kdubya
excuse my ignorance,I read the earlier post, and still don't understand exactly what the pearl harbour conspiracy is? It is an assumption that the attack was anticipated, even known? and the negative reaction to reports of planes heading to pearl harbour, was a deliberate act in order to justify America to enter world war two, it does have some merit either way it did us no harm as we would NOT have won the war without the americans KW
kdubya
How are we "soft"? Please, i'd really like to know. apologies for the remark of shall we say one of our more ignorant members ( every forum has them) the only reason us "proud Brits" were still waiting for buses and going about their normal business as usual was that no one really knew what was going on?not even plod, unlike 9/11 when thousands upon thousands witnessed planes fly into the twin towers and then saw them collapse ( you don't need info via loudspeakers for that one) cheers KW
Mungler
The thing about a conspiracy theory is that it's constructed "after the event" i.e. planes go into buildings (fact), buildings go down (fact) and afterwards the world changes in a certain way i.e. tightened country security, more surveilance of the public etc For a decent consiracy theory, you then work on these factual events but after the event, so you get a conspiracy involving the planned and deliberate destruction of the twin towers to achieve an "end game". Everything is built up around the factual events, but after the event. However, where conspiracy theories fall over, is that they can't quite get over the first factual hurdle. If you work from "scratch" and the notion that it was all extensively planned and staged then I am sure we could all come up with much much better ideas and plans and which didn't involve the destruction of the two most important financial buildings for the USA. For example, a plane into the White House when the President was out would have had the same net consequences (restrictions on travel, heightened surveilance of subjects, greater national security, tension in the middle east etc) but about a gazillion dollars less of an impact. You can apply the above to nearly all conspiracy theories. Take the Diana conspiracy - if you were in the security services with your hoards of analysts and tactical strategists you would come up with something better than a car crash in front of the world's paparazzi, who are not generally known for their ability to stay silent or do as they are told. The only one I would question is the David Kelly thing.

poontang
The only one I would question is the David Kelly thing. Interesting you should mention that. I'm reading Norman Baker's book about that at the moment. Definately some very strange stuff going on there.

If infact diana was murdered, things could not have gone better for the assassins, total confusion and not a trace of the retena burning device operator,or their mysterious white car.u would have thought someone saw the actual cause of the crash mind wouldent you. That Trevor bodygaurd of theirs has clearly been scared into keepin silent.

Chances are, if the other occupants were wearing a seat belt (like the only survivor) then they would have come out of it alive. And yes, if they were going to disable the seat belts they would have done them all and couldn't have been sure where the individuals were sitting etc. Again, you wouldn't plan to bump off Diana in those circumstances. Too many variables, a high chance of failure, in front of the public and press and on foreign soil.

Zapp
Too many variables, a high chance of failure And therein is the point that 99.999999% of conspiracy theories/theorists fall on their bottoms. I love the way that the theorists assume that our security/intelligence services are not insular, incompetently managed political playthings, mired in layers of unfathomable beaurocracy, and are therefore capable of pulling off mass killings for political reasons without royally messing it up or anyone blabbermouthing it either before or after the event

al4x
Like most I actually hate conspiracy theories on 911 simply because its demeaning to those who died. As for those who suggest just getting over it they probably were too young to have been sitting watching people make a decision between being cooked and jumping off the tower. David Kelly however is an entirely different matter that does smack of a hit by someone but one guy is a little different.
kdubya
David Kelly however is an entirely different matter that does smack of a hit by someone but one guy is a little different. Kelly was nowt but a turncoat who tried to create trouble by snitching to that fat t**t Gilligan (another conspiracy expert) he got found out slashed his wrist and died, he already had heart disease which meant he did not need to lose as much blood as a healthy guy? and was on "coproxamol" so suicide would have been well up on his list of must do's, shame he wasn't hung at traitors gate. KW Yes, it would have been loads better if he had kept his mouth shut about the gross misrepresentation in the Iraq dossier of the intelligence on the Iraqi CBW programme  .
