bicykillgaz
hi, just after some opinions on these clone scopes, i've just ordered one off flea bay its a leupold mark4 m3 3.5-10x40 clone with ir and 30mm tube, also comes with mounts. i've been on the leupold site and apart from the leupold symbol looks pretty much identical. i'm just after finding out if anyone has got one and what you think of it, got 7-14 days to wait before i see it for my self so just curious. atb gary
steve_b_wales
Don't know about the Leupold ones off Ebay, but I once bought a 'Tasco' one from Hong Kong, at a very cheap price. When it came back, nothing worked, not even the reticule moved. I could have returned it for a refund, but that would have cost almost as much as the scope. I binned it. You can, however, get some real good deals on Ebay.
al4x
as steve says replace clones with cheap chinese copies IMHO you've wasted money you could have put towards a decent scope

njc110381
If they were any good they wouldn't need to pretend they're something that they're not would they?! You get what you pay for with optics.
bicykillgaz
fingers crossed i get a half decent one then, i'm happy with my hawke map-pro so can always stick with that and its payed for with money from selling a couple of items i never use so eitherway its not really cost anything. i normally wouldn't have bothered but thought it was worth the gamble, worse case senario i've got a cheap scope cheap or i could end up with a half decent scope cheap so no real loss, can always give it to my brother for christmas for his air rifle. On that note,is anyone interested in a spares or repairs "tasco"?

bicykillgaz
that certainly sounds like the one i've ordered, still can't be bad for £39.

Raja Clavata
Buy cheap buy twice (or more depending how many cheaps you buy). Simples.
bicykillgaz
Buy cheap buy twice (or more depending how many cheaps you buy). Simples. i know what you mean mate but unfortunately not everyone can afford hundreds on a scope and i'm not expecting it to be leupold quality for £40, so as long as it holds zero i'll be happy and if not its a lesson learned. activeviii
I have one here. it was on my hmr for a while and served its purpose. i replaced it with a nighteater as that what i have on other rifles so what to keep the same thing going. you can have this one for £40 plus postage as i have no need at moment. I have a Richter optics 3-10x50 on my HMR , has really clear optics an IR and i regulaly use it out to 180 yards to headshoot rabbits + lamping and it only cost me £50 , im very happy with it , not had to adjust my zero in months. Vince Green
Chinese scopes are OK if the original is made in China like Bushnell, Simmonds etc. Then you get a factory scope that just cuts out the middle men. They don't rip off their own products. As for the others I don't know.
Raja Clavata
I understand mate but given the choice I'd buy a cheap original rather than a cheap imitation every time.

The obvious lesson to be learned is to ask opinions before you commit to buy, not afterwards when you start to get reservations.

I've had three, two Bushnells and a Simmonds. They are not copies. The Chinese scopes bashing that goes on is mostly ill informed or originates from dealers trying to muddy the water because they want you to buy the same scope for three times the price off them. Don't expect it to arrive that quickly though. About a month seems average
