  1. This affair flags in so many issues that it’s hard to see the wood for the trees. My main issue is the lazy comparison to the holocaust. I’d clip his lugs for that alone. That the BBC always offer balance and avoids appearing politically biased is well known. Too much licence fee money is thrown away on salaries for sports pundits, especially footballers. We can’t afford it and most don’t want it. Whilst they didn’t pick the time or issue, this is a golden opportunity to introduce some radical changes to sports coverage. Sack off the football pundits who strike and start again with a fresh, younger crop. New t&cs, lower wage bill, no real change to the coverage. There’s plenty of ex-footballers who’d be happy for the gig. Sky cleared out a load for various reasons and frankly, who can tell the difference?
  2. He’s not sacked. This is a temporary suspension.
  3. He’s stepped back from hosting MOTD.
  4. Does any pundit add value to Match of the Day, etc? Sack the lot and pay proper journalists to commentate.
  5. It’s not out until 10 Jan.
  6. I bought these in the end and wore them today to test them in advance of next weekend’s game shooting, https://subzero.co.uk/collections/mens-base-layers Warmed up nicely after a ten minute walk and stayed that way. Was a little over warm by the time I got home, so have high expectations for next week.
  7. It appears the complainant is a serial anti-Royalty whinger, previously alleging various Royals had it in for Markle. Her charity is funded by BLM, that well-known bastion of balanced views. Nobody comes out of this well. The Palace should have stuck by Hussey, who in turn shouldn’t have made eye contact, never mind spoken to the complainant.
  8. Lavenir https://www.country-catalogue.co.uk/brand/lavenir Cheap, totally waterproof. I bought mine from their factory shop in London years ago - best truly waterproof coat I own. Not warm, but it keeps out the rain.
  9. Not really, he won in London (twice) and most recently won a 90-odd seat majority in the Commons. All the BS around Covid events in No. 10 was a media-generated storm in a teacup and I believe the majority of voters will see it as such.
  10. I wonder what will be the public’s view if/when Russia uses a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine? Will that be USA-led disinformation, Russian self defence caused by NATO aggression, or an unspeakable act of war? After all, the Allies dropped theirs on Japan - and they deserved it…
  11. The fact that Labour are frightened by Boris is the only reason I need to vote for Boris.
  12. The auction platform doesn’t know if the wine’s stored correctly - the seller must prove it. This level of care is aimed at the chaps selling cases of really good stuff, not the odd bottle received as a present, etc. Normally, cases are stored in bond, in a recognised specialist facility. It may even be bought by a buyer who also uses the same warehouse, so the cases travel a few yards to its new home.
  13. Having looked at the BASC Annual Review, there’s a lot of talk about working with politicians, the police and bio diversity. All jolly good, but I don’t think that’s a good enough return on its fees and the promises it makes to look out for shooters. Members want to see real help, so the lead ban, police not processing firearms applications, grouse moor bans, Packham getting away with murder, etc. are all day-to-day matters that affect its members. I can’t help but think we have too many shooting organisations that now benefit the staff. A single, aggressively-led group, in the style of the USA NRA, would have people tripping over themselves to join up. The UK BASC - not so much.
  14. It’s not worth much without provenance and evidence that it was stored properly. Just drink it yourself.
  15. The longer in office, the better the pension.
  16. Yes, look on YouTube. There’s many examples of cheap ultrasound cleaners doing the same job as the much more expensive, Guinness-branded version. The issue seems to be that the non-branded versions are too good, so don’t overfill the glass.
  17. Thanks to those who provided useful feedback.
  18. Thanks for your both informative and useful response. It isn’t always apparent from the car park what’s best to wear, hence the question.
  19. Has anybody shot at AGL? Is it well-maintained with good drainage? After the rain, am I better in wellingtons or boots? Some places, Holland & Holland, have excellent paths, whereas others are less cultivated.
  20. I’m struggling to decide whether this thread’s a wind up. If not, why would anybody post this stuff on a public forum? It’s all beyond my comprehension.
  21. I read (in The Field, if memory serves) that some of the old-time leather treatments can weaken the stitching in footwear, so whilst it’s good for the leather, it’s bad for the construction. Most footwear isn’t built to last any more , so it’s not an issue. I use Ledergris on leather boots and Saphir polish on shoes.
  22. I’m saying that frothing at the mouth and being so outraged that you post about it on a shooting forum is embarrassing.

Would you shout out the name in the park today? I’d rather they show the film with Name change, than it be pulled forevermore because the name is dubious. Re. Gibson’s character, I’ve no doubt he didn’t suffer fools gladly. Bader was the same by all accounts. However, that’s the sort of character that won wars and dragging it up is petty-minded. I doubt if they would lose much sleep over the criticism.
