AlistairB
Between 22 and 29 mpg in a Disco 300tdi depending on driving type. AB
MC
30-32 from my 1997 300 Tdi irrespective of how it is driven. You can drive it hard or drive it at 56 MPH in 5th gear and the consumption doesn't change.

Billy.
I don't know what I'm getting, but what I do know is that removing my egr and over pressurising the tyres did wonders for the fuel economy! Knocked 15 quid off a 100 mile journey

Knocked 15 quid off a 100 mile journey blimey it only costs me about £17 in mine to do 100 miles, do you reckon inflating the tyres and removing egr will bring my cost down to £

Not to alarm you or anything. Seriously though, get the egr out of yours if you haven't. It's the stupidest thing ever and decreases the life of your engine. kdubya
23 mpg out of my surf regardless of were the pedal is? KW
Billy.
Actually, on the subject of a pedal, I have a question. If you're doing say 25mph in 4th and 25mph in 5th, which uses more fuel? Personally I've always said 4th uses more, but a lot of people say at a slower speed 5th will burn more fuel. Answers on a postcard
al4x
bearing in mind the pump is mechanical usually on a diesel then it will be turning slower and injecting less fuel in 5th. People will argue that 4th is more efficient as its not labouring but they are wrong
