get it soon as my trees are under attack.
