ME
OK, I am too lazy to do my own homework. What is the difference between the American, Silohuette, Varmint and the rest of the CZ range ? I am looking for a rough tough HMR for shooting from a 4x4, which one do I get ?
SSS
Sillouhette and style are plastic stocks, one having stainless barrel and action, the other steel, the rest of the range are all the same really, wood stock blued barrel and action. The difference as far as I can see is barrel length and checkering on the stock. A rough tough model would be the sillouhette (I think) so that would be the one. I will be corrected if any of the above is wrong (very probable)
swiss.tony
sillouhette is also the lightest dont way much more than couple of bags of sugar and is cheap as chips s lol get the 16 barrel mate

Only thing you may want is a shorter barrel but its not essential if shooting off the top of the truck
Dunkield
You want a Style or a Silhouette in 16" - it's that simple
ME
You want a Style or a Silhouette in 16" - it's that simple OK, I like the Style and I like the Silhouette.......but which ones best ? (said in a Harry Hill voice)
MC
The one that is best is the one you like the look of most, or is cheapest. They are all the same basic action and the main differences are the stock (Plastic/Wood) The barrel length(I prefer the 16" one) and whether it is stainless/ nickel plated or blued. I have a 452 American with a 16" barrel if you ever want to try it. They will all shoot better than most people can, and they don't need anything doing to them either. (Don't waste you cash on a trigger kit, they are not needed)

ME
I am getting "movement" looking at the Style. Is that what you meant MC ? > CZ STYLE <
Beardo
shiny (style) or stealthy (silhouette), the choice is yours.... both synthetic and take the knocks well (mine fell out the window once). get the 16" though, much easier to shoot from a vehicle. Zapp
The Style is the tarty version of the Silhouette. A Silhouette for tarts if you like. I use a Silhouette in .22 and whatever the one with the mahoosive 21 inch barrel is in .17HMR, which is fantastic but a bit unwieldy in the truck. Get a Silhouette  ZB

MC
ME, Yes thats the one but you really want a 16" barrel, add a moderator on a 22" and it will be far too long for shooting off the BADBOY.
Dunkield
The style is shiny at all the barrel has a shot balsted nickle finish. It does glint <a bit> if you catch in the lamp but that is about all. CZ porn...
Beardo
shiny is perhaps the wrong word (however tarty is not), no matching colour SAK eh?
ME
OK, so have done the "new gun" thing with my Ruger. If anyone wants a tarty £800+ Ruger 10/22 let me know  I have just bought a previously enjoyed Varmint from my local gun shop. He chucked in a Mod, Mag and we negotiated for some lovely German glass too.

njc110381
Anyone know about Docter scopes ? 3/12 x 50 ?? I have a Docter on my .22lr. I guess you could call them the lower end of the German market and I think they run from the old Zeiss factory? No matter, they're very good scopes. I'd rate my 6x42 the same as a S&B quality wise, they're bomb proof and very clear.
Colster
I have a Docter on my .22lr. I guess you could call them the lower end of the German market and I think they run from the old Zeiss factory? I thought it was the old Lisenfeld factory but you're probably right. I have a Lisenfeld 8x56 and that is up there with the rest of the Germans for optical quality, took it out the other night around half ten and was amazed how much I could still see through it.... just need a gun to put it on now. If you want a rufty tufty workhorse go for the 'Style' as it has the synthetic stock and Nickelled barrel which provides a tough weatherproof coating for the barrel which wont have to be constantly wiped clean of fingerprints like bluing. Get a 16" barrel version for use from a vehicle. Cheers Shaun Edited June 24, 2010 by peek-at
