Ferret Master
I think it's fair to say he won't be doing it again and that he won't report it to the police as he would be effectively admitting armed trespass. FM
artschool
i dont imagine they will get much sympathy on here. you would need to be crazy to go out on someones land without permission.

gixer1
Although i dont agree with the beating-he really shouldnt have been there. Sometimes these idiots will not take a telling and so in some cases I would say a beating may be required although maybe not to the severity mentioned! groach1234
I have a feeling that if he tried to press charges for assault and theft they would be in the strong position. After all he was on there land, with a gun and no permission and im sure they could say they were threatened or at least felt it upon confronting and armed trespasser and so its self defence and i bet they would win because as it would be one person's word against the others 2s and one is someone committing armed trespass would probably be viewed as an unsavoury character and may not be trusted. Just my view on it......... George Edited October 4, 2010 by groach1234
Frenchieboy
It's a hard one to comment on! I don't think that he should have had such a bad beating but we have to ask if we know what was said, what his attitude was and how threatening he might have been when he was confornted. The moral of the story has to be: If you are going to do anything that can be seen as illegal you must be aware of the eleventh commandment - Thou shalt not get caught! Essex Keeper
what would they had done if he was a traveller let me think mmmmmm no there farm would be burt down
gixer1
what would they had done if he was a traveller let me think mmmmmm no there farm would be burt down Well I know most of the farmers around me aren't worried about travellers - it's the opposite! Travellers know farmed have the machinery to move a transit and caravan quickly and they won't think Twice about it if it is a choice of loosing money or squashing a caravan! And some of these old farmers are used to being kicked by cattle!

Yea it was armed tresspass and against the law but that in no way gives anybody the right, their land or not to beat the living daylights out of you...a call to the police, or asking the victim to leave and a warning would be suffiecient not gbh. chrispti
What if the lad had just been given permission on a neighbouring farm, and accidently went onto the next farm Or He was given permission or even paid for permission, by a bogus land owner I guess we will never know the full facts

angrymallard
what if they tried that approach and he told them to f off in a threatening way? well if they approached him in the 1st place before the assaulted him i don't think that they were to worried so they could have easily just removed the gun and dealt with him appropriately. apache
As I understand it a gamekeeper or landowner may confiscate weapons they believe are been used for poaching.

inthedark
I'm with roadkill on this one. I've got a bit of land on the way to Donny, and there's some right terrorists from there pushing their luck all time. They call it 'a bit of cheeky lamping'. I call it poaching and say **** em, come and take your chances.
Heilan Coo
what would they had done if he was a traveller let me think mmmmmm no there farm would be burt down Do you honestly think they would have asked if he was a traveller? Or do they wear some form of ***** ID? well if they approached him in the 1st place before the assaulted him i don't think that they were to worried so they could have easily just removed the gun and dealt with him appropriately. How do you know they weren't worried? Could you easily remove a gun from someone? They may have felt threatened, in which case I'd have done the same as them. 2 blokes to beat up one man One man, who had a gun. What would you suggest? Queensbury rules? Turn about? Phone a friend?
