  1. That's all well and good but I did not want them to substitute an alternative product. I had a particular reason for selecting the discs I ordered and I don't care whether Mercedes fit Stark products or not. Many other people have had the same stunt pulled on them by these people and in my opinion it's the sort of cowboy behaviour that gets the internet a bad name.
  2. Ref: Onlinecarparts.co.uk (and I gather several other online names) This dodgy outfit may have been mentioned here before and I now know from scouting around the car forums that they have a habit of doing to almost everyone exactly what they did to me. I'm anal about brakes and always do my own work. My front discs are about ready to be replaced and when looking around for price/availability of the type I want, I came across these people. I placed my order on 30th March but when it was confirmed I realised I was buying from a German business called Autodoc AG. (They also have an online presence using the same site layout as onlinecarparts). It took 12 days for the discs to arrived and in the box instead of what I'd ordered were discs branded Stark. I've never heard of Stark and neither had any of the many posters on the forums who'd had the same thing done to them. There's a huge range of parts branded Stark but who knows if any of the stuff is up to spec., where it's made or who's responsible for support or warranty. And so began the fight. First they insisted that Stark was just as good and I should just use them. They seemed to have trouble understanding that I wanted what I'd ordered, not what they thought I might like instead. Luckily I'd paid using PayPal and although they wriggled and twisted via multiple emails, eventually they paid for return shipment, but it was only the threat of raising it as a dispute with PayPal that got them moving to supply the right discs or refund my money. They then claimed my VIN number was no good, it was perfectly ok of course so I sent them a photo to prove it and gave them 24 hours before I contacted PayPal. They did ship the right discs and they arrived today, 6 weeks and numerous unnecessary emails since I placed the order.
  3. Know the Oxford fiasco fairly well, but what drives me nuts is roundabouts with traffic lights. What numpty came up with that idea?
  4. Optima chokes are a different fit from HP and not interchangeable. Having had both types my considered opinion is that there is no performance difference, especially as the bore profile is the same. Strangely there are also Optima Plus chokes which are different again. I would say that Gunman has it about right.
  5. No, the personal version can't call a landline. Search for VOIP apps.
  6. I think you can with the business version but not the personal one. There are apps available to make VOIP calls to any number but not all have free calls.
  7. Round here the charity shops have wised up to the online and boot sale scavengers. Prices have gone way up over the last couple of years making it harder to score a real bargain or make it worth selling on.
  8. Nice! A step up from the 694 of course in money terms but a superior level of fit and finish. CG worked out how to entice Beretta owners to change years ago. I certainly won't be returning to Beretta and I doubt many other CG owners will.
  9. This shows the inertia system on the latest models.

I find this a somewhat patronising comment which is like the we know better than you mentality of the climate alarmists who sneeringly use expressions like "Climate change denier". Most people of my age group agree that the climate is different today from when we were kids. Winters are milder and wetter, whereas summers are dryer and about a month or so longer and there's a lot more wind. But I have to insist that my view is most certainly not "limited" and I suggest you get a copy of "There is no climate crisis" by David Craig. It's available in book form or on Kindle. As far as I know it's the only information source that uses real data and real analysis over real time scales rather than the "adjusted" figures and highly selective data from the likes of NASA and the IPCC, as well as deliberate data manipulation by some scientists due to confirmation bias. It's worth noting that of the 140 or so climate models developed by scientists over the last 20 years, not one has ever produced an accurate prediction. In my opinion the above book should be compulsory reading for the government, for the hysterics like XR, the IPCC and all school children over the age of eleven. Maybe that would open a few peoples minds to the greatest and most costly misconception the modern world has ever seen.

Excellent post. The real meaning of Nett Zero is that we will impoverish every working household in the land in order to achieve almost "Nett Zero" difference to global emissions. Nett Zero is gesture politics at it's absolute worst and it's by far the most costly. China's emissions alone increase every 18 months or so by an amount equal to our overall total. Add in the rest of the far east along with India, Brazil, America and of course Russia and all we can do is spend trillions in tax money trying to set an example for the above nations to sneer at. The National Grid has calculated that just the network upgrades needed to meet the Nett Zero targets will cost £3 trillion and that's already about double the governments estimate for the total cost of the whole ridiculous stunt. Anyone care to guess who will have to pay for it?
