anser2
For pigeon shooting RIO Trap no 6 28 gr take some beating. Good paterns , relaible killing power and sweet on the shoulder if you end up shooting a few hundred in a day. As for the best cartridge ever produced , there can be no doubt. The old lead Winchester 1 7\8s oz , xxx copper plated , buffered shot in no 3 or 1 US size will kill any goose flying up to 55 yards. Time after time. You only have to put the gun on the target and the shell will do the rest. They do not make them like that anymore.

njc110381
I used to like Gamebore Clear Pigeon 30g #6 fibre. Simply because I could see all the pellets inside! I shot well with them though so it wasn't a bad thing.

Vince Green
Baikal cartridges first appeared as 'AZOT'; there was pic of a fox on the box. They were green with a rolled turnover and sometimes contained (when we looked) an interesting variety of pellet sizes, together with differing weights. This was late 1950s early 60s. They were 5/3d (27pence) for 10. The long, bright orange muzzle flash and tremendous bang was exciting to this once 15 year old with a bruised shoulder. Oh yes I remember them well, brilliant cartridges, When I bought them they were 7/6d a box. Shot loads of them. My real favorite at that time though was the Sellier & Bellot Mk11 also sold in a flat box of 10. Where have they gone? If They were still around I would love to buy some. starlight32
Starlight's now for me, but the one I alway used until they stopped making them was Winchester westerns. Silver boxes of ten in the end. I am also now partial to Lylavale super game 36g and Rio royal pigeon 36g (Nice pretty boxes of 10), especially for roost shooting. Dunkield
Maionchi - skeet 9's. I used a lot of them on Sporting - late 80's. Not seen them around until this year. Loved them. A blast (literally) from the past. Back in the day when we thought you needed different cartridges and chokes for each stand we used to use those in 9 and and Winchester AA's in 7.5 both 32 gram of course - just because that was what Smoker used - jeez how
