Was merely pointing out that the Antarktis are as good as the Dovre but have an insulated lining making them warmer. Turn up at most decent driven pheasant shoots in the country with 28g of 7.5s you would not be allowed to shoot. Don'y give 2 jots about pattern you have to put it in the right place and if you are pricking birds (it happens) with 7.5 shot you have zero percent chance of recovering it. As for using IC chokes. Seriously! 1/2 choke as a minimum for all game shooting. And some of you are condemning high bird shooting yet treating game like going skeet shooting. If you are shooting 20yd pheasants use a .410 or at the very most a 28g.

I honestly can't believe anyone is advocating shooting a January pheasant with 7.5s. I'm surprised you are not recommending skeet chokes to go with them!

It's the nut behind the butt in most cases. Once normal parameters are achieved after that it is confidence in gun and cartridge when you can kill consistently with your chosen combination that is you best cartridge!

My 2 youngest daughters and wife (6 & 8 ) are coming for their 1st driven day next week at a prestigious estate they will be not adhering to any any perceived clothing etiquette except pink and and yellow wellies, they are there to enjoy themselves meet the other guns see the shooting and hopefully pick up some pheasants with our dogs. Clothing later maybe but if you go for the 1st few times to any hobby you will be accepted in what you arrive in, our sport is no different. Your kids don'y arrive at karate, judo, tennis whatever in all the right gear. Stop letting pre conceived prejudices letting kids getting involved! Kids do not need to be dressed in tweeds to enjoy a day with their parents on a days shooting!

Graham, I do to think Scotland could survive and prosper being Independent just not under SNP governance. The people of Scotland have just done that 55% of the electorate voted to remain was part of the UK the same as last time. 54% of the UK electorate voted for 2 Brexit parties! Almost the same as the Leave vote, oh look a common theme has developed. But the Brexit party got 25.8% of the vote, just behind the Tories at 28.5%, suggesting the Conservative landslide would have been even greater had Farage given Boris Johnson a clear run in all seats.

SNP only got 45% of the vote up here yesterday, the same percentage they had in the last referendum when they lost, why does this now give them the right to demand another indy vote? PS the oil figures the SNP quote for being sufficient to survive were last updated in 2014 before the massive oil crash which we are still recovering from........ So we would give up our highest per head Barnett payment, to set up our own civil service, armed forces, border guard pay the EU £££££££ and survive on the profits from whisky and haggis. Update on the Cheddite Elite 36/4s plas wads used today, fired 250 on the 1st 2 drives and was very happy with some lovely clean kills with most killed very cleanly. Will probably go with these where plan wads are allowed. Used another 250 Hull 34/4 HPE for the next 2 drives and they worked just as well with some proper good stuff folding dead on the last drive, which a couple of Southern boys astounded with what what was killed today.

Salmo, I have some on the radiator giving them another try in pure fibre 36/4. Will let you know on Wednesday!

The 36/4s also come under the Stone Dead banner but the pure fibre were not good. I actually gave away over a 1000 at the end of one shoot as I couldn't anything with them. Actually borrowed some Dark Storm that day to get through the day. I don't get on with them either but shot better once I started using them. I'm actually looking forward to trying these new loads.

I've used his 36/4s and 40/4s plas wad and fibre with plastic disk for the last 3 seasons. I only changed this year because he hasn't quite got his pure fibres right yet and many shoots are now insisting on pure fibre.
