  1. Taxing those that earn it fairly and proportionately would be my aim.
  2. There has only been one party in power the last decade. The system is complex but like every public service is currently under resourced.
  3. Its the self employed tax dodgers we need to crack down on. Pay yourself in divi's make a loan to your own company from an increase in your mortgage. Tax is a joke. That's nonsense. Servants will do what it says on the tin. It needs a political direction to do it. No self respecting tory is going to tax his mates.
  4. Not criticising them just want to see the loop holes closed. I have mates bringing home well into six figures paying tax at less than the basic rate.
  5. It's long past the time this govt should have been out. It wont be a vote grabber for the young, who struggle to turn out but add it the tourist trips to Rwanda and the old codgers and blue rinse that never leave the vale will be wetting themselves.
  6. 😁 Your probably right but I would get free uni education whilst I was in 😅 That's all it is they stay in till they mess up or the public gets fed up and we switch to the other. We need PR.
  7. I wish they would block voting at aged 70 stop those that can't keep up from destroying the future of the young.
  8. Putin was not voted in. Russia is an economic basket case that has stopped producing financials as a result. Even the offer of peace talks from Russia is a reflection of the turning tide of the war. The Maidan uprising was clearly home grown and won through despite the presence of Russian troops trying to quell it. Take a look at Winter on Fire as a starter. If Russia was disinterested in the West then why fund so much dissent and support extremist politics? We (the democratic world) are currently at war with Russia but have yet to recognise it.
  9. Extreme left and extreme right meet in the middle as an autocracy. As you push further to the extremes of politics (left or right) you start with reducing freedoms. Pulling out of international agreements and institutions that hold administrations to account and control the abuse of power, (ECHR, Nato, EU, UN, etc). The next step is to restrict criticism by controlling the press and the judiciary. All done to keep power in the centre. Next comes an extension of political term and then democracy is sidelined. It all starts simple enough. Democracy is a great thing but as it develops it demands more and more liberalism. Some see this as a betrayal of national values, an undermining of their personal beliefs and see themselves as disenfranchised from politics. As a result they choose more and more extreme politics (Corbyn, Reform, violence and so on), in the belief that radical action is the only way to achieve change. Radical action requires an authoritarian politics rather than a consensus approach promoted by democracy. So Russia as a failed state is basically a gangster society without the rule of law. It is unable to compete with the West in a conventional capitalist market as it has weak law and poor accountability. It can only compete by exploiting the weaknesses of the west by sowing division . It sponsors extreme politics that work in it's favour through corruption and a vast disinformation campaign. The far right politics of Europe within the established leading economies is a great way to start using immigration as the wedge. It buys into these organisations to gain leverage and promote the cause.
  10. You should maybe look at where the far right are going in Europe. The involvement from Russia. I quite like Gove. A thinking politician.
  11. I understand why you would want to forget about it. You can't stop trade in a capitalist democracy. Fortunately it looks like we will soon find a way around the blockage.
  12. 'It can only get better' the track used as backing for the miserable Sunak announcement was used by Labour for the 96 Blair election. One of the most economically successful elections and PM's in recent history. Like the Blair New Labour rebirth, Starmer and his team have been putting lots of work into planning and making a fast start to government should they be elected. We all want the younger generation to get voting so that we can reverse this Brexit debacle at the earliest and give them back a brighter future.
  13. I can't understand the election timing call. It would be good to see some spine in any new govt. Shapps has been pretty bold in Ukraine. It would be good to see John Healey take the next step.
  14. I think in part the election system is stacked against either side making a significant difference. The time frame between election is just too short. It will take a new minister at least three years to understand a portfolio. Often there is no formal training and many will get reshuffled just as they get a grip on what it is they are trying to do. This in my view is where the waste in government comes from. The lack of joint working resulting from petty politicking coupled with short term objectives further exacerbates the problem. No wonder that massive policy tankers such as the NHS are avoided at all costs. IDS made a good fist of trying to reform much of the welfare framework but was undermined from the opposition as well as his own party. Anything difficult will be avoided.
  15. I think a new government needs to take action. This lot have done nothing but fight each other for the last two years. after destroying everything else they dealt with, prior to that. Crime will be the least of the worries. Trying to deal with the debt will take at least a term.
  16. Great result. I hope it can be followed up with an award for compensation. If BASC could cover his legal costs (offset by the award payment in some way) that would be a further deterrent for this heavy handed and unlawful approach being adopted by Tim Smith.

  18. Ouch. Not for me. And it's likely green 🤮
  19. Very nice indeed. Good move taking those extra carts..
  20. Why not. Lawful to shoot invasive species. If I were in Africa I would be using a shotgun or a pistol. Gets the adrenalin flowing 😉 I won't wait to be attacked. Would you?
  21. Definitely. Dangerous animal.
  22. I have baited for one not far from Longleat. No show for me but plenty of sightings.
