  1. Im with your mate, buy a gun to shoot it not look at it. You've said yourself you shoot better with the silver pigeon, why handicap your self by shooting a gun you don't get on with as well?
  2. My optician told me I had central vision with a very slight favoured left eye. Im right handed and have tried to close my left eye with works when practicing my mount at home but when it comes to actually shooting at a target I instinctively keep both open. I have tried an eye patch and even blanking of the LH side of shooting glasses but this tends to give me a head ache after a while and I resort to keeping both eyes open.
  3. I have only ever referred to a database as electronic. That description is a learning day for me. They have had to alter there procedures since GDPR, whether this includes the procedure for cartridge purchase I don't know.
  4. I hear what your saying but it seams to be a company policy and something I've just got used too. At least they are not storing the information on a data base though.
  5. They are covering themselves. It's so if they have problems or if asked they can prove they have checked. The information is only stored on the receipt and not on a data base. She did say a data base would be better so they wouldn't have to input the details every time.
  6. My wife works for mole valley. I quizzed her as to why and what info they take when buying cartridges. If your an account holder they take your certificate number and expiry date so they know the ticket is valid. If your not an account holder then they'll take your name and address and your certificate number and expiry for the same reason. She says the information is not held on a data base as they don't have one apparently. They do it so they can legally be sure your ticket is valid. It's the norm for me as this is where I buy cartridges and I get 10% discount putting it through her staff discount lol. Mole valley own countrywide now as far as I know
  7. Turkey again this year, with either beef or lamb (depending on which surfaces first in the freezer). Me and Mrs Jbob will be hosting this year much like last yr and the year before and the year........ đŸ¤” you get the picture lol. Its not so bad as it means we get to drink while the others who have to drive cant lol. Ill be making the pavlova while Mrs Jbob ..........does everything else. In my defence I will be doing all the veg prep so in my mind its an even spread of work load. Oh and this year my sister in law will be bringing her partner who's a chef. If he says one word he can sit out doors (edge of bodmin is a bit chilly on the 25th Dec)

    FLOOD PLAN...

Some very good points above. I agree with scully in that it sounds like your house may have had insulation added. If it's a cavity walled house then quite possibly the cavity has been filled and this creates a direct conduit for moisture to pass to the inner leaf and cause damp problems. The cavity is there for a reason. I have recommended people NOT to have a cavity wall upgraded this way for this reason. It may be worth checking the walls and if retrofit insulation has been fitted in the cavity consider having it removed. Houses need ventilation even if this means throwing open a window. But given the climate and time of year a mechanical system would be a positive way forward.

    Kofs.

I have pal who is about the same height as op and is well built. He swears by a 13.5" lop. He prefers shooting a gun with his nose literally on the back of the receiver. He see's no problem taking a new gun and lopping of an inch. He also says I should cut my gun down. I'm 6ft with medium build, long arms and neck, my lop is 14.5". I don't get it but that doesn't take away fron the fact he can hit more than me đŸ¤”
  10. +1 I wouldn't let want anyone on my land with an attitude like that. You should tell him he can look elsewhere for their final drive and that the agreement you had with the previous keeper doesn't extend to him and make it abundantly clear that any birds on your land are yours.
  11. How old is the building that your flat is in? It sounds to me like you have timber stud walls for your internal partitions and if the building has been converted to flats at some point (I am guessing from your description) then you have a timber stud lining set about 25mm of the wall between your flat and the stairs. This lining may even have 2 layers of plaster board for fire protection. This would be a typical detail when converting a building to flats. I am not sure how you fit the cabinet to this as it sounds like a party wall to the communal stair and therefore sound, fire and thermal integrity will need to be maintained.
  12. Apologies I miss understood. Your describing the cavity formed with dabs when fixing plasterboard? Yes I agree a spacer would be needed there if your not going to remove plasterboard and set the cabinet back against the block work. Sorry I miss understood your initial post
  13. This would still leave a gap between the cabinet and the wall for someone to get a pry bar in. If this method is to allow for the skirting then raising the cabinet above the skirting on a timber box or bricks would mean you could get direct contact between the cabinet and wall. The cabinet should have holes in the bottom so if a timber box is used you could screw down into that to avoid the box being removed, saying that an 80KG safe sat on top i dont think anything under it will move.
  14. Agreed I use these https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-rawlbolts-m12-x-140mm-5-pack/57310 Feo came to inspect, gave the cabinet a nudge and push and said ''thats fine". Mines fixed to a single skin internal masonry wall (100mm dense block being an old council property)
  15. Tom Just had a quick look on Hampshire firearms website and they are suggesting grant of SGC is 12 weeks. I would expect your ticket in the next week or so. Not long to wait now.
  16. Strange statement indeed. I know a lot of people that who don't have a SGC of FAC that don't conform to the OP's description of non SGC and FAC holders. I also have a friends that claim benefits (also non SGC and FAC holders) that do not spend their days in the pub and claim disability benefit because they cant work. They also have to support a young family on this claim and have to watch every penny they spend.
  17. I have a pair of the Navy work trousers for general DIY, decorating and chores around the house. I find them very comfy. I did wear them in the field and caught them on barbed wire which did leave a small (repairable) tear. Otherwise I like them. Might look at getting a green pair for shooting as the pockets are large enough for a number of cartridges and stuff, just have to watch it when climbing over fences.
  18. I dont see the harm in name dropping the shop if they gave you good service. Sound like a great result.

    garden shed

It wouldn't be a bad idea on a single skin masonry wall, especially a 4" one. If it was a cavity wall then no need for a breather membrane

    Turkish Lira

Sorry above post was a keyboard malfunction As above, pay in £sterling out there. They offer good rates. If you want to take lira take some and some £sterling. I take both change up the sterling out there if the rate improves or just negotiate in £sterling. I find having both can be useful.
  21. Last one I went to the guy next to me wanted to buy cartridges. I advised him not to. We watched as the shot up and went for more than they were worth. Like to think I saved him some money. It is funny though to watch people blindly throw money away.
  22. This happens at my local gun auction every time. Slab of bog standard cartridges go for more than they would have paid at the local farmers shop. Some people are crazy. I did get a bargain on a 22lr once though

    Sewer pipe

Do you know where the main sewer is own and maintained by your water provider? Is it to the back of the garden or out the front of the house? Once you know where that is lift all the manhole covers with in your property and then get someone to flush the loos. Then watch where the water goes. I do this when surveying properties and it gives you a good idea where the drains run. Once you have located your own private drains then connect into the nearest foul water manhole nearest to where you want your kennel
  24. Just added myself to the head to head. Alway a good crack
