PORK PIE FANS

This morning I purchased* a pot-bellied, hand-raised pork pie that, to my palate, beats all others. Made by Pat Gorman, Bloxwich, it is delicious. The pastry is crisp, the jelly outstanding and the dark, spicy, pork filling is like nothing I have tasted in my sixty-odd years. No lumps of fat or chewy gristle.

What's your favourite pork pie?

* and it was from Aldi on 'special', £1.69!

i like the square one with the egg in it from morrisons delli, mmm

Think you will find thats a GALA pie!

Personally I am VERY fussy when it comes to a Pork Pie as I am not a lover of the gelatine sick.jpg

I prefer a Pie with little to NO gelatine but like the Pork and pickle and sausage and onion ones too :look:

Whilst on pies, Tesco really annoys me, the deli counter sells Gala pie OR Gala Pie WITH EGG. *** either it is a Gala Pie or a Pork Pie. A gala pie without egg is just a Square Pork Pie.

Don't get me started on Pear Cider and Perry. grrrrrrrr.

Anyway I love pork pies, any pork pie some are marvelous and some are just about ok but meat in a pie is always good.

I tried a load at the CLA this year and there were some truly amazing ones, sadly I can't remember what they were called. Damn I will just have to go again this coming year.

Dickinson and Morris pork pies are very tastey ,a bit pricey but worth it

Yes, these are the best, no matter what flavour you have they are all delicious. As are their hot sausage baps(spicy chinese sausage in particular). Fortunately i live in melton mowbray so a visit to "ye old pork pie shop" is a 20 minute walk. I also have a relative who works at tuxford&tebbits so i get fridge filling wedges of stilton for free. :look:

I've never been a real follower of Pork Pie but do enjoy it when its served up on occasion. But just like sausages, I prefer one where the meat speaks more than the spices mixed with it, if that makes sense.

The wife did buy a Pork n Stuffing one once, that was rather tasty though.

Ooo I gotta try me one of these.

Pork and Black Pudding Pie - chunks of black pudding mixed into pork pie meat in a short crust pie with added pie jelly.