  12. Then they must have been redesigned to work without an inertia block. It's news to me but then I'm not a Browning follower.
  13. I wasn't even remotely suggesting that 725s won't shoot 21gm loads or that light loads affect all of them. But there are many American skeet shooters who've had to have their inertia springs reset so that hey can use sub gauge tubes. Just because you can dry fire both barrels without bumping the stock doesn't mean the triggers are proper mechanical ones. Basically all our triggers are "mechanical" in the literal meaning of the word, which is how Browning can get away with their advertising claim, but 725 triggers are not pukka mechanical ones, they're a fudged inertia system which mostly behaves like mechanical triggers- at least until the load is too light.
  14. Not quite true. Browning advertise it as having mechanical triggers but it's really a hybrid because it still relies on an inertia block. American skeet shooters who use sub gauge tubes down to .410 typically have to send their 725s in for adjustment to work with light shells.
  15. If you're using a laptop it's probably switching to power saving mode when you use the usb to power a device. There may be an option in settings for this, Google will know.
  16. All of which I agree with. If I were looking for a new mid range clays gun the F16 sporter would on the list to try - along with about 4 others - but some itches are better left unscratched. Ask me how I know. 🤣
  17. The problem is Gordon that whilst your hatred and contempt for Andrew is truly visceral, it's still only her word against his and there is no admissible evidence of any kind to support her claims against him. No one thinks he's entirely innocent, no one truly believes his story and no one likes him, but I for one don't believe he raped her or sexually abused her - and I'm not alone. She even boasted to another girl about sleeping with Andrew! I accept that to some extent she's likely a victim of her upbringing which may have affected her judgement as a teenager, but unfortunately for her case there are enough credible witnesses to testify that she willingly co-operated with Epstein and Maxwell both in the grooming of young girls and in voluntarily participating in the jollies around the world involving rich and famous men - for which she was well rewarded. She and/or her advisers have been highly astute in selecting her targets for litigation. With Andrew it was never about who was right and who was wrong or what he did or didn't do because, due to his position, his hands were always tied.
  18. I don't understand why that would happen as I've been using the same stuff for many years and never had it turn black. I get it from Alan Rhone and it's the recommended lube for Krieghoffs - which is good enough for me.
  19. As I said before, regardless of her denials she was always going to settle as her team would never let her be cross examined on the stand. Just as they didn't at the Maxwell trial.
  20. The game models are noticeably lighter. I wouldn't want to shoot a round of 100 clays with one.
  21. I tried one out at a sporting clay shoot and it worked very well for me. It fitted and felt very much the same as my CG and had similarly nice trigger pulls. The owner said it weighed 8lb 3oz which I think is about right for a sporter. Liked it as a shooter, don't like the aesthetics. Didn't especially notice the recoil BTW, although many Americans moan about harsh recoil with Blasers. Perhaps it's their obsession with rifle mounting shotguns, who knows.
  22. Which is a factor influencing the so called systemic racism and sexism which the police force in general, and the Met in particular, are always being accused of. The reality is that resentment and anger are perfectly natural when exceptional officers are continually being overlooked for promotion simply because they're white males. There's a clue in the words "equal opportunity" because equal is the very thing it isn't when all too often it's loaded in favour of minorities. Affirmative action, aka positive discrimination, is not a recipe for a successful and effective police force - or anything much else.
  23. Just like her predecessor, the hapless clown Hogan-Howe, **** has presided over a cabal of senior officers who have all looked out for each other's backs. Actual on the ground police work and getting rid of the age old stink of corruption in the Met apparently hasn't been anywhere on the priority list. Useless as she is, Cressida **** exemplifies the price we have to pay when officially sanctioned diversity trumps ability. The watchword for all meaningful appointments, whether in the police or elsewhere, should simply be merit and fitness for the role, not some points based process looking primarily at race, gender or sexual orientation.
  24. Steady now... PW is to Miroku/Browning what the BBC is to the Labour Party. 🤣
  25. A rare sight in your part of the world - at least according to my niece who lives on Skye.
