Fatcatsplat
There was a fella last year regularly going around over the Basildon/Pitsea area - Must admit that it looked very cool when driving down the A13. Seemed to have a lot of control over height and direction. Not sure they do a fan big enough for me though

ME
Are you thinking of another hobby to get into? I just Googled it and the gear costs £5k + That, coupled with my dislike for heights would make it a hobby that I wont be taking up ! I took that picture because we watched him set up and take off. I like the sense of freedom about it... and the fact that you could "buzz" people !
DaveK
and the fact that you could "buzz" people ! and get decoyed over pea fields.

libs
Our faker friend Bear Grylls flew one of these up a very high mountain somewhere, the air was so thin they had to whack a supercharger on the tiny motor to stop it stalling, he was on the TV a while back showing him getting ready for the 'challenge'. Looks like huge fun if you ask me!

Mattw
I think it looks great fun, even if you saved a bunch of cash and did it without the food processor on your back, and rely on thermals and updrafts.
Ozzy Fudd
flying? without a cockpit?! na this is more fun, 0 - 60 in less than 2 seconds on take off, and quite a good chance of surviving if you do balls it up (like me ) name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="480" height="385">
Bleeh
I was toying with the idea of trying to make a paramotor a while back as a project, to be honest I can't see it being too hard.
