  1. Oh yes, I can “see” that now you describe it. Seems an utterly odd thing to do but then I do have to whip my pals for carrying broken guns with stocks over their shoulders (I assume this is due to them having heavy guns and puny arms). So perhaps he was tired and made a stupid, life ending mistake. This is why I firmly believe in fail safe. Muzzle awareness at all times and then sensible precautions to ensure the gun is only loaded when reasonably required.
  2. My picture of this description was a rifle carried on a sling muzzle up, but agree that either the police report or translation lacks clarity.
  3. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/oct/17/british-woman-fatally-shot-while-hunting-boar-in-france-prosecutor-says From initial reports it looks like an awful accident due to gross negligence.
  4. The going up the ladder footage... he knew what he was doing getting her on that retrieve 🤣 I couldn’t watch the shooting towards windows, made me very uncomfortable.
  5. I went lamping with my dad some 25 years ago and spine shot a rabbit. Next morning he said to me ashen faced “did you sleep at all last night?” I replied I slept well, he said he hadn’t been able to sleep as he could still hear the rabbit’s screams. Never came lamping with me again. It didn’t fuss me but I guess as you get older your testosterone decreases, your prey drive diminishes and you are more prone to being put off the sport. My three boys are voracious, wanting to capture kill and cook anything that moves. I’m much less driven than they are, I can see the next wave coming and knocking me from my perch in 15 years’ time.
  6. In architecture “schedule” is a frequently used word. Not many people can pronounce it correctly, which does grate upon me. The misuse and abuse of apostrophes also frustrates me, some of the above posts on pedantry... I can only presume these were written in jest. I never use the word “kids” to describe my children or any others, I find it quite a vulgar arrival into our language. Being heavily dyslexic has meant I’ve had to work hard to use even basic written English, I find it disrespectful that other people are so lazy in communication. We all make mistakes and must offer leniency in our judgement of others as we will have inadvertently pushed their button in our own unwitting transgressions.
  7. I will upset people but I’m fancy, I have a separate gun for ‘fowling. A Baikal side by side in 2.75”. I’ve taken half a dozen different guns on the foreshore, side by sides do not open as wide so are less likely to get mud into the bite if you’re in a deep gutter. Also an older gun is likely to be loose, or a little off face so can deal with the odd grain of fine grit without seizing. Salt water is punishing so it helps if you aren’t overly precious.
  8. Look good. What paint did you use?
  9. Ok, that’s weird. It is well past the delivery date. I’ll send you the note from Evri.
  10. Did they arrive ok? I will chase up the courier if not. Fingers crossed they didn’t break the 10kg max weight!
  11. He got tired of the forum being constantly derailed by a small number of trolls, people who don’t shoot dominating shooting threads... people who don’t have dogs derailing the dog threads. He quit around Feb/March from memory, I messaged via Jacko. It was a shame to lose JDog and Jacko, the later broke the rules due to being unable to deal with the constant trolling. They were some of the few people here who posted actual content and not just promotion for their YouTube channel etc.
  12. The boys and I have collected over 1,000 this morning. A little wet but thoroughly good fun. Conkers, acorns, beech mast, chestnuts sorted and bagged. It’s about 7kg in weight, I’ll go to the post office tomorrow if you PM me your address 👍
  13. I watched this earlier this morning, it came up on my YouTube home page.
  14. 1 young boar on Sunday, dog pointed him up in the tree ... he didn’t see us stalk in and took a full pattern. 2784
  15. No issue at all to have a working dog and work, they are not your fur baby. It frustrates me that so many people are incapable of preparing their animals to be a successful part of society. Bring your dog up to the expect to be apart from you and be happy without being a brat. Start little and often, vary the setting, lengthen the time. For the initial training period think about kennel, portable kennel (car), your parents. Break up the day as much as possible, pop home at lunch. When you are at home the dog should be kennelled yo rest and then brought out. Little pups need plenty of rest. Personally I’d get a decent pick up with cage back and shelter arc. I had my Range Rover L322 fabricated for the job but in the end the car smelt like a kennel! If circumstances allow take it to work a couple of days a week and at lunch take the pup for a walk (assuming you’re not on the rigs). Good for both of you. Feral pigeons are great for steadiness and you’ll enjoy the time together.
  16. Thanks, they loved it. Fly fishing was hard but they can cope with everything else.
  17. Have fun and enjoy this last of the summer. Soon we will be on themstsj them on the hills!
  18. I will get my boys onto the acorns and horse chestnuts for you. What sort of quantity?
  19. I will upload the write up and more pictures tomorrow. Didn’t catch anything on the river, but was great to go with my eldest on it. The fish and venison have been wolfed down. 126 fillets of fish and an entire haunch off a red.
