Paddy Galore!
unless anyone nearby can shoot or trap it for you, try a bowl of diesel near the pen, foxes dont like the smell.

pyr8
set a snare over the hole he,s dug,you should get him going in or out.don,t like snares myself but if it,s a choice betweem the fox or your birds, sorry fox.
maddog546
You have a problem because like everything out there in the wild they are hungry,a wire is your best choice ,as for digging in your chicken wire !I assume the ground where you are is frozen,if you can find a blackthorn bush try cutting some of that off and sticking in the hole the fox has dug, make sure you tie it to the wire so it cant easily be pulled out. stevethevanman
The paving slab option is the best I think, sometihng heavy he cant move and the chances are, another will take its place if you shoot it, so getting rid of this one may not be the end of everything. triscrx
May not be the end but it will be some good sport for someone. But longterm the slabs sound alright but I'd also bury wire the slabs just mean charlie will have to dig a ft further..
aaron airgunner
thanks for all the help. i've put paving slabes round the bottom of the house and there hasnt been any more diggings. i can't use a snare because i have no ways of dispatching it once its caught. and im right next to a road so i cant get someone in to shoot it. SSS
You would be surprised what you can do, shooting within 50 feet of the centre of the highway is only illegal if you are causing danger or distress. Do you have a lot of land or is it just in your garden. If you are not too far away, I don't mind shooting it with my shotgun
